Phase Stability and Electronic Properties of $Bi_2BaLnCuO_{6+δ}$ Cuprates with Structure 2201 Type

  • The synthesis of new bismuth-barium containing members of layered cuprates with 2201 type structure was reported. By solution calorimetry the formation enthalpies for Bi2MLaCuO6.5 (M=Ba, Ba0.5Sr0.5, Sr) were obtained. Crucial influence of partial oxygen pressure and size of lanthanoid on stability of layered cuprates was shown. Electronic states of variable valence atoms were studied by voltammetry of solids.

  • An experimental investigation was conducted in order to figure out the multiple fire effects on the combustion efficiency and fuel properties of the solid fuel ramjet. Pure HTPB and metallized $B_4$C/HTPB fuel were studied. Fuel property effects were analyzed by using differential scanning calorimetry, The thermal or mechanical properties of the fuel grain were not affected and the combustion efficiency was a little increased.

Synthesis of Poly(enaryloxynitriles) Containing Schiff Bases and Their Thermal Properties

  • Poly(enaryloxynitriles) containing Schiff bases were prepared from p-bis(1-chloro-2,2-dicyanovinyl)benzene (2) and various aromatic diols having Schiff base moiety by interfacial polymerization. The chemical structure of the polymers was confirmed through synthesis of their corresponding model compounds. All the polymers were soluble in polar aprotic solvents and their brittle films were cast from DMF solution. They showed a large exotherm around 340 ℃ attributable to the chemical change of dicyanovinyl group. Especially, curing of azomethine group was observed to occur at 390 ℃ by differential scanning calorimetry. According to the thermogravimetric analyses, they exhibited excellent thermal stability with 60-90% residual weight at 500 ℃ in nitrogen.

  • This research was designed to investigate the effects of Bassica oleracea L. (BO) fractions on the membrane fluidity of the liposomal phospholipid membranes. The sample BO was extracted and fractionated to six different types. methanol(BOM), hexane(BOMH). ethylether(BOMEE), etylacetate(BOMEA), butanol(BOMB) and aqueous(BOMA) fractions. The fluidity of dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine(DPPC) liposomal membranes incorporated with BO fraction was measured by means of high-sensitivity differential scanning calorimetry(DSC). (omitted)

  • The objective of the study was to develop an oral delivery system to increase the stability and efficacy of iron casein succinylate. Aqueous nanoparticles were prepared using complex coacervation of the oppositely charged chitosan and iron casein succinylate with polyethyleneglycol (PEG). The physicochemical properties of nanoparticles were investigated using dynamic light scattering, zeta potential and scanning electron microscopy. Chitosan-iron casein succinylate interactions were investigated in solid state by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and FT-IR spectrometry. (omitted)

팽창흑연/에리스리톨 복합체의 열적거동에 관한 연구 (A Study on Thermal Behaviors of Expanded Graphite/Erythritol Composites)

  • 본 연구에서는 팽창흑연의 함량 변화를 달리하여 제조한 팽창흑연/에리스리톨 복합체의 열적거동에 관하여 고찰하였다. 팽창흑연이 도입된 팽창흑연/에리스리톨 복합체의 표면 및 구조특성은 scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), 그리고 X-ray diffraction (XRD)를 이용하여 관찰하였으며, 열적특성은 differential scanning calorimetry (DSC)와 thermal conductivity (TC)를 이용하여 분석하였다. 실험 결과 팽창흑연의 함량이 증가함에 따라 팽창흑연/에리스리톨 복합체의 열전도도가 증가하였으며, 반면에 잠열은 팽창흑연의 존재 하에 약간 감소하였다. 결론적으로 팽창흑연은 상변이 물질의 높은 열 전달성능 및 열 저장능력을 향상시키는데 적합한 소재라 판단된다.

  • With the objective to design and synthesis of Schiff's base symmetrical liquid crystal dimmers and to study the effect of molecular structure variation ($o-ortho$, $m-meta$, $p-para$) and change in alkoxy terminal chain length on mesomorphic properties of liquid crystals, We have synthesized Schiff base dimers from dialdehyde derivative containing 2-hydroxy-1,3-dioxypropylene as short spacer with aniline derivatives having different lengths of terminal alkoxy chains ($n$ = 5, 7, 9). The chemical structure of the final products was characterized by proton nuclear magnetic resonance ($^1H$ NMR) spectroscopy and fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. The mesomorphic properties and optical textures of the resultant dimers were characterized by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and polarized optical microscopy (POM). The existence of smectic A phase transition was confirmed by the observation of batonnets and fan shaped textures in optical microscopy when compound were heated from crystalline phase. All of the dimers of this series, with the exception of $\mathbf{2S_5}$ -ortho, -meta, -para, were thermotropic liquid crystal. The compound $\mathbf{2S_9}$ -meta was monotropic, while the rest were enantiotropic. It was found that the change in terminal alkoxy chain length has pronounced effect on the mesomorphic properties. The temperature range of smectic A phase window widens with increasing alkoxy chain length.

탄소나노튜브 및 그래핀 나노플레이트 폴리프로필렌 복합재 필름 압출 및 물성 평가 (A Study on Processing-Structure-Property Relationships of Extruded Carbon Nanomaterial-Polypropylene Composite Films)

  • 본 연구에서는 폴리프로필렌과 다양한 탄소나노소재를 사용하여 제조한 복합재의 압출방향 및 권취속도에 따른 기계적 물성과 결정화도에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 폴리프로필렌에 탄소나노소재를 균일하게 분산시키기 위해 미분쇄기에 폴리프로필렌 분말(<700 ${\mu}m$)과 탄소나노소재를 혼합한 후 나노복합재 필름 제조를 위해 압출기를 사용하였다. 나노복합재 필름의 결정화도를 분석하기 위해 differential scanning calorimetry를 이용하였다. 기계적 물성을 인장시험을 통해서 측정한 후 순수 폴리프로필렌 물성과 비교하였고, 압출 시 필름 권취속도에 대한 나노복합재 결정화도의 차이를 확인하였다. 탄소나노소재를 첨가함으로써 고분자 필름의 기계적 물성이 향상됨을 확인하였고, 그에 따른 결정화도 역시 증가하는 것을 확인하였다. 반면, 권취속도가 증가 할수록 압출물의 냉각속도도 역시 증가함으로써 결정화도가 오히려 감소함을 확인하였다.

Thermal Curing Behavior and Tensile Properties of Resole Phenol-Formaldehyde Resin/Clay/Cellulose Nanocomposite

  • This study investigated the effects of layered clay on the thermal curing behavior and tensile properties of resole phenol-formaldehyde (PF) resin/clay/cellulose nanocomposites. The thermal curing behavior of the nanocomposite was characterized using conventional differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and temperature modulated (TMDSC). The addition of clay was found to accelerate resin curing, as measured by peak temperature ($T_p$) and heat of reaction (${\Delta}H$) of the nanocomposite’ curing reaction increasing clay addition decreased $T_p$ with a minimum at 3~5% clay. However, the reversing heat flow and heat capacity showed that the clay addition up to 3% delayed the vitrification process of the resole PF resin in the nanocomposite, indicating an inhibition effect of the clay on curing in the later stages of the reaction. Three different methods were employed to determineactivation energies for the curing reaction of the nanocomposite. Both the Ozawa and Kissinger methods showed the lowest activation energy (E) at 3% clay content. Using the isoconversional method, the activation energy ($E_{\alpha}$) as a function of the degree of conversion was measured and showed that as the degree of cure increased, the $E_{\alpha}$ showed a gradual decrease, and gave the lowest value at 3% nanoclay. The addition of clay improved the tensile strengths of the nanocomposites, although a slight decrease in the elongation at break was observed as the clay content increased. These results demonstrated that the addition of clay to resole PF resins accelerate the curing behavior of the nanocomposites with an optimum level of 3% clay based on the balance between the cure kinetics and tensile properties.

립스틱에서 DSC를 이용한 최대결합수량에 관한 연구 (Studies on the Maximum Bound Water Content by the Differential Scanning Calorimetry on Lipstick)

  • 보습제 베이스를 립스틱에 사용하여 보습효과가 우수한 제품개발에 응용하고자 DSC에 의한 결합수형성능, 수분보유능을 고찰하였다. 보습제 베이스를 배제한 견본에서 결합수 형성능은 5.12 %임을 알았다. 보습제 베이스함량에 따른 결합수형성능을 측정한 결과 보습제 베이스 함량이 증가함에 따라 결합수 형성능이 비례적으로 증가함을 DSC측정결과 알았다. 한편 DSC측정결과와 in vitro 수분보유능 측정법을 비교 실험한 결과 유사한 경향을 나타냄을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 DSC에 의한 결합수 형성능 측정법은 앞으로 립스틱 제품의 보습효과를 예측 하는데 유용한 방법으로 생각되었다.
