This paper is a study on the computer simulation of the characteristics of the superconducting fault current limiter. Input variable parameters are apparent power, load resistance value, line resistance value and so on. Initial fault current 2 times larger than the trigger current is required to reduce the switching time of SFCL. The propagation velocity increases abruptly, the transport current is several times larger than the ciritical current. In this paper, the switching time is calculated to be 323$\mu$ sec, and the initial fault current is 19 times larger than the critical current. Because the trigger coils are bifilar winding, they have little impedance in superconducting state. After fault occurred, the limiting coil acts as a superconducting reactor and the trigger coils quench at a critical current. Without the SFCL in the circuit, fault current after the load impedence is shorted might be increased to 1100A. The fault current is, therefore, successfully limited by the superconducting limiting coil to 100A determined by the coil inductance.
When the coil with alternating current approaches to the conductor the eddy current flows in conductor. Eddy current is concentrated on the conductor surface and decrescent because of skin effect. In this paper investigated eddy current characteristic that is happened in conductor. Analyzed characteristic using electromagnetic field finite element analysis program that is commercialized to analyze value of eddy current and penetration depth. Analyzed creation value of eddy current and penetration depth in conductor that change operation frequency and the material of conductor, coil outside diameter, inside diameter, position, type of conductor from analyzed eddy current characteristic. The results, using distribution of eddy current and penetration depth data is that will help to forecast ECT(Eddy Current Testing), Eddy current application and use field, eddy current loss.
A DC railway system has low feeder voltage, The remote fault current can be smaller than the current of load starting. So it is important to discriminate between the small fault current and the train starting current. The train starting current increases step by step but the fault current increases all at once. So the type of $\bigtriangleup I\;relay(50F)$ was developed using the different characteristics between the load starting current and the fault current. As for the train starting current, the time constant of train current at each step is much smaller than that of the fault current. To detect faults in U railway systems, an algorithm that is independent of train starting current. This algorithm use the time constant calculated by the method of least squares is presented in this paper.
This paper proposes a modified current differential relay for transformer protection unaffected by the remanent flux. The relay uses the same restraining current as a conventional relay, but the differential current is modified to compensate for the effects of the exciting current. To cope with the remanent flux, before saturation, the relay calculates the core-loss current and uses it to modify the measured differential current. When the core then enters saturation, the initial value of the flux is obtained by inserting the modified differential current at the start of saturation into the magnetization cure. Thereafter, the actual core flux is then derived and used in conjunction with the magnetization curve to calculate the magnetizing current. A modified differential current is then derived that compensates for the core-loss and magnetizing currents. The performance of the proposed differential relay was compared against a conventional differential relay. Results indicate that the modified relay remained stable during severe magnetic inrush and over-excitation because the exciting current was successfully compensated. This paper concludes by implementing the relay on a hardware platform based on a digital signal processor. The relay discriminates magnetic inrush and over-excitation from an internal fault and is not affected by the level of remanent flux.
The whole-cell mode of the patch clamp technique was used to study $Ca^{2+}-activated\;Cl^-\;current$$(I_{Cl_{Ca}})$ in gastric antral myocytes. Extracellular application of caffeine evoked $Ca^{2+}-activated\;current$. In order to isolate the chloride current from background current, all known systems were blocked with specific blockers. The current-voltage relationship of caffeine-induced current showed outward rectification and it reversed at around $E_{Cl^-}$. The shift of reversal potential upon the alteration of external and internal chloride concentrations was well fitted with results which were calculated by the Nernst equation. Extracellular addition of N-phenylanthranilic acid and niflumic acid which are known anion channel blockers abolished the caffeine induced current. Intracellular application of a high concentration of EGTA also abolished this current. Application of c-AMP, c-GMP, heparin, or $AIF^-_4$ made no remarkable changes to this current. Sodium replacement with the impermeable cation N-methylglucamine or with $Cd^{2+}$ rarely affected this current. From the above results it is suggested that the caffeine induced current was a $Cl^-$ current and it was activated by intracellular $Ca^{2+}$.
A nearshore current or a wave-induced current is an important phenomenon in a nearshore zone, which is composed of longshore, cross-shore, and rip currents. The nearshore current is closely related to the occurrence of coastal accidents by beachgoers. A considerable number of coastal accidents by beachgoers involving the rip current have been reported at Jungmun Beach. However, in studies and observations of the nearshore current of Jungmun Beach, understanding of the rip current pattern remains unclear. In this study, a scientific approach is taken to understand the nearshore current and the rip current patterns at Jungmun Beach by numerical computation for year of 2015. From results of numerical computation, the occurrence and spatial characteristics of the rip current, and the similarities between the rip current and incident wave conditions are analyzed. The primary results of this study reveal that the rip currents are frequently generated at Jungmun Beach, especially in the western parts of the beach, and that the rip currents often occur with a wave breaking height of around 0.5 ~ 0.7 m, a wave period of around 6 ~ 8 seconds, and a breaking angle of around 0 ~ 15 degrees.
The resistive superconducting fault current limiters (SFCLs) are very attractive devices for the electric power network. But they have some serious problems when the YBCO thin films were used for the current limiting materials due to the in homogeneities caused by manufacturing process. When the YBCO films have some inhomogeneities, simultaneous quenches are difficult to achieve when the fault current limiting units are connected in series for increasing operating voltage ratings. Magnetic field application is one of the prospective way of inducing simultaneous quenches far the series-connected resistive FCL components. Magnetic field was typically generated by the fault current thorough a coil, which is connected to components of the fault current limiter in series, leaving the problem, which provides significant inductance to the power line and suppresses critical current density of the superconducting components. In this article we investigated the possible application of the protective current transformer (p-CT), which is available current source to the magnetic coil. This system inductively coupled to the circuit, therefore, remarkably reducing impedance to the circuit. The current by the protective current transformer was directly fed to the coil, generating magnetic field large enough to reduce critical current density of the components. This successfully induced simultaneous quenches of the series-connected resistive FCL components.
The stability of PWM rectifiers with a deadbeat current controller is seriously influenced by computation time delays and low-pass filters inserted into the current-sampling circuit. Predictive current control is often adopted to solve this problem. However, grid current predictive precision is affected by many factors such as grid voltage estimated errors, plant model mismatches, dead time and so on. In addition, the predictive current error aggravates the grid current distortion. To improve the grid current predictive precision, an improved deadbeat current controller with a repetitive-control-based observer to predict the grid current is proposed in this paper. The design principle of the proposed observer is given and its stability is discussed. The predictive performance of the observer is also analyzed in the frequency domain. It is shown that the grid predictive error can be decreased with the proposed method in the related bode diagrams. Experimental results show that the proposed method can minimize the current predictive error, improve the current loop robustness and reduce the grid current THD of PWM rectifiers.
