  • Objectives : The aim of this study was to identify the effect of employment type on health-related quality of life. Methods : This study used data from the Sixth Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Data were analyzed with the ${\chi}^2$ test, t-test, ANOVA and multiple regression. Results : There were significant statistical differences the health-related quality of life according to employment type. The health-related quality of life of temporary workers was lower than that of regular workers. The significant predictors of the health-related quality of life of regular workers were the subjective health status, stress, age, and education. The significant predictors of the health-related quality of life of temporary workers were the subjective health status, education, stress, sleeping time, and gender. Conclusions : These results suggest that employment type affects the health-related quality of life. The research on social policy is recommended to resolve health inequalities.

A secondary data analysis was conducted using the data of "The Fifth Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 2011". The survey included 3,487 people aged over 65 years and 1,163 samples were used for this study. Data were analyzed with the ${\chi}^2$-test and logistic regression using the SPSS/WIN 18.0 program. Analysis showed that sleep time was related with the number of chronic disease and limit on the activities of daily living(ADL). These findings suggest that nursing researchers need to consider chronic disease, and ADL as important factors affecting sleep time of Korean elders. Therefore nursing intervention focusing on the issues in needed to develope.

  • Applying Varying Pseudonym (VP) to design of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) authentication protocol outperforms the other existing approaches in several respects. However, this approach is prone to the well-known denial-ofservice (DOS) attack. In this paper, we examine the de-synchronization problems of VP-based RFID authentication protocols, and propose effective solutions to eliminate such weaknesses. We shall show that the proposed solutions indeed improve the security for these protocols, and moreover, these solutions require 0(1) computational cost for identitying a tag and 0(1) key space on the tag. These excellent performances make them very attractive to many RFID applications.

  • Since ancient times, records pertaining to chi-reinforecenent of ginseng have been documented in books of Chinese nedicine. We, therefore, assessed the therapeutic effects of ginseng on patients with chi-deficiency syndrome. Eigheen cases of chi-deficiency, screened at the outpatient service in the internal department of Chinse medicine at the China Medical College Hospital. were prescribed two grams of Korean red ginseng powder three times daily for a two week period. For evaluation, a questionnaire and diagnosis by sphygmography were conducted prior to and after administration of the prescription. For control purposes, fourteen volunteers fasted for more than five days (seven had access only to ginseng. and the other seven were given only mineral water) and were subsequently evaluated by the same criteria. Three results were obtained for the ginseng treated group: (1) improvements in symptoms of chi-deficiency such as fatigue and dizziness; (2) changes in pulse waves with time domains showing alternate P-waves, strengthened dicrotic waves, and some minute waves in the end-diastolic period; (3) frequency domains with enhanced amplitudes around 12Hz. These three findings, which are consistent with each other, suggest the reinforcement of the effect of ginseng on 'heart-spleen chi' in Chinese medicine.

Methods: The study was carried out by direct telephone survey to dental gygienists in Gangneung, Wonju, and Seongnam from March 15 to April 10, 2015. The subjects were seventy dental clinics by random sampling. The questionnaire consisted of general characteristics of the subjects(4 items), infection control education(3 items), and infection control activity(9 items). Cronbach's alpha was 0.781 in the study. After informed consent from the dental hygienists, the survey was done by telephone. Data were analyzed by SPSS 21.0 program. Results: The dental hygienists taking infection control education tended to wash the uniforms twice a week (${\chi}^2$=15.95, p<001). The majority of the dental hygienists thought that the best washing place of uniform would be dental clinics than any other place (${\chi}^2$=38.76, p<001). Conclusions: It is very important to implement the infection control education for the dental hygienists. The establishment of standard guideline for infection control of the uniform washing will enhance the dental service quality and satisfaction of the dental service consumers.
