실내색채팔레트에 대한 의미평가의 문화집단별 비교연구 (Cross-Cultural Study on the Meaning Evaluation and Preference in Color Palettes)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore how people's evaluation and preference on color palettes differ based on their cultural background. This study used the same color palettes developed by Youngsoon Park and Denise Guerin(1992). Fourteen representative adjectives are used to analyze the meaning evaluation and preference on the six color palletes. 425 undergraduate students are se-lected from Korea, Japan, U.S. and England and ques-tionnaire was used as survey instrument. The results show that there are significant differences among the four countries in the meaning evaluation and preferences on the color palettes and the characteristics of color palettes influence the differences among the countries. The differences among the countries decrease in case of color palettes composed of warm color with low or medium value difference and chroma difference, while the differences increase in case of color palette characterized by strong color contrast with high or medi-um value difference and chroma difference. The result of color meaning evaluation can be catego-rized into Western and Eastern culture. Korea and U.S., and Japan and U.S. showed significant differences in the most words and Korea and Japan showed similarities in the most words. Therefore it can be concluded that cul-tural backgrounds related to race, region and history in-fluence the color meaning evaluation and preference. Fur-ther study should explore the relationship between color and culture using more various color instruments such as color palettes in order to categorize the various aspects of culture.

Dyeing and Color Fastness Properties of Natural Dyed Actual Size Hanji

  • After manufacturing the natural dyed actual size Hanji using 11 kinds of plant natural dyeing materials and 2 kinds of animal natural dyeing materials, the color characteristics and color change and color fastness after post-mordanting were compared and discussed. The hues of 13 types of natural dyed Hanji were black, PB, and RP, each with 1 type, YP with 3 types, and Y with 7 types. Among the natural dyeing materials, Chinese ink, indigo and Lac showed high color yield and color difference, and violet-root cromwell and gardenia seeds showed low color yield. The color fastness of Hanji dyed with turpentine diluted Ottchil, Pagoda tree seeds, Chinese ink and indigo was excellent, while that of gardenia seeds and violet-root cromwell were very poor. After post-mordanting of natural dyed Hanji with Al, Cu, and Fe mordants, the hue changes were show up the Alnus firma, clove, lac and cochineal. In addition, the color difference was very diverse and was overall the most biggest due to Fe mordant. After 72 hr. of UV irradiation on post-mordanting natural dyed Hanji, hue change was observed in 3 types and color fastness was improved in 8 types by post-mordanting. The Hue and color fastness are significantly different depending on the type of natural dying materials and post-mordants. Therefore, when dyeing Hanji with natural dyes, it is necessary to dye with sufficient knowledges and informations about the desired color and fastness.

  • The skin color of a human being is the important memory color influencing image quality for color display. Therefore, in this paper, the preferred skin color axis is defined on HSV color space by analyzing some previous research, and the preferred skin color reproduction algorithm is performed by rotating the center axis of skin distribution of an input image to the preferred skin color axis.

  • Color is an imfortant factor for interior design. But both selecting the appropriate color and combinating many color are not easy. Actually designers spend much time searching interior images published in magazine to refer to previous cases of the color combination. And the side up, they undergo a process to try to search own hoping color in the interior design example of the magazine. As an alternative to avoid this inefficient process, this study provides a method to show good cases of color combination. This method can reduce trial and error in the determination the color combination.

  • It has been believed that the human body can be effected by color, sound, smell, and taste - each of them is based on the original character. Out of these elements, the color can be a mediation that absorbs energy into human body and adapts it to the creatures whose life are definitely based on the solar energy. This thesis makes a study of the possibility of applying the color to the oriental medical science by researching the color psychology and therapy which are studied in the west medical science, the recognition and application of color developed from orientalism, and the opinion of color in the oriental medical science. Color therapy is one of the psychological treatment techniques that are able to recover and maintain the health with the rays of the sun rays and the color. The light and the color have its energy that may relax, harmonize, encourage, or excite a human being. This is because the wavelength and the vibration of each color will take effects to human body. The core energy of absorbing and distributing the color vibration is made in the 7 "chakras" in the body, which are the pith and marrow of bio-energy directly connected with the center of the nervous system. There are several methods in the color therapy - the treatment of solar ray, the color-bath, the water-therapy using color energy, the inducement of the solar energy into the body, the acupuncture, the therapy of crystal and jewel, and the self-suggestion dependent upon the color. The color therapy can help us to keep our balance by changing the emotion into the positive energy that will cure the disease with color. As a result, this method not only must be useful to cure physical disease, or develop into good health but also will be used in conforming itself to the mental disease. The color therapy mainly uses the eight colors, which are made by mixing Red, Yellow and Blue basic colors in the field. They are never used in the treatment, but they will go along with complementary colors. This rule is closely connected with the theory of yin and yang which lies at the root of oriental philosophy, and with the treatment principle of oriental medical science whose field is focused on the balancing the body mentally as well as physically. In the East, it is the Obangsaek - the color of blue, red, yellow, white, and black in the theory of yin and yang and the five elements that have been used in helping people having trouble with their health for a long time. In the view of the oriental medical science, these five colors attached the theory of five-elements have been very useful to the physiology, the pathology, or the diagnosis, and been applied to the medical treatment, combining themselves with a five-taste in medicinal herbs. Since the study of color and human physiology has been made in some different interest and fields these days, it goes to prove that the different function of color we couldn't have got before becomes very useful to the medical science. The color must be worth researching the diversity for applying itself to the oriental medical science.

모바일 앱을 위한 배색 추천 시스템에 관한 연구 -머티리얼 디자인 컬러 시스템의 색채 추천 방법을 중심으로 (A Study on Color Recommendation System for Mobile App -Focused on the Method of Color Recommendation for the Material Design Color System)

  • 본 연구는 모바일 앱 배색을 위한 색채 추천 시스템의 활용을 위한 연구이다. 이를 위해 선택 색상에 조화되는 색채를 자동으로 추천해주는 머티리얼 시스템과 모바일 웹 앱의 3 배색을 모바일 앱 디자인에 적용하여 배색 실험을 하였다. 그리고 두 가지 방법의 실험에 대한 설문으로 색상 구성과 선택 색상, 결과물의 만족도에 관한 정도를 리커트 7점 척도로 알아보았고, 결과물에 따른 배색 특징을 비교하여 분석하였다. 머티리얼 컬러 팔레트는 정해진 색상의 규칙적인 색조 단계를 자동으로 시스템화하여 색상 선택을 쉽게 하였지만, 모바일 웹 앱 3 배색인 주조색, 보조색, 강조색에 대한 색상 구성과 색상 범위가 다르며, 프라이머리 컬러와 세컨더리 컬러만 선택 가능하여 디자인에 따라 강조색의 선택 기능이 필요했다. 또한 머티리얼 시스템은 색상 범위와 배색 범위가 정해져 있기 때문에 유채색의 사용이 많았고, 대비가 큰 색조나 보색을 선택해도 배색 범위에 따라 배색 결과물의 이미지가 달라져서 배색 범위에 따른 색상 구성의 역할이 중요했다.

중국과 서양 영화의 색채 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study of Chinese and Western Film Colors)

  • 영화는 흑백영화부터 컬러영화로 접어들면서 스크린영상이 질적인 변화를 가져왔다. 영화 속의 색채는 물상의 객관적인 모습을 원한재현기능을 가지고 있을 뿐만 아니라 다른 주관적인 감정을 전달하는 기능도 가지고 있다. 색채 외에는 표현할 수 없는 예술적인 효과를 표현할 수 있고 스토리 자체가 전달하지 못하는 컨텐츠도 전달할 수 있다. 그러므로 영화색채는 영화언어의 중요한 구성요소가 되었다. 영화 속에 색채는 단화면색채, 신색채, 영화전체의 색채기조 및 줄거리에 따라 만드는 여러 가지 색채체인으로 스크린에서 나타났다. 영화예술 수법은 몽타주조법을 사용해서 화면 속에 색채도 몽타주형식이 형성되며 이것이 색채몽타주라고 부른다. 대중들이 색채에 주관적인 평가가 색채언어에 대한 받아들인 수준은 각 부분적인 색조사이에 상호작용에 의해 표현할 수 있다. 색채의 독특한 속성은 색채가 구조상태에 들어가야 하는 것을 결정하였다. 그래야 색채의 고유한 매력을 표현할 수 있다. 영화색채가 이런 '색채구조'의 층면에 들어가야 진정한 신미가치를 가질 수 있다. 본문은 동서양감독들의 색채사유와 동서양 영화색채에 담고 있는 문화의 차이 두 가지 측면을 통해 동서양영화 색채에 대해 비교적 연구를 하고자 한다. 서양감독들은 색채의 구조성을 강조하여 색조몽타주방식으로 인물의 감정을 표현하는 것을 중시하며 주관적 색채를 부여하는 특징을 구체적으로 드러낸다. 중국영화의 경우는 제5대 감독으로부터 영화색채언어의 새로운 장이 열리기 시작한다. 감정과 경치가 서로 융화하다가 '의상합일'의 영화 특징을 알렸다.

Ostwald 색채 조화론을 이용한 조화색 추천 (Suggestion of Harmonious Colors Based on Ostwald Color Harmony Theory)

  • 색채계획 의사결정 지원 시스템은 감성에 맞는 색상들을 추천해 주거나 조화론 및 배색사전을 기계화하여 조화색을 추천하는 반자동 보조 시스템을 일컫는다. 본 논문은 조화색 추천 과정에 관한 것이며, 조화색 추천의 보편적 지식개입을 위하여 Ostwald 색채 조화론을 채택하였다. 채택된 조화이론의 적용 공간인 Ostwald의 색체계는 MPEG-7 HMMD 색공간과 일치한다는 가정아래, Ostwald의 동일 색상면과 호환이 가능한 가상의 HMMD 공간을 제작하였다. 두 색공간이 호환하기위한 선행 요구조건을 만족하기 위하여 가정을 세우고 가정에 맞는 가상의 색공간을 제안하였다. 또한 Ostwald의 동일 색상 평면이 갖는 양자화 문제를 극복하기 위하여 연속적인 동일 색상 평면을 구성하여 이용자에게 선택의 폭을 넓히고자 하였다. 제안한 가상의 HMMD 공간에서 Ostwald의 색채 조화론을 규칙기반화한 다양한 조화색을 추천할 수 있다.

모바일 쇼핑 시 스마트폰 화면으로 인지되는 직물의 색상과 색차 비교 - 기기분석 방법을 중심으로 - (Fabric color and color difference recognized by smartphone display during mobile shopping - Focused on instrument analysis method -)

  • Mobile shoppers have encountered frequent color mismatch in the products that they have purchased, as they can only rely on their sense of sight. Therefore, fabric color and color difference recognized by smartphone display during mobile shopping were studied using instrument analysis method. It aimed to gather precise information on actual fabric color understanding of the mobile shoppers purchasing textile products. Three smartphones were selected from LG, Samsung, and Apple companies, and four colors were researched (red, yellow, green and blue) to both polyester and wool test fabrics for color analysis though color measuring instruments. The results from the spectrophotometer indicated that the color coordinate location of smartphone fabric color is similarly distributed regardless of the type of fabric. The Samsung smartphone displays a relatively high color chroma (especially on red-colored fabric) regardless of the type of fabric due to a high color reproduction range. In contrast, the LG smartphone, which has high color temperature, displays high color chroma on the blue colored fabric with a significant color mismatch between the actual fabric color and smartphone fabric color. From the results of this study, issues related to mobile shopping can be addressed through an analysis of the products sold, the smartphone's color representation, and user understanding.
