서울시는 1995년 이후에 추진된 부서별 GIS 구축으로 인하여 발생된 공간정보 공유 및 활용에 관한 문제점을 개선하고 엔터프라이즈 GIS로 발전하기 위하여 공간데이터웨어하우스(SDW)를 구축하기로 결정하였다. 이에 본 연구에서는 서울시 SDW의 기본 구조를 바탕으로 첫째, 서울시 각 부서, 자치구, 사업소 및 유관기관의 GIS데이터 수요에 대응하며 서울시 GIS 데이터의 기준이 되는 SDW 내부의 GIS 데이터베이스 내용을 결정하기 위한 일련의 과정과 방법을 제시하고자 하며, 둘째 GIS 데이터 생성부서와 이용부서간의 데이터 일치방안을 마련하여 공간 데이터의 효과적인 공유 및 활용과 SDW의 원활한 운영에 기여하고자 하며 이를 통해서 향후 다른 지방자치단체의 엔터프라이즈 GIS 구축에 있어 가이드라인을 제공하고자 한다.

Recently, the rise of the rail temperature is accelerating further due to the global warming, and the track stability(buckling) problem result from the axial force in the continuous welded rail(CWR) have become the most important issue. This track stability threatens the security of running trains in the hot summer. In order to prevent the track buckling in the hot summer and ensure the safety of the running train, as a part of the safety control plan for KORAIL high-speed railway, the train speed restriction according to the rail temperature was introduced in 2004. However, the conceptual and theoretical background of train-speed restriction is uncertain. In this paper, the theoretical study about the reasonable train-speed restriction is performed. For this purpose, the risk-based probabilistic stability evaluation of the track buckling is applied.

COMS(Communication, Ocean, and Meteorological Satellite) is the geostationary satellite for the mission of satellite communication, ocean monitoring, and meteorological service. It is scheduled to be launched at the end of 2008. Ocean payload of COMS named as GOCI(Geostationary Ocean Color Imager) observes ocean color and derives the chlorophyll concentrlition, the concentration of dissolved organic material and so on. In operational oceanography, satellite derived data products are used to provide forecasting and now casting of the ocean and coastal water state. In this work, conceptual design of structural part of GOCI is carried out and two baseline concepts are proposed. The one is dioptric module that uses lens system and the other is TMA(Three Mirror Anastigmat) module that uses mirror system. Trade-off studies between two concepts are investigated by considering optical and mechanical performances. Finally, on-going tasks and future development plan are briefly discussed.

Design took a radical turn in the 1980's, deconstructing the rigid ideology of the Modernism, often with great humor. Contemporary representable Avant-garde designers, Philippe Starck and Ron Arad brazenly borrowed from the 'historical elements' of previous styles and created bio-morphic forms with whimsical names of furniture. This study is proposed to understand the diversity of contemporary design, by comparing these two furniture designers. It also covers the common factors in contemporary furniture design, and analyzes their individual differences and similarities in design. It helps to plan the foundation of design methods for 21C, and predict and respond to the future as a reference point. Philippe Starck links Romantic Rationalism within Minimal style and Ron Arad links Deconstructivism within High-tech style but both of them pursue of Organic concept design in their furniture through the concept of humanism. They are able to establish a base of contemporary furniture design by adapting new conceptual form, and design process for the general public.

Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) has a plan to launch COMS for consistent monitoring of the Korean Peninsula. Korea Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI) is one of the main payloads of COMS which will provide a monitoring of ocean-colour around the Korean Peninsula from geostationary platforms. Ocean color observation from geostationary platform is required to achieve the proper spatial and temporal resolution for coastal observation mission. In this paper the characteristics of GOCI and LEO sensors are discussed. GOCI will provide the measurement data of 6 visible channels and 2 near-infrared channels (400nm ~ 900nm). The integration time and aperture diameter required to achieve the SNR specification of KGOCI are analyzed.

The paper aims at presenting a systematic approach process and a method of requirement validation and system verification. Validation is applied during concept development to ensure conceptual validity, requirements validity, and design validity. Verification work is applied subsequent to the design work on test articles and early production items to produce evidence that the design solutions do, in fact, satisfy th requirements. In this paper, we present a requirements validation model and a system verification model. This models are applied to the development of TTX(Tilting Train Express)system with systems engineering tool, CORE.

In order to plan and manage public facilities effectively and efficiently, it is necessary to diagnose the current status of facilities and decide the objective features. Performance measurement is to provide managers with the information they need to measure competitive advantages. This paper discusses public facility performance in order to establish the conceptual framework for performance measurement for public facilities. In order to develop the measurement of public facility performance, a pilot study was conducted with facilities managers of facilities management corporation of public districts in Seoul. We investigated how public facilities management teams have assessed their performance and collected data regarding financial aspects, service aspects, community aspects, and building aspects. There is no standard format to measure facility performance since building sizes, programs, community needs widely differ. However, it is necessary to have a more consistent system to measure facility performance. In addition, each public municipal district needs to empower each district facilities management corporation to participate in managerial decisions and budget control.

The COM curriculum provides first a core of mathematics for all students, and then offers opportunities for students to enter different streams of mathematics studies. The flexible curriculum (COM) is certainly welcome as it focuses on a transition from concrete to conceptual mathematics and on sequentially learning the power of mathematical language and symbols from simple to complex. This approach emphasizes the use of computers in mathematics education in the upper secondary grades. In Mathematics A, one unit is developed to computer operation, flow charts and programming, and computation using the computer. In mathematics B, a chapter addresses algorithms and the computer where students learn the functions of computers, as well as programs of various algorithms. Mathematics C allots a chapter for numerical computation in which approximating solutions for equations, numerical integration, mensuration by parts, and approximation of integrals. But, unfortunately, they do not have any plan for the cooperation study.

Recently, we have recognized that ‘Soil Environmental Prevention Act’could not provide perfect solutions on many complicated problems which are now emerging and/or can be solved by adopting comprehensive policies. In this study, some suggestions were made to solve a few tangled problems such as conducting the Land Partnership Plan(LPP) project, investigating soil and ground water contamination of the industrial area, building a integrated information system for soil and ground water, establishing detailed guidelines for remediation and verification, and re-constructing the legal and institutional framework for integrated management of soil and ground water. These suggestions may help policy makers to build conceptual frameworks for solving these problems.

We plan to install the polarimetric optics in the AGU(acqusition and guiding unit) of the 1.8 m telescope at the BOAO(Bohyunsan Optical Astronomy Observatory). With this, the spectropolarimetric observations with the resolution of 45,000 and 60,000 in 4,000 to $8,000{\AA}$ ange could be done by the BOES(BOao Echelle Spectrograph). If we use the precision radial velocity measurement capability of the BOES, the accuracy of the magnetic field intensity measurements with this new BOES stokesmeter will be much increased. We present here the design concept of the BOES stokesmeter. Some details on the optics, mechanical parts, fiber parts and the lab test procedures of this stokesmeter are explained.
