The goals of this research are for producing and optimizing the CD-ROM, effective and practical Teaching-Learning method. It consists of Wearing Korean Traditional Costume for the First Grade of Middle School Students in Home Economics Teaching. This research’s summarization is following. First, the multi-media material. CD-ROM making use of Powerpoint. Wearing Korean Traditional Costume, is produced to help the students learn the difficult contents in terms of video and audio. Second, it is introduced the model of Open Education for increasing the efficiency of class. Third, it is developed to proceed the class with the CD-ROM and small group study of place activity. Fourth, it helps students concentrate on the class with proper sound effect whenever the slide films are changed. And it helps to link the web sites related to Korean Traditional Costume. Finally, another kinds of suggestions are following. The effective verification of this software that is tested and applied at the field for a given period will be necessary. And, it is necessary to upgrade for the CD-ROM and the supplementary teaching materials in Korean Traditional Costume education.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a CD-ROM title for the prevention of sexual harassment and violence in middle school students. Method: The process for developing the CD-ROM title consisted of 10 steps proposed by Alessi and Trollip. Results: This CD-ROM title was composed of 4 domains, 11 subjects, and 31 detailed subjects. The 4 domains were: 1) understanding of sexual harassment and violence, 2) cases of sexual harassment and violence, 3) prevention and coping strategies, and 4) sexual knowledge. The subjects included texts, and the detailed subjects included graphics, animations, videos, and pictures. Conclusion: This CD-ROM may reduce the occurrence of sexual harassment and violence and accommodate enriched humanity in middle school students.

The purpose of this study is to suggest the schemes to enhance information service functions by the utilization of CD-ROM in medical school libraries. The results of the study are summarized as follows : 1. The selection and evaluation of CD-ROM database are necessary steps in the planning of a CD-ROM. Before the CD-ROM is selected, therefore, medical libraries must make a practical evaluation criteria in important order of information services environment, characteristics of hardware/software, service requirements, price and cost, etc. 2. If possible, CD-ROM MEDLINE must be suited for the information services environment. 3. In case of the popular core journals, full-text CD-ROM should be gradually purchased. 4. In order to reduce the time required from search of bibliographic informations to receipt of original articles, CD-NET system and library holding administration program must be built up and developed. And channel of information search and order/receipt of original article should be varied. 5. Search education program for medical librarians and users should be enforced, and librarians must play an important role in CD-ROM retrieval consultant and intermediator.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of CD-ROM education on anxiety and self-care compliance in patients undergoing spinal surgery. Method: This study used a nonequivalent control time difference design. A sample of 51 participants received both CD-ROM education (n=25) or booklet education (n=26) regarding spinal surgery procedure and postoperative self-care. The data were collected using a self-administered questionnaire containing State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI Form Y-2), Visual analog scale, and self-care compliance. Result: The level of trait anxiety in the experimental group was not significantly different from that in the control group (t=-6.44, p=.523). The level of state anxiety in the experimental group was significantly lower than in that the control group according to time changes (F=4.17, p=.018). State anxiety showed significantly negative correlation to self-care compliance (r=-.30, p=.034). Conclusion: The education program using CD-ROM for spinal surgery patients can be applied to nursing practice for relieving state anxiety and promoting self-care compliance.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of nursing education using a CD ROM on the anxiety and knowledge of the patients having minor surgery. Method: Forty patients hospitalized in K hospital in Seoul from April to August 2002 participated in this study. In the experimental group, twenty patients received nursing education on the operational procedures and post-operational care. The control group, received conventional nursing care only. Anxiety experienced by patients was measured by Spielberger's State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, and knowledge was measured by an instrument developed by Rahe et al. The data were analyzed by SPSS statistical program. Result: There were no significant differences in anxiety level between two groups. However, subjects in the experimental group were found to have significantly higher postoperative knowledge levels than those in the control group, and were very satisfied with the CD ROM program. Conclusion: The nursing education program using CD ROM before minor surgery proved to be an effective nursing intervention to increase knowledge of patients and contribute to their self care after discharge. To decrease anxiety of the surgery, the nursing education program should be combined with supprortive emotional nursing intervention, such as touch, and massage.

The purpose of this study was to develop CD-ROM so that students can understand 8051 Microprocessor unit easily in electronics circuit practice subject of technical high school. The study gives students, who have difficulties in learning, a chance for self-directed and supplementary learning by suggesting interface process with 8051 Practice Kit. To achieve these purposes, literature survey, collecting textbooks and materials, development of CD-ROM were gradually carried out. Each steps were as follows: Firstly, in literature survey, concepts and characteristics of multimedia and application to class were reviewed. Secondly, text contents on 8051 Microprocessor unit were analyzed, main contents were extracted and graphic, sound, animation were made. It was consisted of eight basic learning subjects, and designed to flow systematically. In this study, we presented a kind of teaching-learning material by developing CD-ROM in 8051 microprocessor unit in electronics circuit practice subject as a central matter. This material will be able to help technical high school students in learning

This study was conducted to develop and evaluate food safety training program for employees in foodservice operations. The developed CD-ROM was consisted of 5 parts: foodbome illness, personal hygiene, food handling in food production steps, HACCP system, and sanitary facilities. It has made slides for all contents, the animation and movie to raise interests and concentrations, and illustrations and pictures to understand. The evaluation checklists were developed 15 questionnaires including understanding(5), information(3), concentration(4), recommendation(2), and the most important factor(1) and measured by Likert 5-point scale. Fifty-four dietitians in Daegu and Gyeongbuk schools, hospitals, and industries foodservice operations responded to the surveys. The results are as follows; The most important part in the CD-ROM was personal hygiene(33.3%). The total mean was $3.95{\pm}0.41,\;3.91{\pm}0.46$ on understanding, $3.89{\pm}0.50$ on information, $3.87{\pm}0.55$ on concentration and $4.29{\pm}0.49$ on recommendation. The score was significantly higher in the recommendation part than others. Overall, as the developed CD-ROM has achieved fine score, a study on the effect of education needs to be followed. Moreover, consistent and organized education by developing a variety of sanitation education methods should be conducted.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to develop the children obesity prevention program and to analyze how this program has an effect on students' degree of knowledge, attitude for obesity prevention. Methods: The study design was Compromise Experience Group Pre-Post Design. 238 students in the 4th and 5th grade of 4 elementary schools in Seoul were nonrandomly assigned to the study group(n=115) or the control group(n=113). The Program was applied for 3 times and surveys were conducted 2 times as pre-test and post-test. Results: 1. The obesity prevention CD-ROM was developed by analyzing of learners and educational facilities, selecting the study object and contents and producing educational methods and materials. The study contents were included definition, types, factors and side-effects of obesity, and It was contained dietary habit, exercise and life style for obesity prevention and healthy life. 2. Demographic characteristics were not significantly different between study group and control group. Among the subjects investigated, 27.8% of the study group and 38.1% of the control group stated that they had experienced in the obesity prevention program in past. 3. The obesity knowledge and attitude score after this obesity prevention program were improved significantly than before the program(P<0.001). Conclusion: The CD-ROM developed in this study for the children obesity prevention program was proven to be effective in improving obesity knowledge, attitude for the obesity prevention.

The purpose of this study is to develop lesson plans. teaching guide, and teaching materials applying practical reasoning teaching model in the area of ’human development and family relationship’in middle school home economics. The practical reasoning teaching model consists of five factors: Desired results, Awareness of context, Alternative approaches, Consequences of action, and Action. This study based on practical reasoning has following process: Curriculum development. Developing lesson pan, teaching material, an teaching guide, Experimental teaching and evaluation. Feedback, Production of CD-Rom. Teaching guide includes lesson plan, workbook multimedia materials and teaching resources. Especially teaching guide in CD-Rom can be used effectively in the actual teaching. In the classroom, this teaching model accomplished active and interesting participation of teachers and students. It is proposed that practical reasoning teaching model should be applied to other areas of home economics. In addition various teaching materials based on practical reasoning need to developed.

The colorful overhead projector films, named as Bio-cosmos II, including photographs, pictures, concept maps, and diagrams, were developed and manufactured as audio-visual teaching aids and teaching resources for students' biology learning in high school, and the CD-ROM and web sites for their application to the school were also constructed. The content of the films was organized based upon the analysis of seven different biology textbooks approved by the Ministry of Education. The films were designated based on various instructional strategies and manufactured using multimedia with various educational softwares. The CD-ROM was composed of the scenes as logo, initial main, chapters list, contents, and quit. Initial main scene indicated various chapters according to the texts of biology areas in General Science, Biology I, and II. Each chapters linked with the scenes for detailed concept maps, the downstream real subjects, and contents. The subject screens were composed of various types of summarized diagrams including lesson contents, figures, pictures, photographs, and their explanation, experimental procedures and results, tables for summarized contents, and additional animation with video captures, explanations, glossary, etc. Most files were manufactured in software Adobe Photoshop by scanning the pictures, figures and photographs, and then the explanation, modification, storing with PICT or PSD files, and transformation with JPG files, were processed in the aspect of high quality in terms of instructional strategies and graphic skills on gracefulness, clearness, colorfulness, brightness, and distinctness. A 14 films for biology areas in General Science, 80 for Biology I, and 142 for Biology II were manufactured and loaded to the CD-ROM and web site, and the files had been attempted to opened with an internet home-page of http://gic.kyungpook.ac.kr/biocosmos.
