This paper presents design and verification of a face detection hardware for real time application. Face detection algorithm detects rough face position based on already acquired feature parameter data. The hardware is composed of five main modules: Integral Image Calculator, Feature Coordinate Calculator, Feature Difference Calculator, Cascade Calculator, and Window Detection. It also includes on-chip Integral Image memory and Feature Parameter memory. The face detection hardware was verified by using S3C2440A CPU of Samsung Electronics, Virtex4LX100 FPGA of Xilinx, and a CCD Camera module. Our design uses 3,251 LUTs of Xilinx FPGA and takes about 1.96
Moving object boundary is very important for the accurate segmentation of moving object. We extract the moving object boundary from the moving object edge. But the object boundary shows broken boundaries so we develop a novel boundary linking algorithm to link the broken boundaries. The boundary linking algorithm forms a quadrant around the terminating pixel in the broken boundaries and searches for other terminating pixels to link in concentric circles clockwise within a search radius in the forward direction. The boundary linking algorithm guarantees the shortest distance linking. We register the background from the image sequence using the stationary background filtering. We construct two object masks, one object mask from the boundary linking and the other object mask from the initial moving object, and use these two complementary object masks to segment the moving objects. The main contribution of the proposed algorithms is the development of the novel object boundary linking algorithm for the accurate segmentation. We achieve the accurate segmentation of moving object, the segmentation of multiple moving objects, the segmentation of the object which has a hole within the object, the segmentation of thin objects, and the segmentation of moving objects in the complex background using the novel object boundary linking and the background automatically. We experiment the algorithms using standard MPEG-4 test video sequences and real video sequences of indoor and outdoor environments. The proposed algorithms are efficient and can process 70.20 QCIF frames per second and 19.7 CIF frames per second on the average on a Pentium-IV 3.4GHz personal computer for real-time object-based processing.
Grid is a new Information Technology (IT) concept of "super Internet" for high-performance computing: worldwide collections of high-end resources such as supercomputers, storage, advanced instruments and immerse environments. The Grid is expected to bring together geographically and organizationally dispersed computational resources, such as CPUs, storage systems, communication systems, real-time data sources and instruments, and human collaborators. The term "the Grid" was coined in the mid1990s to denote a proposed distributed computing infrastructure for advanced science and engineering. The term computational Grids refers to infrastructures aimed at allowing users to access and/or aggregate potentially large numbers of powerful and sophisticated resources. More formally, Grids are defined as infrastructure allowing flexible, secure, and coordinated resource sharing among dynamic collections of individuals, institutions and resources referred to as virtual Organizations. GRID is an emerging IT as a kind of next generation Internet technology which will fit very well with agrometeorological services in the future. I believe that it would contribute to the resource sharing in agrometeorology by providing super computing power, virtual storage, and efficient data exchanges, especially for developing countries that are suffering from the lack of resources for their agmet services at national level. Thus, the establishment of CAgM-GRID based on existing RADMINSII is proposed as a part of FWIS of WMO.part of FWIS of WMO.
Submerged thin walls are extreme case of submerged rectangular blocks, and could be used for many purposes in rivers or coastal zones, e.g. to tsunami. To understand flow characteristics including flow and pressure fields around a specific submerged thin wall a numerical model was applied which includes computation of hydrodynamic pressure on
This study was conducted to develop an on-line monitoring system for a forest hydrological environment and its meteorological condition, such as temperature, wind direction and speed, rainfall and water level on V-notch, electrical conductivity(EC), potential of hydrogen(PH) by the motor drive sensor unit and measurement with a single-chip microprocessor as controller. These results are summarized as follows ; 1. The monitoring system consists of a signal process unit, motor drive sensor unit, radio modem unit and power supply. 2. The motor drive sensor unit protects the sensor from swift current or freezing and can constantly maintain fixed water level during measurements. 3. This monitoring system can transfer the data by radio modem. Additionally, this system can monitor hydrological conditions in real time. 4. The hardware was made of several modules with an independent CPU. They can be mounted, removed, repaired and added to. Their function can be changed and expanded. 5. These are the result of an accuracy test, the values of temperature, EC and pH measured within an error range of
The more growing on home automation system at automatic control, the more efficiency required for energy consumption and for recycling energy in near future. Heating is essential in general apartment. Heating method is two types in apartment. One uses electricity, and other one uses warm water. If use electricity, is not efficient by rise of electric charges. But, It can reduce much in expense aspect, if use warm water. When use warm water, temperature of warm water is not equal from all pipe parts. Therefore, indoor tempera can be unequal with set point. Solution of these problems is as following. Temperature sensor in warm water attach pipe. The measured temperature transmits by real time. Temperature of warm water controls in receiver side. In this paper, we propose an automatic temperature transmission system for the heating pipe at home, that is a low-power based, and supply the energy source from a small AC motor resided in bottom cement mortal. The proposed system is used in power mechanism from a collision process of water-jet using propeller water-difference and also designed a CPU module by Atmega8 at ATMEL co., Inc. and a communication module by CC1020 at Chipcon co., Inc.
We have developed a prototype patient monitoring system including module-based bedside units, interbed network, and central stations. A bedside unit consists of a color monitor and a main CPU unit with peripherals including a module controller. It can also include up to 3 module cases and 21 different modules. In addition to the 3-channel recorder module, six different physiological parameters of ECG, respiration, invasive blood pressure, noninvasive blood pressure, body temperature, and arterial pulse oximetry with plethysmogaph are provided as parameter modules. Modules and a module controller communicate with up to 1Mbps data rate through an intrabed network based on RS-485 and HDLC protocol. Bedside units can display up to 12 channels of waveforms with any related numeric informations simultaneously. At the same time, it communicates with other bedside units and central stations through interbed network based on 10Mbps Ethernet and TCP/IP protocol. Software far bedside units and central stations fully utilizes gaphical user interface techniques and all functions are controlled by a rotate/push button on bedside unit and a mouse on central station. The entire system satisfies the requirements of AAMI and ANSI standards in terms of electrical safety and performances. In order to accommodate more advanced data management capabilities such as 24-hour full disclosure, we are developing a relational database server dedicated to the patient monitoring system. We are also developing a clinical workstation with which physicians can review and examine the data from patients through various kinds of computer networks far diagnosis and report generation. Portable bedside units with LCD display and wired or wireless data communication capability will be developed in the near future. New parameter modules including cardiac output, capnograph, and other gas analysis functions will be added.
Language models were originally developed for speech recognition and language processing. Using a set of example sentences, a language model predicts the next word or character based on sequential input data. N-gram models have been widely used but this model cannot model the correlation between the input units efficiently since it is a probabilistic model which are based on the frequency of each unit in the training set. Recently, as the deep learning algorithm has been developed, a recurrent neural network (RNN) model and a long short-term memory (LSTM) model have been widely used for the neural language model (Ahn, 2016; Kim et al., 2016; Lee et al., 2016). These models can reflect dependency between the objects that are entered sequentially into the model (Gers and Schmidhuber, 2001; Mikolov et al., 2010; Sundermeyer et al., 2012). In order to learning the neural language model, texts need to be decomposed into words or morphemes. Since, however, a training set of sentences includes a huge number of words or morphemes in general, the size of dictionary is very large and so it increases model complexity. In addition, word-level or morpheme-level models are able to generate vocabularies only which are contained in the training set. Furthermore, with highly morphological languages such as Turkish, Hungarian, Russian, Finnish or Korean, morpheme analyzers have more chance to cause errors in decomposition process (Lankinen et al., 2016). Therefore, this paper proposes a phoneme-level language model for Korean language based on LSTM models. A phoneme such as a vowel or a consonant is the smallest unit that comprises Korean texts. We construct the language model using three or four LSTM layers. Each model was trained using Stochastic Gradient Algorithm and more advanced optimization algorithms such as Adagrad, RMSprop, Adadelta, Adam, Adamax, and Nadam. Simulation study was done with Old Testament texts using a deep learning package Keras based the Theano. After pre-processing the texts, the dataset included 74 of unique characters including vowels, consonants, and punctuation marks. Then we constructed an input vector with 20 consecutive characters and an output with a following 21st character. Finally, total 1,023,411 sets of input-output vectors were included in the dataset and we divided them into training, validation, testsets with proportion 70:15:15. All the simulation were conducted on a system equipped with an Intel Xeon CPU (16 cores) and a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 GPU. We compared the loss function evaluated for the validation set, the perplexity evaluated for the test set, and the time to be taken for training each model. As a result, all the optimization algorithms but the stochastic gradient algorithm showed similar validation loss and perplexity, which are clearly superior to those of the stochastic gradient algorithm. The stochastic gradient algorithm took the longest time to be trained for both 3- and 4-LSTM models. On average, the 4-LSTM layer model took 69% longer training time than the 3-LSTM layer model. However, the validation loss and perplexity were not improved significantly or became even worse for specific conditions. On the other hand, when comparing the automatically generated sentences, the 4-LSTM layer model tended to generate the sentences which are closer to the natural language than the 3-LSTM model. Although there were slight differences in the completeness of the generated sentences between the models, the sentence generation performance was quite satisfactory in any simulation conditions: they generated only legitimate Korean letters and the use of postposition and the conjugation of verbs were almost perfect in the sense of grammar. The results of this study are expected to be widely used for the processing of Korean language in the field of language processing and speech recognition, which are the basis of artificial intelligence systems.
The wall shear stress in the vicinity of end-to end anastomoses under steady flow conditions was measured using a flush-mounted hot-film anemometer(FMHFA) probe. The experimental measurements were in good agreement with numerical results except in flow with low Reynolds numbers. The wall shear stress increased proximal to the anastomosis in flow from the Penrose tubing (simulating an artery) to the PTFE: graft. In flow from the PTFE graft to the Penrose tubing, low wall shear stress was observed distal to the anastomosis. Abnormal distributions of wall shear stress in the vicinity of the anastomosis, resulting from the compliance mismatch between the graft and the host artery, might be an important factor of ANFH formation and the graft failure. The present study suggests a correlation between regions of the low wall shear stress and the development of anastomotic neointimal fibrous hyperplasia(ANPH) in end-to-end anastomoses. 30523 T00401030523 ^x Air pressure decay(APD) rate and ultrafiltration rate(UFR) tests were performed on new and saline rinsed dialyzers as well as those roused in patients several times. C-DAK 4000 (Cordis Dow) and CF IS-11 (Baxter Travenol) reused dialyzers obtained from the dialysis clinic were used in the present study. The new dialyzers exhibited a relatively flat APD, whereas saline rinsed and reused dialyzers showed considerable amount of decay. C-DAH dialyzers had a larger APD(11.70
