  • The solidification crack susceptifility of aluminum alloy weld metal have been evaluated by means of the slef restraint and external restraint cracking test. It has been observed expermently as follows : (1) The manganese is beneficial to decrease the solidification cracking susceptibility. (2) Weld metal containing zirconium is less sensitive to the solidification cracking than the weld metal containing chromium does. (3) The self restraint test method shows the same tendency in results as the external restraint test does.

  • The primary water stress corrosion cracking (PWSCC) of dissimilar metal weld based on Alloy 82/182 is one of major issues in material degradation of nuclear components. It is well known that the crack initiation and growth due to PWSCC is influenced by material's susceptibility to PWSCC and distribution of welding residual stress. Therefore, modeling the welding residual stress is of interest in understanding crack formation and growth in dissimilar metal weld. Currently in Korea, a numerical round robin study is undertaken to provide guidance on the welding residual stress analysis of dissimilar metal weld. As a part of this effort, the present paper investigates distribution of welding resisual stress of a ferritic low alloy steel nozzle with dissimilar metal weld using Alloy 82/182. Two-dimensional thermo-mechanical finite element analyses are carried out to simulate multi-pass welding process on the basis of the detailed design and fabrication data. The present results are compared with those from other participants, and more works incorporating physical measurements are going to be performed to quantify the uncertainties relating to modelling assumptions.

저탄소성 용접금속의 응고균열에 미치는 탄소함량의 영향 (The effect of carbon content on hot cracking of low carbon steel weld)

  • The effect of carbon content on hot cracking of welded carbon steel was investigated Eight steel plates whose carbon content range from 0.02 to 0.23 percent were welded by autogeous gas tungsten are process. Constant strain was applied to the hot crack test specimen under the strain rate of 0.15 mm per second during welding. The hot cracking susceptibility ws high in the rnage of 0.02-0.05 and 0.12-0.23 percent carbon contents. The critical carbon content immune to hot cracking is in the range from 0.07 to 0.12 percent carbon. By electron probe microanalyser, amanganese segregation was not seen significantly in the whole carbon range. But segregation of silicon was higher in the region of low carbon contents. However, sulphur was segregated remarkably in the region betwen 0.18 and 0.23 percent carbon by peritectic reaction. Very smal lamount of dnedritic structure was observed in the region from 0.02 to 0.05 percent carbon by peritectic reaction. Very small amount of dendritic structure was observed in the region from 0.02 to 0.05 percent carbon but the predominant solidification structure was smooth by cellular growth. The higher the carbon content is, the more the columnar dendritic structure was observed.

12Cr 합금강의 부식특성 및 인공열화된 12Cr합금강의 피로특성 (Corrosive Characterisics of 12Cr Alloy Steel and Fatigue Characteristics of the Artificially Degraded 12Cr Alloy Steel)

  • To estimate the reliability of 12Cr alloy steel, the material of turbine blade in the steam power plant, Its corrosion susceptibility and fatigue characteristics in NaCl and Na$_2$SO$_4$solution with the difference of concentration and temperature was investigated. The polarization tests recommended in ASTM G5 standard for corrosion susceptibility in the various corrosive solutions was estimated. It showed that the higher temperature, the faster corrosion rates and corrosion rates were the fastest in 3.5 wt.% NaCl and 1M Na$_2$SO$_4$solution. From these results, the degradation conditions were determined in distilled water, 3.5 wt.% NaCl and 1M Na$_2$SO$_4$solution at room temperature, 60$\^{C}$ and 90$\^{C}$ during 3, 6 and 9 months. Its surface had a few pits for long duration. But, it was not susceptible in sulfide and chloride condition of several temperatures. If the degraded 12Cr alloy steel and non-degraded one were compared with fatigue characteristics, Any differences were not found regardless of temperature and degradation period.

램파와 압전소자 극성을 사용한 강구조의 실시간 균열손상 감지기법 개발 (Baseline-Free Crack Detection in Steel Structures using Lamb Waves and PZT Polarity)

  • 이 연구에서는 강교량과 같은 토목 구조물에서 유도파의(Guided waves)한 종류인 램파(Lamb wave)를 이용하여 실시간으로 균열손상을 감지할 수 있는 새로운 비파괴 검사방법을 제안한다. 기존의 유도파를 이용한 기술들은, 손상을 감지하기 위해 비손상 상태의 자료를 저장하고 이를 새로이 얻어진 결과와 비교하는 방법을 사용함으로써 잠재적인 손상을 진단해 왔다. 그러나, 공용중인 강구조물은 다양한 하중 뿐 아니라 상시로 변화하는 자연환경에 노출되어 있기 때문에 동일한 비손상 상태의 응답을 얻는 것이 매우 어려우며 이러한 방법을 적용할 경우 오보(false alarm)의 우려도 매우 높다고 할 수 있다. 따라서 이 연구에서는 보다 안정적인 손상감지기법을 개발하기 위해 기존에 얻어진 초기치를 이용하지 않으면서 실시간으로 손상 여부를 판단할 수 있는 방법을 제안하고자 한다. 이 연구에서 제안된 감지 기술은, 압전소자의 극성과 판파의 특성을 이용하는 것으로 얇은 판의 양면에 부착된 압전소자를 통하여 균열손상에 의한 신호를 선택적으로 감지해 내는 데에 그 목적이 있다. 균열이 발생한 판에서 진행하는 판파는 균열로 인한 판의 두께변화로 인해 모드 변화를 일으키게 되는데, 제안된 감지기법으로 이러한 모드 변화만을 선택적으로 추출할 수 있다. 다양한 수치해석과 실험을 통해 이 연구에서 제안된 손상감지기법의 효율성과 적용성을 입증한다.

Cr-Mo 합금강의 후열처리 균열 감수성 평가 (Evaluation of PWHT cracking susceptibility of the Cr-Mo steel alloys)

  • 초기 응력부식균열에 대한 감수성 평가 시험법인 C링 시험법(C-ring Test)은 용접부의 후열처리 균열감수성을 평가하는 시험법으로 적합하다고 알려져 있다. C링 시험법은 실제 용접부 열영향부에 노치를 제작하여 잔류응력이 열영향부에 미치는 영향을 평가할 수 있다는 장점을 가지고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에는 C링 시험법을 이용하여 원자력 발전소 압력용기에 사용되는 Co-Mo강의 용접부 결함 발생 현상을 검토 하고자 Co-Mo강에 대하여 후열처리를 실시하였으며, C링 시험법을 통하여 용접 열영향부의 후열처리 균열을 평가하고자한다. 결론은 다음과 같다. 바나듐 모디파이 합금(AMAX 3Cr-1Mo­-0.1V, JSW 3Cr-­1Mo-­V-­Ti-­B 및 JSW $2\frac{1}{4}Cr$-1Mo-­V-­Ti-­B강)은 Berkeley $3Cr-1\frac{1}{2}Mo-\frac{1}{2}Ti$$2\frac{1}{4}Cr$-­1Mo합금강보다 후열처리 균열에 대한 감수성 보다 높게 나타났다. C-ring 시험에 있어서 바나듐 모디파이 합금은 2종의 후열처리조건과 3종의 응력조건에서 모두 균열을 나타냈으나 Berkeley $3Cr-1\frac{1}{2}Mo-\frac{1}{2}Ni$강과 Luken $2\frac{1}{4}Cr-1Mo0.1C$재료는 690MPa와 더 이상의 응력조건에서 2종의 후열처리를 실시하는 조건에서도 균열이 발생하지 않았다. C-ring 시험결과, 균열깊이는 바나듐 모디파이 재료인 경우, 낮은 후열처리온도와 비교해서 높은 후열처리온도인 경우가 감소하고 있다. C-ring 시험에 대한 SEM분석결과 균열은 오스테나이트 결정 입계를 따라 파괴되는 파괴양상을 나타내고 있으며 연성파면은 나타나지 않았다.

  • To investigate transition region in welded overlay relating to disbonding crack, the effect of vanadium addition on disbonding of Cr-Mo steels overlay welded with austenitic stainless steel was studied. V modified Cr-Mo steels have a higher resistance to disbonding than V free Cr-Mo steel. One reason is due to the fact that fine vanadium carbide precipated in base metal traps hydrogen and thus decreases the susceptibility to the disbonding. The second is related to the higher stability of the vanadium and stable carbides formed during PWHT, in which the carbon diffusion to the interface is lower than for V free Cr-Mo steel. Decreasing the carbon content at the interface of the weld overlay shows good resistance to the disbonding. Hence, it is important to control the carbon content at the interface of the weld overlay.

Improvement of delayed hydride cracking assessment of PWR spent fuel during dry storage

  • In a previous study, delayed hydride cracking (DHC) assessment of pressurized water reactor (PWR) spent fuel during dry storage using the threshold stress intensity factor (KIH) was performed. However, there were a few limitations in the analysis of the cladding properties, such as oxide thickness and mechanical properties. In this study, those models were modified to include test data for irradiated materials, and the cladding creep model was introduced to improve the reliability of the DHC assessment. In this study, DHC susceptibility of PWR spent fuel during dry storage depending on the axial elevation was evaluated with the improved assessment methodology. In addition, the sensitivity of affecting parameters such as fuel burnup, hydride thickness, and crack aspect ratio are presented.

  • The internal leaks of RCS pressure boundary valves may cause thermal fatigue crack because of the TASCS in RCS branch line. After experienced unisolable piping failures in several PWR plants, many studies have peformed to understand these phenomena and various methods were applied to ensure the structural integrity of piping. In this paper, the cause of unisolable piping failures and the alternatives to prevent recurrence of failure were reviewed. Also, the severity of piping failure including susceptibility of valve leaks was evaluated for the Westinghouse 2-loop plant. The length of turbulent penetration on RHR inlet piping was measured and, thermal fluid analysis and fatigue analysis was performed for this piping. As a means of ensuring the structural integrity, temperature monitoring and specialized UT and other alternatives were compared for the further application.

오스테나이트계 스테인레스강의 육성 용접부에서 고온균열 감수성에 미치는 용접입열의 영향

  • The effect of heat input on the content of residual .delta.-ferrite and the hot cracking susceptibility in the austenitic stainless steel overlaid on the carbon steel was studied in the range of heat input from 7.5 to 15.1 KJ/cm. Present study shows that residual .delta.-ferrite content in the overlay is mainly determined by the dilution of the base metal (carbon steel) which is in turn affected by heat input, i.e. the amount of dilution decreases as heat input increase. Accordingly, higher heat input results in a substantial increase in Cr equivalent but a little increase in Ni equivalent due to the less dilution of carbon from base metal. This fact can explain the result obtained in this study, i, e, the higher content of .delta.-ferrite in the weld deposit made with higher heat input. This in turn causes more resistant overlaying weld metal to hot cracking.
