Korean Alphabets Recognition Using the Modified CGH Multiplexed Matched Filter (변조된 CGH 다중 정합 필터를 사용한 한글 자모 인식)

  • In optical pattern recognition, incorrect discrimination may result from a relatively high cross correlation peak between similary shaped objects. In this paper, a new modified matched CGH(computer generated hologram) filter is proposed for reducing the cross-correlation without reducing the autocorrelation. Computer simulation and experimental results show that this new method can be used efficiently for optical Korean alphabets recognition. The signal to noise characteristics are analyzed on the correlation distdribution diagram.

  • In this Paper, we design an optimal binary phase computer generated hologram for Pattern generation using combined genetic algorithm and simulated annealing algorithm together. To design an optimal binary phase computer generated hologram, in searching process of the proposed method, the simple genetic algorithm is used to get an initial random transmittance function of simulated annealing algorithm. Computer simulation shows that the proposed algorithm has better performance than the genetic algorithm or simulated annealing algorithm of terms of diffraction efficiency

  • We propose an efficient coding method of digital holograms using MCTF and standard compression tools for video. The hologram is generated by a computer-generated hologram (CGH) algorithm with both an object image and its depth information. The proposed coding consists of localization by segmenting a hologram, frequency transform using $64\times64$ segment size, 2-D discrete cosine transform DCT for extracting redundancy, motion compensated temporal filtering (MCTF), segment scanning the segmented hologram to form a video sequence, and video coding, which uses H.264/AVC. The proposed algorithm illustrates that it has better properties for reconstruction, 10% higher compression rate than previous research in case of object.

  • Computer generated holography (CGH) is technology for generating holograms of synthetic, three dimensional (3D) objects which may not exist in the physical world. The process, however, requires heavy amount of computation as the resolution of a hologram is significantly higher than that of a typical optical image. This paper reviews four modern techniques for fast generation of digital Fresnel holograms which are important in the development of holographic video systems. The methods that will be described include the virtual window, sub-line, wavefront recording plane (WRP), and the interpolative WRP schemes. These works share the common objective to generate digital Fresnel hologram at a speed that is close to the video frame rate, and with complexity which is realizable with affordable computing and reconfigurable hardware devices. The author will present the principles and realization of these works, as well as some potential area of research in digital holography.

  • 본 논문에서는 홀로그램을 실시간으로 생성하기 위하여 수정된 디지털 홀로그램(computer-generated hologram, CGH) 수식을 재정의 하여 3단계로 나누고 2차원 블록 단위 기반의 컴퓨터 생성 홀로그램 생성기의 하드웨어 구조를 제안하였다. 유효광원의 대한 z축 항에 대하여 연산하는 공통항 연산기와 x,y축을 연산하는 죄표값 연산기 마지막으로 각 화소의 대하여 연산하는 화소값 연산기로 이루어진 하드웨어를 제안하고 구현 하였다. 구현한 하드웨어는 $32{\times}32$ 중간 블록의 구조를 가질 때 기존 연구에 비하여 86%이상의 DSP블록을 줄일 수 있다.

  • In this paper, we proposed the new method of extracting the position and the length of the input-line by using only two parameters ($\theta$, $\rho$) from the HT(Hough Transform) data. The computer simulations and the optical experiments by using the HT CGH(Computer Generated Hologram) filter is perfermed. The results are very similar to those of the computer simulation results.

  • KIST에서는 Pulsed Laser를 사용하여 3차원 image를 재생할 수 있는 Electro-Holographic System을 만들어 CGH이미지를 구현하였다. CGH 이미지를 구현하기 위한 SLM (Spatial Light Modulator)으로 TeO$_2$ 결정의 Shear Mode 에서 동작하는 Bragg type의 다채널 AOSLM(Acousto-optic Spatial Light Modulator)이 사용되었다. 이 Bragg type 다채널 AOSLM에서는 광원이 특정 Bragg 각도로 입사하였을 때 다른 고위 차수는 억압되고 +나 -의 첫번째 차수의 회절 빔만이 형성된다.   • 컴퓨터 생성 홀로그램(CGH: computer generated hologram) 기법은 기존의 광학계 장치와 변수들을 수학적으로 모델링하여 일반 범용 컴퓨터(PC: personal computer)로도 디지털 홀로그램을 생성할 수 있는 기술이다. 이 기술은 디지털 홀로그램의 해상도와 3D 물체의 광원 수에 따라 알고리즘의 연산량이 좌우되기 때문에, 실용적인 사용을 위해서 알고리즘의 연산량을 낮추거나 하드웨어의 연산 속도를 높이는 연구가 필수적이다. 본 논문에서는 초다광원 3D 물체의 디지털 홀로그램을 고속으로 생성할 수 있는 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 방법은 한 개의 서버 PC와 다수의 클라이언트 PC들로 구성되어 있으며, 이들은 일반적으로 사용되는 범용 GPU (graphic processing unit)가 장착되어 있다. 서버에서 3D 물체의 광원을 스캔하여 데이터화 하고, 클라이언트 PC들의 연산 능력에 따라 광원 데이터를 분할하여 클라이언트들에게 각각 전송한다. 각각의 클라이언트들은 전송받은 데이터를 이용해 다중 GPU 기반의 CGH 연산을 수행하여 간섭 패턴들을 생성하고, 생성된 패턴들은 다시 서버 PC로 재전송된다. 서버 PC로 재전송 된 패턴들이 하나로 누적되면 디지털 홀로그램이 생성된다. 본 실험에서, 기존의 방법으로는 139,655개의 광원에 대해 $1,024{\times}1,024$ 해상도의 홀로그램을 생성하는데 약 2,250 ms가 걸린 반면, 제안하는 방법은 약 478 ms의 속도로 생성할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

  • As 5G is getting developed, people are getting interested in immersive content. Some predicts that immersive content may be implemented in real life such as holograms, which were only possible in movies. Holograms, which has been studied for a long time since Dennis Gabor published the basic theory in 1948, are constantly developing in a new direction with digital technology. It is developing from a traditional optical hologram, which is produced by recording the interference pattern of light to a computer generated hologram (CGH) and a digital hologram printer. In order to produce a hologram using a digital hologram printer, holographic element (Hogel) image must first be created using multi-view images. There are a method of directly photographing an actual image and a method of modeling an object using 3D graphic production tool and rendering the motion of a virtual camera to acquire a series of multi-view images. In this paper, we propose a new method of getting image, which is one of the visual effect, VFX, producing multi-view images using chroma key composition. We shoot on the green screen of actual object, suggest the overall workflow of composition with 3D computer graphic(CG) and explain the role of each step. We expected that it will be helpful in researching a new method of image acquisition in the future if all or part of the proposed workflow to be applied.

Fully Phase-based Optical Encryption System Using Computer Holography and Fresnel Diffraction (컴퓨터 홀로그래피와 프레넬 회절을 이용한 위상 영상 광 암호화 시스템)

  • In this paper, we propose a high-level optical encryption system, which is tolerant with noises and cropping, by encrypting the phase-encoded CGH pattern of original image with the phase-encoded Fresnel diffraction pattern of random key images. For encryption, the phase-encoded CGH pattern of original image is multiplied by conjugate components which are the phase-encoded Fresnel diffraction patterns of random key images. The original information can be reconstructed by multiplying encrypted image by phase-encoded Fresnel diffraction pattern of random key images and performing Fourier transform of the multiplication result. The proposed system is robust to noises and cropping due to characteristics of CGH pattern and can guarantee high-level encryption by using Fresnel diffraction information. We verified the validity of proposed system by computer simulations, numerical analysis of noises and cropping effect and optical experiment.
