3D Reconstruction using vanishing points (소실점을 이용한 3차원 재구성)

  • This paper proposes a calibration method from two images. Camera calibration is necessarily required to obtain 3D Information from 2D images. Previous works to accomplish the camera calibration needed the calibration object or required more than three images to calculate the Kruppa equation, however, we use the geometric constraints of parallelism and orthogonality can be easily presented in man-made scenes. The task of it is to obtain intrinsic and extrinsic camera parameters. The intrinsic parameters are evaluated from vanishing points and then the extrinsic parameters which are consisted of rotation matrix and translation vector of the camera are estimated from corresponding points of two views. From the calibrated parameters, we can recover the projection matrices for each view point. These projection matrices are used to recover 3D information of the scene and can be used to visualize new viewpoints.

  • A system to extract continuously the real 3-D geometric fearture information from 2-D image of an object, which is fed randomly via conveyor has been developed. Two sets of structured laser lightings were utilized. And the laser structured light projection image was acquired using the camera from the signal of the photo-sensor mounted on the conveyor. Camera coordinate calibration matrix was obtained, which transforms 2-D image coordinate information into 3-D world space coordinate using known 6 points. The maximum error after calibration showed 1.5 mm within the height range of 103mm. The correlation equation between the shift amount of the laser light and the height was generated. Height information estimated after correlation showed the maximum error of 0.4mm within the height range of 103mm. An interactive 3-D geometric feature extracting software was developed using Microsoft Visual C++ 4.0 under Windows system environment. Extracted 3-D geometric feature information was reconstructed into 3-D surface using MATLAB.

Simultaneous Kinetic Spectrophotometric Determination of Sulfite and Sulfide Using Partial Least Squares (PLS) Regression

  • The partial least squares (PLS-1) calibration model based on spectrophotometric measurement, for the simultaneous determination of sulfite and sulfide is described. This method is based on the difference between the rate of the reaction of sulfide and sulfite with Malachite Green in pH 7.0 buffer solution and at 25 ${^{\circ}C}$. The absorption kinetic profiles of the solutions were monitored by measuring the decrease in the absorbance of Malachite Green at 617 nm in the time range 10-180 s after initiation of the reactions with 2 s intervals. The experimental calibration matrix for partial least squares (PLS-1) calibration was designed with 24 samples. The cross-validation method was used for selecting the number of factors. The results showed that simultaneous determination could be performed in the range 0.030-1.5 and 0.030-1.2 $\mu$g m$L ^{-1}$ for sulfite and sulfide, respectively. The proposed method was successfully applied to simultaneous determination of sulfite and sulfide in water samples and whole human blood.

  • This paper presents a measuring technique for bursting height of proximity fuses. This technique uses camera calibration to obtain the perspective transformation matrix describing the projection of the world coordinates to image coordinates, and calculates the world coordinates of bursting points from their image coordinates. The surface approximation algorithm by polynomial functions are also implemented.

Improvement of Calibration Method for a Dual-rotating Compensator Type Spectroscopic Ellipsometer

  • The compensators used in spectroscopic ellipsometers are usually assumed to be ideal linear waveplates. In reality, however, they are elliptical waveplates, because they are usually made by bonding two or more linear waveplates of different materials with slight misalignment. This induces systematic error when they are modeled as linear waveplates. We propose an improved calibration method based on an optical model that regards an elliptical waveplate as a combination of a circular waveplate (rotator) and a linear waveplate. The method allows elimination of the systematic error, and the residual error of optic axis measurement is reduced to 0.025 degrees in the spectral range of 450-800 nm.

Calibration and Flight Test Results of Air Data Sensing System using Flush Pressure Ports (플러시 압력공을 사용한 대기자료 측정장치의 교정 및 비행시험 결과)

  • A flush air data sensing system, which can predict flight speed, angle of attack, and angle of sideslip of the aircraft is designed and manufactured for a small UAV. Two kinds of flush pressure ports, four ports and five ports, are tapped at the same section of fuselage nose-cone. Calibration pressure data at flush ports are obtained through computations for the total aircraft by using Fluent code. Angle of attack, angle of sideslip, total pressure, and static pressure are represented with 4th-order polynomial function and calibration coefficient matrix is obtained using least square method with calibration pressure data. Flight test showed that flight speed, angle of attack, and sideslip angle predicted by four flush ports and five flush ports compared well with those by five-hole probe installed for data comparison. Especially four flush ports revealed nearly same results as those by five flush ports.

  • Camera pose and scene geometry estimation from video sequences is widely used in various areas such as image composition. Structure and motion recovery based on the auto calibration algorithm can insert synthetic 3D objects in real but un modeled scenes and create their views from the camera positions. However, most previous methods require bundle adjustment or non linear minimization process [or more precise results. This paper presents a new auto' calibration algorithm for video sequence based on two steps: the one is key frame selection, and the other removes the key frame with inaccurate camera matrix based on an absolute quadric estimation by LMedS. In the experimental results, we have demonstrated that the proposed method can achieve a precise camera pose estimation and scene geometry recovery without bundle adjustment. In addition, virtual objects have been inserted in the real images by using the camera trajectories.

Self-Calibration for Direction Finding in Multi-Baseline Interferometer System (멀티베이스라인 인터페로미터 시스템에서의 자체 교정 방향 탐지 방법)

  • In this paper, self-calibration algorithm based on covariance matrix is proposed for compensating amplitude/phase mismatch in multi-baseline interferometer direction finding system. The proposed method is a solution to nonlinear constrained minimization problem which dramatically calibrate mismatch error using space sector concept with cost function as defined in this paper. This method, however, has a drawback that requires an estimated initial angle to determine the proper space sector. It is well known that this type of drawback is common in nonlinear optimization problem. Superior calibration capabilities achieved with this approach are illustrated by simulation experiments in comparison with interferometer algorithm for a varitiety of amplitude/phase mismatch error. Furthermore, this approach has been found to provide an exceptional calibration capabilities even in case amplitude and phase mismatch are more than 30 dB and over $5^{\circ}$, respectively, with sector spacing of less than $50^{\circ}$.

A Threshold-voltage Sensing Circuit using Single-ended SAR ADC for AMOLED Pixel (단일 입력 SAR ADC를 이용한 AMOLED 픽셀 문턱 전압 감지 회로)

  • A threshold-voltage sensing circuit is proposed to compensate for pixel aging in active matrix organic light-emitting diodes. The proposed threshold-voltage sensing circuit consists of sample-hold (S/H) circuits and a single-ended successive approximation register (SAR) analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with a resolution of 10 bits. To remove a scale down converter of each S/H circuit and a voltage gain amplifier with a signl-to-differentail converter, the middle reference voltage calibration and input range calibration for the single-ended SAR ADC are performed in the capacitor digital-to-analog converter and reference driver. The proposed threshold-voltage sensing circuit is designed by using a 180-nm CMOS process with a supply voltage of 1.8 V. The ENOB and power consimption of the single-ended SAR ADC are 9.425 bit and 2.83 mW, respectively.

Application of Levenberg Marquardt Method for Calibration of Unsteady Friction Model for a Pipeline System (관수로 부정류 마찰항 보정을 위한 Levenberg Marquardt 방법의 적용연구)

  • In this study, a conventional pipeline unsteady friction model has been integrated into Levenberg Marquardt method to calibrate friction coefficient in a pipeline system. The method of characteristics has been employed as the modeling platform for the frequency dependant model of unsteady friction. In order to obtain Hessian and Jacobian matrix for optimization, the direct differentiation of pressure to friction factor was calculated and sensitivities to friction for heads and discharges were formulated for implementation to the integration constant in the characteristic method. Using a hypothetical simple pipeline system, time series of pressure, introduced by a sudden valve closure, were obtained for various Reynolds numbers. Convergency in fiction factors were evaluated both in steady and unsteady friction models. The comparison of calibration performance between the proposed method and genetic algorithm indicates that faster and stabler behaviour of Levenberg Marquardt method than those of evolutionary calibration.
