  • To find out the optimum seeding rate in corrugated water seeded rice, field experiment was carried out at Yeongdeog Substation of the National Yeongnam Agricultural Experiment Station for two years, 1994 and 1995. A rice cultivar Donghaebyeo, was seeded on May 15 with five seeding rate from 3kg /10a to 7kg /10a. The number of seedling stand per unit area was curvilinearly increased with seeding rate. In characteristics of rice plant associated with lodging, the plant height, fresh weight per tiller, Culm wall thickness and ratio of gravity center were not significantly different among seeding rates, but the breaking strength of 4th internode was slightly decreased with increasing seeding rate and thus, lodging index was generally greater at higher seeding rate than lower seeding rate. Field lodging was observed at 1~3 degree in seeding rate of 5~7kg /10a. Panicle number per unit area was generally increase with increase of seeding rate, while ratio of ripened grain was decreased with increase of spikelet number. Milled rice yield was curvilinearly increased with seeding rate. The optimum seeding rate in the highest rice yield was 4.8kg /10a in 1994, and 4.3kg /a in 1995, respectively.

  • By using the Optical Wide-field Patrol (OWL) network developed by the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) we generated the right ascension and declination angle data from optical observation of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites. We performed an analysis to verify the optimum number of observations needed per arc for successful estimation of orbit. The currently functioning OWL observatories are located in Daejeon (South Korea), Songino (Mongolia), and Oukaïmeden (Morocco). The Daejeon Observatory is functioning as a test bed. In this study, the observed targets were Gravity Probe B, COSMOS 1455, COSMOS 1726, COSMOS 2428, SEASAT 1, ATV-5, and CryoSat-2 (all in LEO). These satellites were observed from the test bed and the Songino Observatory of the OWL network during 21 nights in 2014 and 2015. After we estimated the orbit from systematically selected sets of observation points (20, 50, 100, and 150) for each pass, we compared the difference between the orbit estimates for each case, and the Two Line Element set (TLE) from the Joint Space Operation Center (JSpOC). Then, we determined the average of the difference and selected the optimal observation points by comparing the average values.

  • In structural design provision, maximum punching shear stress of slabs is prescribed as combined stress in direct shear occurred by gravity load and eccentric shear occurred by unbalanced moment. This means that the effect of unbalanced moment is considered to decide the punching shear stress. However, from the resistance capacity standpoint, the effect of unbalanced moment strength is not considered for deciding punching shear strength. In this paper, a model considering interrelation between unbalanced moment and punching shear was proposed. In the model, the relation between load effect and resistance capacity in unbalanced moment and punching shear was two-dimensionally expressed. Using the interrelation model, a method how unbalanced moment strength should be considered to decide the punching shear strength was proposed. Additionally, effective width enlargement factors for deciding the unbalanced moment strength of flat plates with shear reinforcements were proposed. The interrelation model proposed in this paper is very effective for the prediction of the behavior of slab-column connection because not only punching shear and unbalanced moment strengths but also failure modes of flat plates can be accurately predicted.

  • Squat exercise is one of the important free weight exercises that can safely and effectively expect the athletic performance by establishing the rationale. Therefore, it is necessary to study the side effects caused by incorrect exercise, scientific countermeasures and to develop a exercise estimation model. It is effective and accurate to use a variety of assistive devices to calibrate athletic posture. The issues of the structural analysis for designing a foot plate for squat exercise is to model the behavior by the dynamic behavior. It should be consider that the center of gravity of each segmented body is different when the maximum load is applied. It is applied to complete system design through simulation method with kinematic dynamic, ground reaction force and load analysis for the free weight exercise equipment, VR device, and safety foot plate. In this paper, the authors propose the design method for the vertical load distribution applied in the design of the foot plate used for the squat exercise mechanism, and based on these results, design make the more safe and reliable free weight exercise equipment system.

  • Despite of many researches related to create 3D digital maps, it is still time-consuming and costly because a large part of 3D digital mapping is conducted manually. To circumvent this limitation, we proposed methodologies to create 3D digital maps with 3D symbols automatically. For this purpose, firstly, the 3D symbol library to represent 3D objects as 3D symbols was constructed. In this library, we stored the attribute and geometry information of 3D objects which define types and shapes of symbols respectively. These information were used to match 3D objects with 3D symbols and extracted from 2D digital maps and LiDAR(Light Detection and Ranging) data. Then, to locate 3D symbols into a base map automatically, we used predefined parameters such as the size, the height, the rotation angle and the center of gravity of 3D objects which are extracted from LiDAR data. Finally, the 3D digital map in urban area was constructed and the results were tested. Through this research, we can identify that the developed algorithms can be used as effective techniques for 3D digital mapping.

  • Sea surface wind is one of the most fundamental variables for understanding diverse marine phenomena. Although scatterometers have produced global wind field data since the early 1990's, the data has been used limitedly in oceanic applications due to it slow spatial resolution, especially at coastal regions. Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is capable to produce high resolution wind field data. KOMPSAT-5 is the first Korean satellite equipped with X-band SAR instrument and is able to retrieve the sea surface wind. This study presents the validation results of sea surface wind derived from the KOMPSAT-5 backscattering coefficient data for the first time. We collected 18 KOMPSAT-5 ES mode data to produce a matchup database collocated with buoy stations. In order to calculate the accurate wind speed, we preprocessed the SAR data, including land masking, speckle noise reduction, and ship detection, and converted the in-situ wind to 10-m neutral wind as reference wind data using Liu-Katsaros-Businger (LKB) model. The sea surface winds based on XMOD2 show root-mean-square errors of about $2.41-2.74m\;s^{-1}$ depending on backscattering coefficient conversion equations. In-depth analyses on the wind speed errors derived from KOMPSAT-5 backscattering coefficient data reveal the existence of diverse potential error factors such as image quality related to range ambiguity, discrete and discontinuous distribution of incidence angle, change in marine atmospheric environment, impacts on atmospheric gravity waves, ocean wave spectrum, and internal wave.

  • Double cropping is important for increase of farm income and rate of arable land utilization. This study was carried out to obtain information for optimum plant density of the second crop in a double cropping system. A waxy corn hybrid, Chalok #2, was sown on July 10 at the first corn cropping site. Growth characteristics and yield response of fresh waxy corn were examined under different planting densities, which were 55.5, 66.6, 83.3, and 111.1 thousands plants ${ha}^{-1}$. Plant height was higher under high planting density than low planting density and 154cm at the 55.5 thousand plants ${ha}^{-1}$, and 168cm at the 111.1 thousand plant ${ha}^{-1}$. It showed same trends in ear height and gravity center height. But planting density did not affect root lodging and silking date. At the silking stage, stalk and leaf dry matter weight and leaf area index (LAI) were increased significantly with increasing planting density, Filled ear lengtg was shortened significantly under the hi임est planting density (111.1 thousand plants ${ha}^{-1}$), while ear length and ear diameter were no differences among planting densities. The number of marketable ears increased with increasing planting density, but husked fresh ear weight was the highest at 83.3 thousand plants ${ha}^{-1}$ with 11.2MT ${ha}^{-1}$and optimum planting density was estimated as about 80 thousand plants ${ha}^{-1}$.

  • We developed a new method that the radiation field shape and intensity could be controlled automatically with a insertion of the liquid shielding material box having a rotatable model imitated the 3-dimensional target volume within. The molded box filled with the mercury was mounted to the tray. A acrylic model imitated the 3-dimensional target volume was fixed into the center of the interior of the box. Although the gentry rotate, the acrylic model can be returned to the original direction of the target due to the action of the gravity. The film measurements at the gantry rotation angle 0$^{\circ}$, 45$^{\circ}$, and 90$^{\circ}$, respectively were shown that the radiation intensities were modulated properly and the field shapes were conformed to the target. We verified the dose distribution for our method with a cylindrical acrylic phantom inserted a film within. In the case of the 8-field irradiation, the 80% isodose line was enclosed the target shape properly. This results show the realization of a new intensity-modulated radiation therapy(IMRT).

  • Digital image watermarking is the method that can protect the copyright of the image by embedding copyright information, which is called watermark. Watermarking must have robustness to intentional or unintentional data changing, called attack. The conventional watermarking schemes are robust to waveform attacks such as image compression, filtering etc. However, they are vulnerable to geometrical attacks such as rotation, scaling, translation, and cropping. Accordingly, this paper proposes new watermarking scheme that is robust to geometrical attacks by using invariant centroid. Invariant centroid is the gravity center of a central area in a gray scale image that remains unchanged even when the image is attacked by RST including cropping and proposed scheme uses invariant centroids of original and inverted image as the template. To make geometrically invariant domain, template and angle compensated Log -Polar Map(LPM) is used. Then Discrete Cosine Transform(DCT) is performed and the watermark is embedded into the DCT coefficients. Futhermore, to prevent a watermarked image from degrading due to interpolation during coordinate system conversion, only the image of the watermark signal is extracted and added to the original image. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme is especially robust to RST attacks including cropping.
