A Study on the Integration of Information Center's Automation Systems

정보센터 자동화시스템의 통합화에 관한 연구

As advanced information technology has been developing rapidly, libraries are moving from an ownership-centered information service toward information access service. Consequently, integrated automation systems of information centers that give not only cataloging information of their own collections but also various electronic information have appeared. In this study, a model of integrated automation system of an information center is suggested in terms of information types and cost, by taking case studies of some domestic and foreign libraries. Furthermore, the MIPOS Information & Resource Center System of POSCO Group is introduced as a good example of integrated automation systems in Korea.

이용자 서비스 강화와 효율적인 정보관리를 위해 각 정보센터들이 구축하고 있는 정보센터 자동화시스템의 개발이 최근 멀티미디어와 네트워크 기술의 발달과 더불어 통합화 경향을 보이고 있다. 즉 과거 소장정보만을 제공하던 것에서 CD-ROM 등 소장 외부 데이터베이스외에도 인터넷과 PC통신망과 같은 외부 온라인 데이터베이스도 하나의 시스템에 통합하는 것이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 국내외 사례연구를 통해 통합화 경향을 확인하고 통합할 정보와 비용의 측면에서 그 통합방안을 제시하였다. 또한 포스코의 그룹차원 정보관리시스템인 MIPOS 정보자료시스템을 국내의 대표적인 통합화 사례로서 제시하였다.
