Design of paraleel adder with carry look-ahead using current-mode CMOS Multivalued Logic (전류 모드 CMOS MVL을 이용한 CLA 방식의 병렬 가산기 설계)

  • This paper proposed the design methodology of the 8 bit binary parallel adder with carry book-ahead scheme via current-mode CMOS multivalued logic and simulated the proposed adder under $5{\mu}m$ standard IC process technology. The threshold conditions of $G_K$ and $P_K$ which are needed for m-valued parallel adder with CLA are evaluated and adopted for quaternary logic. The design of quaternary CMOS logic circuits, encoder, decoder, mod-4 adder, $G_K$ and $P_K$ detecting circuit and current-voltage converter is proposed and is simulated to prove the operations. These circuits are necessary for binary arithmetic using multivalued logic. By comparing with the conventional binary adder and the CCD-MVL adder, We show that the proposed adder cab be designed one look-ahead carry generator with 1-level structure under standard CMOS technology and confirm the usefulness of the proposed adder.

Experimental Analysis of Bounce, Roll and Pitch Frequencies of Major Systems of a Large Truck using a Multi-axial Road Simulator (다축 로드 시뮬레이터를 이용한 대형트럭 주요 시스템의 바운스와 롤 및 피치 주파수의 실험적 분석)

  • This paper presents a scheme for experimentally analyzing bounce, roll and pitch frequencies of major systems of a large truck using a multi-axial road simulator. The excitation input (amplitude and frequency range) fur a frequency response test with the multi-axial road simulator is selected in order that bounce, roll and pitch modes are not coupled each other, the excitation amplitude can be reproduced in a specified excitation frequency range, and tires do not lose contact with posters. Three accelerometers, one gyroscope and four displacement meters are used in the frequency response test using the multi-axial road simulator. The reliability of the presented bounce mode frequency response test scheme is validated by comparing the result from a test using the multi-axial road simulator with the result from a road driving test. The road driving test is performed with velocities of 20km/h and 30km/h, and in an unladen state. The vertical accelerations at the cab and the front axle are measured in the road driving test. The roll and pitch mode frequency response tests are also performed with the presented frequency response test scheme. Roll and pitch frequencies of major systems of a large truck that are hard to acquire from a road driving test are analyzed as well as bounce frequency.

  • This paper describes a research work of developing a computer-aided design of blanking and piercing for irregular-shaped sheet metal products. An approach to the development of compact and practical CAB system is based on the knowledge-based rules. Knowledge for the CAD system is formulated from plasticity theories, experimental results and the empirical knowledge of field experts. The system has been written in AutoLISP on the AutoCAD with a personal computer. Based on knowledge-based rules, the system, STRT-DES, is designed by considering several factors, such as complexities of blank geometry and punch profile, availability of press equipment and standard parts, utilization ratio which minimizes the scrap in a single or a pairwise operation, bridge width, grain orientation and design requirements which maximize the strength of the part when subsequent bending is involved. This system checks a forming feasibility with both internal and external features, a dimension of blanked hole, and a corner and a fillet radius for irregualrly shaped sheet metal products. Therefore this system can carry out a die design for each process which is obtained from results of an automated blank layout drawing with a best utilization ratio for irregular shape of product that was successful in production feasibility check module and those of an automated strip layout drawing and generate part drawings and the assembly drawing of die set in graphic forms.

Exploring Responses to Light in the Monocot Model Plant, Brachypodium distachyon

  • Brachypodium distachyon has been developed as a monocot model plant for temperate grasses and bioenergy crops. Although B. distachyon research is moving forward rapidly, the study of photoresponses has not been explored. To extend our knowledge of responses to light in monocots, we performed photoresponse analysis of B. distachyon using two inbred lines, Bd21 and Bd21-3. In this study, we first compared growing phenotypes between the two lines and investigated coleoptile and primary leaf growths under dark, far-red, red, and white light conditions. The results showed that the growth of the two lines were similar until tillering stage, but other developmental stages from heading to senescence were much delayed in Bd21-3, which resulted in increased height and tiller numbers. Under different light conditions, primary leaf lengths were kept increasing during the growth period, whereas the coleoptile extension was inhibited 4 to 7 days after growth depending on the light conditions applied. These results suggest that the responses to light in B. distachyon can be examined by measuring coleoptile lengths approximately 7 days after seedling growth. Moreover, we selected light-responsive genes known in Arabidopsis thaliana, such as chlorophyll A/B binding protein (CAB), light-harvesting chlorophyll binding protein (Lhcb) and chalcone synthase (CHS), and confirmed their light-induced gene expression in B. distachyon. Therefore, the present study suggests that the inhibition of coleoptile growth can be used as the parameter to analyze photoresponses in the monocot model plant, and also provide the reference genes whose expression is induced by far-red and red light treatment.

A Study on the Method of preventing from Reduction of AF Track Circuit Signal Current on a Ferroconcrete Roadbed (철근콘크리트 도상에서 AF 궤도회로 신호전류 저감방지대책에 관한 연구)

  • Until now, the track circuit with railroad which is a part of an electrical circuit wad used only for the detection of the train location, but as train speed is up to be higher, in order to overcome the limits of ground signal system the railway signal system has changed from the ground signal system to a cab signal system. The power source of the track circuit has also changed from a direct current or a high voltage impulse to an alternating current with high frequency which is a part of the audio frequency. To improve the maintenanability and according to the environment condition, the railway roadbed is rapidly changed to the ferroconcrete roadbed. In case of a track circuit to use an alternating current with high frequency as power source at a ferroconcrete roadbed, the characteristic of the track circuit is brought on a change from a loss of the magnetic combination instead of a leakage current from electric insulation which was caused by the reinforcing iron pod with lattice shape for durability. This paper is shown the influence and the loss of the signal current at AF track circuit on a ferroconcrete in the simulation sheets and presented a proposal for the preventive method from reduction of signal current.

Resynthesis of Logic Gates on Mapped Circuit for Low Power (저전력 기술 매핑을 위한 논리 게이트 재합성)

  • The advent of deep submicron technologies in the age of portable electronic systems creates a moving target for CAB algorithms, which now need to reduce power as well as delay and area in the existing design methodology. This paper presents a resynthesis algorithm for logic decomposition on mapped circuits. The existing algorithm uses a Huffman encoding, but does not consider glitches and effects on logic depth. The proposed algorithm is to generalize the Huffman encoding algorithm to minimize the switching activity of non-critical subcircuits and to preserve a given logic depth. We show how to obtain a transition-optimum binary tree decomposition for AND tree with zero gate delay. The algorithm is tested using SIS (logic synthesizer) and Level-Map (LUT-based FPGA lower power technology mapper) and shows 58%, 8% reductions on power consumptions, respectively.

  • In accidents involving the collision of railway vehicles, there is a risk that structural members might penetrate the cab frame of the railway vehicle in the space in which the driver or passengers are seated. To reduce this risk, worldwide, studies on the collision of railway vehicles are underway. In North America, the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) was revised in 2010 to include crush criteria for a collision and the corner post in an end frame. In this study, a crush analysis and crush test for a collision post and a crash analysis for a rigid cylinder were performed according to the CFR. The analysis and test results were compared and reviewed. This study aims to determine the usefulness of crush analysis for developing various end frames, and to understand the crush and crash characteristics and review the accuracy of the analysis.

Carbohydrate Intake Associated with Risk Factors of Coronary Heart Disease in the Adults: NHANES III (성인의 만성질환관련 탄수화물 식사지침 연구)

  • Recent research reported health risks associate with high carbohydrates diets. Objectives of this study were to evaluate in a cross-sectional study if high carbohydrate diet is associated with coronary heart disease(CHD) risk factors: examined blood concnetration of triglyceride(TG), total cholesterol, high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C), plasma glucose, systolic blood pressure(BP), body mas index(BMI), wasit-hip ratio(WHR) and waist-stature ratio(WSR). Using the most recent US National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(IIINHANES III) data, the nationally representative US population (3772 men, 4095 women of 25-64 years of age) was divided into low vs. high carbohydrate diet groups(below 40% vs. above 60% energy intake from cab carbohydrates) and compared by the CHD risk factors. Triglyceride was higher(p<0.001) in the high carbohydrate group, whereas high density-lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)was lower(p<0.01) in the high carbohydrate diet group. In plasma glucose, there was no significant differences between high carbohydrate diet and low carbohydrate diet. In adiposity(BMI, WHR and WSR), it also showed no significant differences, After adjustment for age, ethnicity, alcohol and smoking in upper 60%-carbohydrate diet, Odds Ratio of TG and HDL-C were 1.42 and 1.23 in men and 1.22 and 1.17 in women. 50-60% carbohydrate diet was associated with decreased risk of CHD. Dietary guidelines for Koreans recommend 60-70% of total energy from carbohydrate, as Koreans traditionally consumed high carbohydrate diets. In a cross-sectional population of adults, diets containing 55-60% energy from carbohydrate were suggested as a dietary guideline of carbohydrate intake for Koreans. The Estimation of an Origin-Destination Matrix from Traffic Counts using Conjugate Gradient Method in Nationwide Networks (관측교통량 기반 기종점 OD행렬 추정모형의 대규모 가로망에 적용(CG모형 적용을 중심으로))

  • We evaluated the availability of Origin-Destination Matrix from traffic counts Using conjugate gradient method to large scale networks by applying it to the networks in 246 zones. As a result of the analysis of the consistency of the model on Nationwide Networks, the upper and lower levels in model had the systematic relationship internally. From the analysis of the estimable power or the model according to the number of traffic counting links, the error in traffic volume had the estimable power in the range of permissible error. In addition, the estimable power of estimation of an Origin-Destination Matrix was more satisfactory than that of existing methods. We conclude that conjugate gradient method cab be applied to nationwide networks if we can make sure that the algorithm of the developed model is reliable by doing various kinds of experiment.

Research Trends for Performance, Safety, and Comfort Evaluation of Agricultural Tractors: A Review

  • Background: Significant technological development and changes happened in the tractor industries. Contrariwise, the test procedures of the major standard development organizations (SDO's) remained unchanged or with a little modification over the years, demanding new tractor test standards or improvement of existing ones for tractor performance, safety, and comfort. Purpose: This study focuses on reviewing the research trends regarding performance, safety and comfort evaluation of agricultural tractors. Based on this review, few recommendations were proposed to revise or improve the current test standards. Review: Tractor power take-off power test using the DC electric dynamometer reduced human error in the testing process and increased the accuracy of the test results. GPS signals were used to determine acceleration and converted into torque. High capacity double extended octagonal ring dynamometer has been designed to measure drawbar forces. Numerical optimization methodology has been used to design three-point hitch. Numerous technologies, driving strategies, and transmission characteristics are being considered for reducing emissions of gaseous and particulate pollutants. Engine emission control technology standards need to be revised to meet the exhaust regulations for agricultural tractors. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) program has been used to design Roll-Over Protective Structures (ROPS). Program and methodology has been presented for testing tractor brake systems. Whole-body vibration emission levels have been found to be very dependent upon the nature of field operation performed, and the test track techniques required development/adaptation to improve their suitability during standardized assessment. Emphasizes should be given to improve visibility and thermal environment inside the cab for tractor operator. Tractors need to be evaluated under electromagnetic compatibility test conditions due to large growing of electronic devices. Research trends reviewed in this paper can be considered for possible revision or improvement of tractor performance, safety, and comfort test standards.
