  • The log has variable informations that are important and necessary to manage a network when accessed to network servers. These informations are used to reduce a cost and efficient manage a network through the meaningful prediction information extraction from the amount of user access. And, the network manager can instantly monitor the status of CPU, memory, disk usage ratio on network using the SNMP. In this paper, firstly, we have accumulated and analysed the 6 network logs and extracted the informations that used to predict the amount of user access. And then, we experimented the prediction simulation with the time series analysis such as moving average method and exponential smoothing. Secondly, we have simulated the usage ration of CPU, memory, and disk using Xian SNMP simulator and extracted the OID for the time series prediction of CPU, memory, and disk usage ration. And then, we presented the visual result of the variable experiments through the Excel and R programming language.

  • Military wargame simulation models must support the HLA in order to facilitate interoperability with other simulations, and using parallel simulation engines offer efficiency in reducing system overhead generated by propelling interoperability. However, legacy military simulation model engines process events using sequential event-driven method. This is due to problems generated by parallel processing such as synchronous reference to global data domains. Additionally. using legacy simulation platforms result in insufficient utilization of multiple CPUs even if a multiple CPU system is under use. Therefore, in this paper, we propose conversing the simulation engine to an object model-based parallel simulation engine to ensure military wargame model's improved system processing capability, synchronous reference to global data domains, external simulation time processing, and the sequence of parallel-processed events during a crash recovery. The converted parallel simulation engine is designed and implemented to enable parallel execution on a multiple CPU system (SMP).

  • The application traffic analysis is getting more and more challenging due to the huge amount of traffic from high-speed network link and variety of applications running on wired and wireless Internet devices. Multi-level combination of various analysis methods is desired to achieve high completeness and accuracy of analysis results for a real-time analysis system, while requires much of processing burden on the contrary. This paper proposes a novel architecture for a real-time traffic analysis system which improves the processing performance on multi-core CPU environment. The main contribution of the proposed architecture is an efficient parallel processing mechanism with multiple threads of various analysis methods. The feasibility of the proposed architecture was proved by implementing and deploying it on our campus network.

  • Trackers, especially long-term (LT) trackers, now have a more complex structure and more intensive computation for nowadays' endless pursuit of high accuracy and robustness. However, computing efficiency of LT trackers cannot meet the real-time requirement in various real application scenarios. Considering heterogeneous CPU-GPU platforms have been more popular than ever, it is a challenge to exploit the computing capacity of heterogeneous platform to improve the efficiency of LT trackers for real-time requirement. This paper focuses on TLD, which is the first LT tracking framework, and proposes an efficient parallel implementation based on OpenCL. In this paper, we firstly make an analysis of the TLD tracker and then optimize the computing intensive kernels, including Fern Feature Extraction, Fern Classification, NCC Calculation, Overlaps Calculation, Positive and Negative Samples Extraction. Experimental results demonstrate that our efficient parallel TLD tracker outperforms the original TLD, achieving the 3.92 speedup on CPU and GPU. Moreover, the parallel TLD tracker can run 52.9 frames per second and meet the real-time requirement.

  • In this paper, we describe the world's first real-time ray-tracing chip architecture. Ray-tracing technology generates high-quality 3D graphics images better than current rasterization technology by providing four essential light effects: shadow, reflection, refraction and transmission. The real-time ray-tracing chip named RayChip includes a real-time ray-tracing graphics processing unit and an accelerating tree-building unit. An ARM Ltd. central processing unit (CPU) and other peripherals are also included to support all processes of 3D graphics applications. Using the accelerating tree-building unit named RayTree to minimize the CPU load, the chip uses a low-end CPU and decreases both silicon area and power consumption. The evaluation results with RayChip show appropriate performance to support real-time ray tracing in high-definition (HD) resolution, while the rendered images are scaled to full HD resolution. The chip also integrates the Linux operating system and the familiar OpenGL for Embedded Systems application programming interface for easy application development.

  • Improvement of the multichannel sea surface temperature(MCSST) software, which had been developed for the purpose of operating under mainframe computer system, was seeked in order to operate effectively in a mini computer system. CPU time and processing time, which is not a major factor under mainframe computer system, become a critical factor in real time image processing under mini computer system. Due to fixed kernel size(3$\times$4) of the old MCSST software, high spatial resolution characteristics of the original image received from satellites were apparently degraded when images are transformed into a cartesian coordinate system after geometrical distortions of the image due to earth curvature are removed. CPU and processing time were reduced to 0.13 and 0.15~0.22 comparing with the old MCSST's, respectively, by applying disk block I/O and M/T queue I/O method under VAX-11/750 computer. The high resolution quality (1.1km in AVHRR) of the processed image was guaranted using 2$\times$2 kernel size and applying moving window techniques without sacrificing CPU and processing time much.

  • Since previous work CDP(Congestion Driven Placement) [1] considers all possible directions to move every cell in nets which contribute highly to routing congestion, it consumes CPU time a lot. In this paper, we propose a faster global placement technique, so called ICDGP(Improved Congestion Driven Global Placement) to relieve the routing congestion. ICDGP uses the force-directed method to determine the target locations of the cells in the nets in the congested spots, and considers only to move the target location for each cell. If moving multiple cells simultaneously is considered better than moving each cell one by one it moves multiple cells simultaneously. By experimental results, ICDGP produces less congested placement than CDP does. Particularly, the CPU time is reduced by 36% on average.

  • Network event analysis gives useful information on the network status that helps protect attacks. It involves finding sets of frequently used packet information such as IP addresses and requires real-time processing by its nature. Apriori algorithm used for data mining can be applied to find frequent item sets, but is not suitable for analyzing network events on real-time due to the high usage of CPU and memory and thus low processing speed. This paper develops a network event audit module by applying association rules to network events using a new algorithm instead of Apriori algorithm. Test results show that the application of the new algorithm gives drastically low usage of both CPU and memory for network event analysis compared with existing Apriori algorithm.

  • Recently, most of the embedded system is required not only many functions but also real-time characteristics in purpose. In the hard real-time system, especially, strict deadline of periodic task can affect the performance of the system. In this paper, we design and implement the scheduler based on RM(Rate-Monotonic) rule. This scheduler makes feasible patterns based on EDF(Earliest deadline first) rule with extended schedulability inspection before execution, for periodic task-set that has high CPU utilization and then, execute periodic task-set depended on feasible patterns. The feasible pattern formed into EDF rule is capable of the efficiency of CPU up to 100 percentage and by the referenced execution of the feasible pattern is possible of removing the red-time scheduling overhead that is the defect of the order of dynamic assignment rule.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient parallel implementation method of a widely used complex four-stage fire detection algorithm using a graphics processing unit (GPU) to improve the performance of the algorithm and analyze the performance of the parallel implementation method. In addition, we use seven different resolution videos (QVGA, VGA, SVGA, XGA, SXGA+, UXGA, QXGA) as inputs of the four-stage fire detection algorithm. Moreover, we compare the performance of the GPU-based approach with that of the CPU implementation for each different resolution video. Experimental results using five different fire videos with seven different resolutions indicate that the execution time of the proposed GPU implementation outperforms that of the CPU implementation in terms of execution time and takes a 25.11ms per frame for the UXGA resolution video, satisfying real-time processing (30 frames per second, 30fps) of the fire detection algorithm.
