  • Industrial IoT has much interested in wireless mesh networks (WMNs) due to cost effectiveness and coverage. According to the advance in caching technology, WMNs have been researched to overcome the throughput degradation of multihop environment. However, there is few researches of cache power consumption models for WMNs. In particular, a wired line based cache power consumption model in content-centric networks is not still proper to WMNs. In this paper, we split the amount of cache power from the idle power consumption of CPU, and then the cache hit ratio proportional power consumption model (CHR-model) is proposed. The proposed CHR-model provides more accurate power consumption in WMNs, compared with the conventional cache power efficiency based consumption model (CPE-model). The proposed CHR-model can provide a reference model to improve energy-efficient cache operation for Industrial IoT.

  • Cache bypassing schemes have been studied to remove unnecessary updating the data in cache blocks. Among them, a statistics-based cache bypassing method for asymmetric-access caches is one of the most efficient approach for non-voliatile memories and shows the lowest cache access latency. However, it is proposed under the condition of the normal cache system, so further study is required for the hybrid cache architecture. This paper proposes a novel cache bypassing scheme, called hybrid bypassing block selector. In the proposal, the new model is established considering the SRAM region and the non-volatile memory region separately. Based on the model, hybrid bypassing decision block is implemented. Experiments show that the hybrid bypassing decision block saves overall energy consumption by 21.5%.

  • Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks towards name servers of the Domain Name System (DNS) have threaten to disrupt this critical service. This paper studies the vulnerability of the cache server to the flooding DNS query traffic. As the resolution service provided by cache server, the incoming DNS requests, even the massive attacking traffic, are maintained in the waiting queue. The sojourn of requests lasts until the corresponding responses are returned from the authoritative server or time out. The victim cache server is thus overloaded by the pounding traffic and thereafter goes down. The impact of such attacks is analyzed via the model of queuing process in both cache server and authoritative server. Some specific limits hold for this practical dual queuing process, such as the limited sojourn time in the queue of cache server and the independence of the two queuing processes. The analytical results are presented to evaluate the impact of DDoS attacks on cache server. Finally, numerical results are provided for further analysis.

  • A multithreaded model is a hybrid one which combines locality of execution of the von Neumann model with asynchronous data availability and implicit parallelism of the dataflow model. Much researches that have been made toward the advanced performance of multithreaded models are about the cache memory which have been proved to be efficient in the von Neumann model. To use an instruction cache or operand cache, the multithreaded models must have cache memories. If cache memories are added to the multithreaded model, they may have the disadvantage of high implementation cost in the mode. To solve these problems, we did not add cache memory but applied the method of executing the caching by using available registers of the multithreaded models. The available register-based caching method is one that use the registers which are not used on the execution of threads. It may accomplish the same effect as the cache memory. The multithreaded models can compute the number of available registers to be used during the process of the register optimization, and therefore this method can be easily applied on the models. By applying this method, we can also remove the access conflict and the bottleneck of frame memories. When we applied the proposed available register-based caching method, we found that there was an improved performance of the multithreaded model. Also, when the available-register-based caching method is compared with the cache based caching method, we found that there was the almost same execution overhead.

  • With the mobile traffic in the network increases exponentially, multi-access edge computing (MEC) develops rapidly. MEC servers are deployed geo-distribution, which serve many mobile terminals locally to improve users' QoE (Quality of Experience). When the cache space of a MEC server is full, how to replace the cached videos is an important problem. The problem is also called the cache replacement problem, which becomes more complex due to the dynamic video popularity and the varied video sizes. Therefore, we proposed a new cache replacement scheme based on local video popularity and video size to solve the cache replacement problem of MEC servers. First, we built a local video popularity model, which is composed of a popularity rise model and a popularity attenuation model. Furthermore, the popularity attenuation model incorporates a frequency-dependent attenuation model and a frequency-independent attenuation model. Second, we formulated a utility based on local video popularity and video size. Moreover, the weights of local video popularity and video size were quantitatively analyzed by using the information entropy. Finally, we conducted extensive simulation experiments based on the proposed scheme and some compared schemes. The simulation results showed that our proposed scheme performs better than the compared schemes in terms of hit rate, average delay, and server load under different network configurations.

  • Existing single cache structure has shown difference of hit-ratio according to individually replacement strategy However. It needs new improved cache structure for reducing network traffic and providing advanced hit-ratio. Therefore, this Paper design push agent model using dual cache for increasing hit-ratio by reducing server overload and network traffic by repetition request of persistent and identical information. In this model proposes dual cache structure to do achievement replace gradual cache using by two caches storage space for reducing server overload and network traffic. Also, we show new cache replace techniques and algorithms which executes data update and delete based on replace strategy of Log(Size) +LRU, LFU and PLC for effectiveness of data search in cache. And through an experiment, it evaluates Performance of dual cache push agent model.

  • Recently, to achieve high performance of the processor, the cache is splits physically into two parts, one for instruction and one for data. This paper proposes an architecture of asynchronous instruction cache based on mixed-delay model that are DI(delay-insensitive) model for cache hit and Bundled delay model for cache miss. We synthesized the instruction cache at gate-level and constructed a test platform with 32-bit embedded processor EISC to evaluate performance. The cache communicates with the main memory and CPU using 4-phase hand-shake protocol. It has a 8-KB, 4-way set associative memory that employs Pseudo-LRU replacement algorithm. As the results, the designed cache shows 99% cache hit ratio and reduced latency to 68% tested on the platform with MI bench mark programs.

  • The development of proxy caching is essential in the area of video-on-demand (VoD) to meet users' expectations. VoD requires high bandwidth and creates high traffic due to the nature of media. Many researchers have developed proxy caching models to reduce bandwidth consumption and traffic. Proxy caching keeps part of a media object to meet the viewing expectations of users without delay and provides interactive playback. If the caching is done continuously, the entire cache space will be exhausted at one stage. Hence, the proxy server must apply cache replacement policies to replace existing objects and allocate the cache space for the incoming objects. Researchers have developed many cache replacement policies by considering several parameters, such as recency, access frequency, cost of retrieval, and size of the object. In this paper, the Weighted-Rank Cache replacement Policy (WRCP) is proposed. This policy uses such parameters as access frequency, aging, and mean access gap ratio and such functions as size and cost of retrieval. The WRCP applies our previously developed proxy caching model, Hot-Point Proxy, at four levels of replacement, depending on the cache requirement. Simulation results show that the WRCP outperforms our earlier model, the Dual Cache Replacement Policy.

  • This paper presents a novel approach in the design of a CAM for an asynchronous cache. The architecture of cache mainly consists of four units: control logics, content addressable memory, completion signal logic units and instruction memory. The pseudo-DCVSL is useful to make a completion signal which is a reference for handshake control. The proposed CAM is a very simple extension of the basic circuitry that makes a completion signal based on DI model. The cache has 2.75KB CAM for 8KB instruction memory. We designed and simulated the proposed asynchronous cache including CAM. The results show that the cache hit ratio is up to 95% based on pseudo-LRU replacement policy.

  • In this paper, we propose a fuzzy proxy cache scheme for caching web documents in mobile base stations. In this scheme, a mobile cache model is used to facilitate data caching and data replication. Using the proposed cache scheme, the individual proxy in the base station makes cache decisions based solely on its local knowledge of the global cache state so that the entire wireless proxy cache system can be effectively managed without centralized control. To improve the performance of proxy caching, the proposed cache scheme predicts the direction of movement of mobile hosts, and uses various cache methods for neighboring proxy servers according to the fuzzy-logic-based control rules based on the membership degree of the mobile host. The performance of our cache scheme is evaluated analytically in terms of average response delay and average energy cost, and is compared with that of other mobile cache schemes.
