  • Humans use images on a daily basis-so much so that images are integral to their lives. Seeing is represented by an image, created or lived in it. Images required and developed a new paradigm from past to present. Today, images are in digital formats, and new techniques are increasing. Among them, cinemagraphs can find features that differ from previous images. The keywords found by comparing them in the image development are analyzed in detail through four characteristics in this paper. Cinemagraphs appearing in the keywords are interpreted in terms of each keyword and, through the example, the cinemagraph image can be approached concretely.

  • In order to investigate how firms appoint and manage successful CIOs, this study reviews previous literatures and finds major factors affecting the performance of CIOs, Eight factors are found and classified into two groups based on time horizon characteristics: ex ante factors before appointment and ex post factors after appointment. These eight factors are also re-classified into three groups based on the degree of interaction between CIOs and CEOs: CIO factors, CEO factors, and interaction factors between CIOs and CEOs. In order to investigate how these sub-groups affect the performance of CIOs, we have conducted case studies on 6 firms that are considered to have successful CIOs. The results indicate that ex ante factors, for instance, a factor whether the CIO is appointed from inside or outside of the firm, need to be carefully considered for the successful ex post management of CIO positions. This study derives several managerial guidelines and finally proposes a future research model for empirical studies.

  • NASA, NSF and USGS jointly conducted LIDAR surveys to acquire numerous surface points with high densities over the Antarctic Dry Valleys and its vicinity. The huge set of the points unusually includes many blunders, retaining large variation of the point densities. Hence, to reduce the undesirable effects due to these characteristics and process the huge number of points with reasonable time and resources, we developed an efficient, robust, nearly automatic approach to DEM generation. This paper reports about the application of this approach to generating high-resolution precise DEMs from the Antarctic LIDAR surveys and the evaluation of their accuracy.

  • This study aims to identify the determinants on the implementation level of e-Trade of Chinese exporters in Shandong Province, China. From the review of previous studies, a research model and six hypotheses were set up and tested by the multiple regression analysis with total 127 effective survey data. Among the company characteristics, the company size was statistically significant to the utilization range and the utilization level. But unlike former studies in Korea, the utilization range showed the (-) mark. On the other hand, the innovative attitude of CEO didn't show statistical significance to both the utilization range and the utilization level. Among the information characteristics, the IT infrastructure was not statistically significant to both the utilization range and the utilization level. On the other hand, the education and training of technical personnel didn't have a significant effect on the utilization range, but it had a statistically significant effect on the utilization level. Among the external environment, the intensity of competition had a statistically significant effect on both the utilization range and the utilization level. In summary, the implementation level of e-Trade of Chinese exporters in Shandong Province, China is still behind that of Korea. But the fact that the small and medium-sized Chinese exporters are using Internet more actively than large companies suggests some implications for those of Korea.

According to the result of the statistical analyses on the 85 effective questionnaires from the sample firms, support of the government related institutions(one of the external factors) and CEO's support(one of the internal factors) had significant relationship with e-Trade usage level, but no significant relationship was found between the relationship characteristics and e-Trade usage level. Like the results of the most of the existing literature, e-Trade usage level were formed to significantly affected the e-Trade performance. Finally, based on results of the empirical survey, several implications on the Chinese SME's e-Trade strategies and policy alternatives were proposed as a concluding remark.
