  • It is very important to select suspension solution for forming electrophoretic deposited YBCO thick mm, because it is heavily affected to its superconducting properties. In this paper, high-temperature superconductor films of $YBa_{2}Cu_{3}O_{7-x}$ were fabricated by electrophoretic deposition (EPD) from alcohol-based suspension such as iso-propanol, iso-butanol, and their mixture. For the formation of YBCO dense and adherent coating on a silver wire by EPD, 1 % PEG(1000) 2 ml, as a additive for making their surface crack-free, was used for electrophoresis. As a results, the cracks were considerably decreased and the superconducting critical current density $(J_e)$ without/with PEG was $1200A/cm^2$ and $2020A/cm^2$, which films deposited in mix iso-propanol and iso-butanol suspension.

  • We have experienced 5 cases of Pectus excavatum corrected by Ravitch method without use of K-wire or metal bar from Jan. 1985 to Apr. 1986. All cases were male. The symmetric depression was in 4 cases, asymmetric one was in one case. The chief complaints were dyspnea on exertion, frequent U.R.I. and inferiority. The flail chest was developed in all cases, but it was insignificant in all cases except one who needed assist ventilation. Mediastinitis was developed in one case one week postoperatively but well managed with drainage. A distance from the posterior surface of sternum to the anterior surface of vertebral body was estimated preoperatively and postoperatively. Postoperative result was evaluated as the change of distance postoperatively. The change was 1.5cm minimally to 3.5cm maximally. Late results were "Excellent" in 3 cases and "Good" in 2 cases.uot; in 2 cases.

  • We have demonstrated the production of thin films containing multilayer graphene-coated copper nanoparticles (MGCNs) by a commercial electrodeposition method. The MGCNs were produced by electrical wire explosion, an easily applied technique for creating hybrid metal nanoparticles. The nanoparticles had average diameters of 10-120 nm and quasi-spherical morphologies. We made a complex-electrodeposited copper thin film (CETF) with a thickness of $4.8{\mu}m$ by adding 300 ppm MGCNs to the electrolyte solution and performing electrodeposition. We measured the electric properties and performed corrosion testing of the CETF. Raman spectroscopy was used to measure the bonding characteristics and estimate the number of layers in the graphene films. The resistivity of the bare-electrodeposited copper thin film (BETF) was $2.092{\times}10^{-6}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$, and the resistivity of the CETF after the addition of 300 ppm MGCNs was decreased by 2% to ${\sim}2.049{\times}10^{-6}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$. The corrosion resistance of the BETF was $9.306{\Omega}$, while that of the CETF was increased to 20.04 Ω. Therefore, the CETF with MGCNs can be used in interconnection circuits for printed circuit boards or semiconductor devices on the basis of its low resistivity and high corrosion resistance.

  • Half-P.C. slab system is the composite structural system which utilizes precast concrete for lower portion and cast in situ concrete for upper portion slab. When the composite slab using Half P.C. slab is deformed by flexural moment, horizontal shear happened at the interface between Half P.C. slab and topping concrete. To resist horizontal shear strength a scratch method has tried. To determine ultimate interface shear strength, shear stress, and shear coefficient, high and normal strength concrete are used for topping concrete. Major variables are compressive strength of topping concrete with or without shear reinforcement, quantitative roughness of the P.C. :surface and tie or untie of the stud with welded deformed wire fabric in the P.C. member. The Icross sectional area on joints is 3,200 $cm^2$ in all specimens. Test results showed that shear stress increased, as the depth of the quantitative roughness increased. The horizontal shear strength could be resisted with safe by the quantitative roughness without shear tie. A shear coefficient determinant equation is proposed such that K = 0.025918 + 0.0068894$\cdot$R – 0.000182354${\cdot}R^2$

  • Formation of the weld defect, such as a blowhole and a pit in lap-jointed fillet arc welds has been a serious problem in arc welding of Zn-coated steel sheet. In this study, the relationship among welding conditions, welding materials and defect formation was investigated in order to minimize these defects in the CO₂ welds. In addition, the arc stability of the commercial welding wires was evaluated for revealing their effects on defect formation. Main conclusions obtained are as follows:1) There was no difference between shear tensile strength of the sound welds and that of the welds with blowholes whose diameters are less than 0.5mm. However, the welds with blowholes whose diameters are equal or larger than 0.5mm and pits exhibited tensile strength 10~20% and 30~40% lower than that of the sound welds respectively.2) The optimum welding condition to effectively prevent or reduce the weld defects formation are as follows:- The welding variables of 220A-23V-100cm/min and 120A-190V-30cm/min were recommended for minimizing the weld defects.- The gap between the two sheets at the lap-joint should be controlled to more than 0.2mm- Solid wire was less susceptible to the formation of the weld defects than the flux-cored wire.- The low welding current condition produced less weld defects than the hihg welding current condition.3) One of the reason why the amount of the defect was reduced at the low welding current was the gas discharging by the active agitation of the molten pool, due to an increasing in the number of the short circuit. • Platinum-Cobalt alloy thin films were deposited on A1$_2$O$_3$substrate by magnetron cosputtering for RTD temperature sensors with wide temperature ranges. We made Pt-Co alloy resistance patterns on the A1$_2$O$_3$substrate by lift-off method and fabricated Pt-Co alley RTD temperature sensors by using Pt-wire, Pt-paste. We investigated the physical and electrical characteristics of theme films under various conditions, input power, working vacuum, annealing temperature and time, and also after annealing these films. The resistivity and sheet resistivity of these films were decreased with increasing the annealing temperature. At input power of Pt : 4.4 W/cm$^2$, Co : 6.91 W/cm$^2$, working vacuum of 10 mTorr and annealing conditions of 800$^{\circ}C$ and 60 min, the resistivity and sheet resistivity of Pt-Co thin films was 15${\mu}$$\Omega$$.$cm and 0.5$\Omega$/ , respectively, and the TCR value of Pt-Co alloy thin films with thickness of 3000${\AA}$ was 3740ppm/$^{\circ}C$ in the temperature range of 25∼600$^{\circ}C$. These results indicate that Pt-Co alloy thin films hove potentiality for the RTD with wide temperature ranges.

  • Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) has been extensively applied for various laboratory and field studies. Numerous different TDR probes are currently available for measuring soil moisture content and detecting interfaces (i.e., due to landslides or structural failure). This paper describes the development of an innovative spiral-shaped TDR probe that features much higher sensitivity and resolution in detecting interfaces than existing ones. Finite element method (FEM) simulations were conducted to assist the optimization of sensor design. The influence of factors such as wire interval spacing and wire diameter on the sensitivity of the spiral TDR probe were analyzed. A spiral TDR probe was fabricated based on the results of computer-assisted design. A laboratory experimental program was implemented to evaluate its performance. The results show that the spiral TDR sensor featured excellent performance in accurately detecting thin water level variations with high resolution, to the thickness as small as 0.06 cm. Compared with conventional straight TDR probe, the spiral TDR probe has 8 times the resolution in detecting the water level changes. It also achieved 3 times the sensitivity of straight TDR probe.

  • Nanostructured copper compounds were grown by electrochemical anodization of copper foil in aqueous NaOH under varying conditions including electrolyte concentration, reaction temperature, current density, and reaction time. Their morphology and atomic composition were investigated by using SEM, TEM, XRD, EDS and XPS. At the conditions ([NaOH] = 1 M, $20^{\circ}C$, $2\;mA\;cm^{-2}$), wire-like orthorhombic $Cu(OH)_2$ nanobundles with an average width of 100 - 300 nm and length of $10\;{\mu}m$ were synthesized with the preferential [100] growth direction. Furthermore, when the concentration decreased to 0.5 M NaOH, the 1D nanobundle structure became narrower and longer without any change in compositions or crystalline structure. Side reaction pathways appeared to compete with the 1D nanostructure formation channels: the formation of CuO nanoleaves at $50^{\circ}C$ via the sequential dehydration of $Cu(OH)_2$, CuO/$Cu_2O$ aggregates in 4 M NaOH, and $Cu_2O$ nanoparticles and CuO nanosheets at lower current density.
