CDLIB system, a CD-ROM network system constructed in the KTRC, made all the users connected with KTRC TRAN share the many CD-ROM drives and the massive information on the CD-ROM discs. The system is composed of CD-ROM network server, file server and the software which allows the users to retrieve CD-ROM discs through the network. This system has the following strong points : cost-effectiveness in the aspect of sharing the CD-ROM resources in the LAN environment and high system performance.

This study aims to provide a guide to the selection and purchase of a good CD-ROM encyclopedia by establishing evaluation criteria for CD-ROM encyclopedia. This study first divided evaluation criteria into the following rune categories: reviews available, print version, availability of trial disc, hardware requirements and ease of software installation, database contents, retrieval software, standalone/network version, standard/deluxe version, costs. Next, it suggested evaluation points and items in detail under each category.

This study aims to identify factors to be considered in designing and operating CD-ROM network systems efficiently and provide designers and operators with basic guidelines. In this study, the current status and problems of CD-ROM network systems at 72 domestic university libraries are examined, and user behavior and satisfaction of 64 actual users in 3 universities are analyzed. In addition, to examine the influenced correlation among the factors such as user satisfaction, system operating policy, system resources and system performance, $\chi^2(Chi-Square)$ test, F test and regression analysis are carried out and the factors influencing user satisfaction are examined.

CD-ROM technique, not more than 10 years after development, goes through rapid growth, has been taken advantage of several practical application parts. Needless to say about bibliographic data, numeric value, the phonetics, an image and a picture data that are recorded as abstract or full text, and offered and applied to industry, information service including library, it can be used for library staffs, information retrieval. Escape from the need of one disc drive and one computer to access one disc, now we organize an ideal system that can be retrieved several CD-ROM used only one drive, several users can access several information, so networking is possible through LAN. In this article, we studied the function and type, characteristics, system, structure, data block, production procedure, standardization of CD-ROM LAN.

원자력발전소 설계업무 수행중 생산되는 전산데이타를 반영구적으로 보관하기 위하여 Autocom 장비를 이용한 마이크로피쉬(microfiche)를 생산해 왔으나 이 장비의 노후로 인한 잦은 고장 및 데이타의 재사용 불가로 인해 기기의 교체가 요구 되었다. 또한 영광 3호기 이후, 교체노심설계 및 핵연료 설계등의 원전 설계업무에 UNIX Workstation(W/S)이 사용되면서 UNIX 시스템의 네트웍을 이용한 온라인 데이타 저장의 필요성이 대두됨에 따라, 이에 대한 하드웨어 분석과 테스트 과정을 거쳐 분산 운영되는 UNIX 시스템에 적합한 CD-ROM 저장시스템을 구성하였다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 CD-ROM 저장 시스템의 기술적인 내용을 분석하고 향후 보완 및 개발되어야 할 내용을 제시하였다.

We implemented a CD signal processor operated on a CAV 48-speed CD-ROM drive into a VLSI. The CD signal processor is a mixed mode monolithic IC including servo-processor, data recovery, data-processor, and I-bit DAC. For servo signal processing, we included a DSP core, while, for CAV mode playback, we adopted a PLL with a wide recovery range. Data processor (DP) was designed to meet the yellow book specification.［2］So, the DP block consists of EFM demodulator, C1/C2 ECC block, audio processor and a block transferring data to an ATAPI chip. A modified Euclid's algorithm was used as a key equation solver for the ECC block To achieve the high-speed decoding, the RS decoder is operated by a pipelined method. Audio playability is increased by playing a CD-DA disc at the speed of 12X or 16X. For this, subcode sync and data are processed in the same way as main data processing. The overall performance of IC is verified by measuring a transfer rate from the innermost area of disc to the outermost area. At 48-speed, the operating frequency is 210 ㎒, and this chip is fabricated by 0.35 um STD90 cell library of Samsung Electronics.

Information management area faced new challenge arised from the developments of the computer and the information network, and the advent of information super highway. With deep perception of importance of the information, developments of information technologies, and change of the users' environment, we came to envision the digital library. This paper intends to describe the concept and function of the digital library, and to examine some of information technologies such as CD-ROM, OCR technology and image scanning, hypertext, hypermedia and multimedia. And it also considers the strategies for electronic information services and the applicability of the current information technology for digitalization by case studies of the existing database systems.

As advanced information technology has been developing rapidly, libraries are moving from an ownership-centered information service toward information access service. Consequently, integrated automation systems of information centers that give not only cataloging information of their own collections but also various electronic information have appeared. In this study, a model of integrated automation system of an information center is suggested in terms of information types and cost, by taking case studies of some domestic and foreign libraries. Furthermore, the MIPOS Information & Resource Center System of POSCO Group is introduced as a good example of integrated automation systems in Korea.

Recently, CAN network technology and MOST network are introduced in vehicle to control many electronic devices and to provide entertainment service. Many interconnected devices operate in MOST network which has ring topology such as CD-ROM(DVD), AMP, VIDEO CAMERA, VIDEO DISPLAY, GPS NAVIGATION and so on. In this paper, The input image of CAMERA in the MOST network is used for determining the movement direction of vehicle. Even though the position information was received from GPS, it is difficult to directly determine the direction of moving vehicle in certain areas such as the parallel road structure. This paper designs and implements the method to determine vehicle's direction by real-time matching between CAMERA image and object image base on image DB.

As information technology has developed, the function of a library has been expanding gradually. The traditional library has changed into the electronic library so that users can directly access the library from remote sites and get electronic information without visiting the library. The purpose of this study is to build a model on the basis of the elements that are identified from the existing electronic libraries, and then to survey the current state of electronization in Korean university libraries. The electronic library model consists of four elements : OPAC, commercial online databases, CD-ROM databases, electronic books and journals, access to OPACs of other libraries, and access to other information resources through Internet.
