In this paper, the efficiency and the inhibition mechanisms of cobalt salts (cobalt nitrate and cobalt-exchange silica Co/Si) for the corrosion protection of AA2024 were investigated in a neutral aqueous solution by using the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and polarization curves. The experimental measurements suggest that cobalt cation plays a role as a cathodic inhibitor. The efficiency of cobalt cation was important at the concentration range from 0.001 to 0.01 M. The formation of precipitates of oxides/hydroxides of cobalt on the surface at low inhibitor concentration was confirmed by the Scanning Electron Microscopy/Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (SEM/EDS) analysis. EIS measurements were also conducted for the AA2024 surface covered by water-based epoxy coating comprising Co/Si salt. The results obtained from exposure in the electrolyte demonstrated the improvement of the barrier and inhibition properties of the coating exposed in the electrolyte solution for a lengthy time. The SEM/EDS analysis in artificial scribes of the coating after salt spray testing revealed the release of cobalt cations in the coating defect to induce the barrier layer on the exposed AA2024 substrate.

In this paper, we propose the method to improve the performance of the antenna system that contains three bands, such as Lte3G, WLAN and Lte4G. This antenna has an advantage that can cover the three different frequency bands 2.1GHz, 2.4GHz and 2.6GHz through one antenna design. The design and simulations are done using CST Microwave Studio 2014 program. The antenna is designed by using the FR-4 (lossy) substrate with the dielectric constant of er=4.3 and dielectric loss tangent 0.025. The substrate dimensions are the following; Thickness[h] is 1.6mm, Length is 90mm, and Width is 40mm. The ground is designed by using the PEC material with h=0.035mm. The patch is designed by using the copper with h=0.035mm. In the near future, we will fabricate the antenna, which we have designed, and then apply this antenna to the mobile communication system. And we will test this mobile communication system for the diverse environments.
To investigate the corrosion behavior of tools steel surface in various coating film, the surface of hard coated Ti-Zr-N film on the tool steel by using magnetron-sputtering methods was researched using various experimental methods. STD 61 steels were manufactured by using vacuum furnace and solutionized for 1hr at $1050^{\circ}C$. Steel surface was coated with Ti-Zr-N film at $150^{\circ}C$ and 100W for 1h by using DC-sputtering equipment. Surface characteristics of Ti-Zr-N film coated specimens were investigated by OM, XRD, FE-SEM and nano-scratch tester. And corrosion behaviors of the coated specimen were investigated by polarization test and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EG&G Co, PARSTAT 2273. USA). It was found that Ti-Zr-N film coated sample had a thick coated layer and showed a good wear resistance and corrosion resistance of surface compared with ZrN and TiN coated sample. The corrosion resistance and mechanical property of Ti-Zr-N film coated STD 61 alloy increased as sputtering time increased.

In this paper, a design of V-type Linearly Tapered Slot Antenna(V-LTSA) with uniplanar microstrip-to-coplanar stripline(CPS) transitions is presented. The effect of reducing and increasing with taper width G, teper length L and opening angle are also considered at 5.8 GHz. In the result of a simulation by using CST-MWS, the return loss characteristic came very wide band about 4.3GHz, or 1.8 Octave. Proposed V-LTSA design schemes are expected to be a good antenna for microwave and millimeter-wave communcations.
In this study, two novel Schiff base compounds including (3-(4-Chlorophenyl isoxazole-5-yl) methanol and (3-(2,4 dichlorophenol isoxazole-5-yl) methanol as corrosion inhibitors for mild steel in 1 M hydrochloric acid solution were investigated by potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and density functional theory (DFT) computations. The results showed that the corrosion inhibition efficiency (IE) is remarkably enhanced with the growing concentration of the Schiff base inhibitors. The results from Tafel polarization and EIS methods showed that IE decreases with gradual increments of temperature. This process can be attributed to the displacement of the adsorption/desorption balance and hence to the diminution of the level of a surface coating. Also, the adsorption of two inhibitors over mild steel followed the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Too, the results of the scanning electron microscope (SEM) images showed that the Schiff base inhibitors form an excellent protective film over mild steel and verified the results by electrochemical techniques. Additionally, the results from the experimental and those from DFT computations are in excellent accordance.
Due to advancement of the industry, operation of a device in a harsh environment is increasing. Especially, the marine environment contains Cl- ions which causes localized corrosion such as pitting and crevice corrosion of stainless steel and various metals. In this study, electrochemical corrosion behaviors of austenitic stainless steel (STS 316L) and nickel alloy (Inconel 600) with different seawater concentrations (fresh water, seawater, mixed water) were investigated. The STS 316L and Inconel 600 were etched in 10% oxalic acid and composed of an austenitic phase. Results of Tafel analysis in seawater showed that STS 316L and Inconel 600 presented the highest corrosion current densities of 7.75 × 10-4 mA/cm2 and 1.11 × 10-4 mA/cm2 and the most negative pitting potentials of 0.94 V and 1.06 V, respectively. The maximum damage depths and surface damage ratio by pitting corrosion increased with chloride concentration. The STS 316L had higher PREN than Inconel 600. However, the surface damage and weight loss of Inconel 600 were superior to STS 316L. It was difficult to compare the pitting resistance of STS 316L based on Fe and Inconel 600 based on Ni with PREN simply.
Through a simple filtration process, followed by carbonization within a reductive environment, coffee waste grounds can be transformed into a non-porous hard carbon for use in multiple contexts. This resulting coffee-waste carbon has been evaluated as an eco-friendly and cost-effective replacement for conventional graphite. When compared with different types of carbon, our study found that the coffee-waste carbon fell into the category of hard carbon, as verified from the galvanostatic charge/discharge profiles. The coffee-waste carbon showed a superior rate capability when compared to that of graphite, while compromising smaller capacity at low C rates. During electrochemical reactions, it was also found that the coffee-waste carbon is well exposed to electrolytes, and its disordered characteristic is advantageous for ionic transport which leads to the low tortuosity of Li ions. Finally, the high irreversible capacity (low initial Coulombic efficiency) of the coffee-waste carbon, which if also often observed in amorphous carbon, can be adequately resolved through a solution-based prelithiation process, thereby proving that the coffee-waste carbon material is quite suitable for commercial use as an anode material for quickly-chargeable electrodes.
This study aims to optimize the DL-EPR test solution for duplex stainless steel S31083 using the Taguchi design. The test solution parameters applied to the Taguchi design are H2SO4, NaCl, KSCN concentration, and temperature. In the experimental design, an orthogonal array of 4 levels 4 factor L16(44) was used. Output values for the orthogonal array were used for resolution (degree of sensitization) and selective etch (Ia) values. The optimal test solution conditions were selected by comparing the normalized S/N ratio for the two reaction properties. As a result, the H2SO4 and NaCl were identified as the main factors influencing the sensitivity measurement, but the delta statistics showed that the KSCN concentration and temperature had relatively low influence. The optimal condition was identified as 1.5 M H2SO4+0.03 M KSCN+1.5M NaCl at 30 ℃. The degree of sensitization presented a tendency to depend on the heat treatment temperature and time in the optimal test solution. This investigation confirmed the possibility of optimizing the experiment solution for the DL-EPR test of stainless steel using the Taguchi technique.
Additively manufactured (AM) Ti-6Al-4V alloys exhibit a dominant acicular martensite phase (α'), which is characterized by an unstable energy state and highly localized corrosion susceptibility. Electrochemical critical localized corrosion temperature (E-CLCT, ISO 22910: 2020) and electrochemical critical localized corrosion potential (E-CLCP, ISO AWI 4631: 2021) were measured to analyze the localized corrosion resistance of the AM Ti-6Al-4V alloy. Although E-CLCP was measured under mild corrosive conditions such as human body, the validity of evaluating localized corrosion resistance of AM titanium alloys was demonstrated by comparison with E-CLCT. However, the mechanisms of resistance to localized corrosion on the as-received and heat-treated AM Ti-6Al-4V alloys under E-CLCT and E-CLCP differ at various temperatures because of differences in properties under localized corrosion and repassivation. The E-CLCT is mainly measured for initiation of localized corrosion on the AM titanium alloys based on temperature, whereas the E-CLCP yields repassivation potential of re-generated passive films of AM titanium alloys after breaking down.
In this work, we describe the effect of pulse anodizing duty ratio on the corrosion resistance of anodic films in magnesium AZ31B. The process involves the application of square pulse potential for a constant period with a duty ratio varying from 40, 60 and 80%. In several samples, a sealing treatment for 30 minutes was conducted after anodization in order to seal the pores available in the anodic layer. After anodizing, the surface morphology of the anodic layer was examined using a scanning electron microscope (SEM Hitachi SU3500). The corrosion characteristics of the sample were evaluated through an open circuit potential (OCP) and potentiodynamic polarization test using potentiogalvanostat. SEM observation shows that the increase of anodization duty ratio (α) results in a more uniform anodic layer, with fewer pores and cracks. The increase of duty ratio (α) decreases the OCP value from approximately -1.475 to about -1.6 Volt, and significantly improves the corrosion resistance of the anodic coating by 68%. The combination of anodization and sealing treatment produces an anodic coating with a very low corrosion rate of 4.4 mpy.
