  • Due to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, innovation in various technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data (Big Data), and cloud (Cloud) is accelerating, and data is considered an important asset. With the innovation of these technologies, various efforts are being made to lead technological innovation in the field of defense science and technology. In Korea, the government also announced the "Defense Innovation 4.0 Plan," which consists of five key points and 16 tasks to foster advanced science and technology forces in March 2023. The plan also includes the establishment of a Condition-Based Maintenance system (CBM+) to improve the operability and availability of weapons systems and reduce defense costs. Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) aims to secure the reliability and availability of the weapon system and analyze changes in equipment's state information to identify them as signs of failure and defects, and CBM+ is a concept that adds Remaining Useful Life prediction technology to the existing CBM concept [1]. In order to establish a CBM+ system for the weapon system, sensors are installed and sensor data are required to obtain condition information of the weapon system. In this paper, we propose a sensor data metadata schema to efficiently and effectively manage sensor data collected from sensors installed in various weapons systems.

  • The most critical factor in developing coalbed methane(CBM) reservoir is absolute permeability. Both productivity and economics of the CBM depend on the absolute permeability. The methods to estimate it are core analysis and well test. However, absolute permeability determined by core analysis cannot be a good representative of CBM reservoir. Therefore, it is generally estimated by well test. In this study, well test methods applicable of CBM reservoir were classified with their characteristics. Merits and demerits of each well tests were also analyzed. Based on those parameters, design considerations and procedures of well test were derived. After each well tests was performed, the procedure of well test interpretations to estimate reservoir properties such as absolute permeability and skin factor was presented.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a computer-based cognitive bias modification program (CBM-I) and to test the efficacy of CBM-I for college students with social anxiety. Forty socially anxious individuals were randomly assigned to the CBM-I(n=21) or a waiting list condition(n=19). Both groups were assessed at the beginning and the end of the program with interpretation bias and social anxiety symptoms(e.g. B=FNE=Brief-Fear of Negative Evaluation Scale, LSAS=Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale). The CBM-I modified interpretation by providing positive feedback when participants made benign interpretations and negative feedback in response to threat interpretations. Participants in CBM-I completed three computer sessions over three weeks. The CBM-I successfully decreased social anxiety symptoms compared to the control condition(t=2.35, p<.05; t=4.70, p<.001). This result suggests that interpretation modification may have clinical utility when applied as a multi-session intervention.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to suggest weapon system specifications for requirements of Condition-Based Maintenance(CBM/CBM+). Methods: The military documents and case studies with regard to condition-based maintenance were reviewed. Representative Korea defense specifications of weapon system such as an aircraft, a C4ISR etc. were analyzed and investigated the level of requirement for maintainability was. Results: Condition-based maintenance was defined in both U.S. instruction and Korean directive. While deparment of defense(U.S.) provide a guidebook for CBM+, detailed instruction was not sufficient for Korean. Ministry of national defense(ROK) define the CBM+ by means of IPS element which should be developed along with the system development. The maintainability was barely included in Korean defense specifications, except for BIT(Built-in test) function. As a first step for defining the condition-based maintenance requirement in defense specification, this study suggests a standard form for data needed to acquire according to types of system, fault, failure, and so on. Conclusion: The empirical researches on CMB/CBM+ with domestic weapon systems are not enough, and a logic which leads the maintenance strategy to CMB/CBM+ is not solved. Through technical researches and institutional improvements including this study, we hope that condition-based maintenance would be fully established in the Korean defense field.

  • Production data from hydraulically fractured well in coalbed methane (CBM) reservoirs was analyzed using decl ine curve analysis (DCA), flow regime analysis, and flowing material balance to forecast the production performance and to determine estimated ultimate recovery (EUR) and timing for applying the DCA. To generate synthetic production data, reservoir models were built based on the CBM propertie of the Appalachian Basin, USA. Production data analysis shows that the transient flow (TF) occurs for 6~16 years and then the boundary dominated flow (BDF) was reached. In the TF period, it is impossible to forecast the production performance due to the significant errors between predicted data and synthetic data. The prediction can be conducted using the production data of more than a year after reached BDF with EUR error of approximately 5%.

  • A weld scallop is a small quadrant or half circle type hole installed in the weld line cross area for easy welding operation. Many types of T-bars with a scallop can be welded in a block assembly stage in shipbuilding. The difficulties arise from the fact that scallops are to be filled by build-up welding after welding of the cross line is complete. In this study, a non-scallop block joint welding method was developed using special type CBM (ceramic backing material). The wedge shaped CBM was devised to insert a CBM into just the V groove of weld line cross area without weld scallop. A saw-toothed shape was adopted for easy cutting of the unnecessary part in the CBM fitting process. The applicability of the developed method was verified through welding experiments based on the yard welding conditions.

  • The carbohydrate-binding module (CBM) is an important domain of most cellulases that plays a key role in the hydrolysis of cellulose. The neutral endoglucanase (EG1) gene was reconstructed. A redesigned endoglucanase, named EG2, was constructed with a CBM containing a linker from Corticium rolfsii (GenBank Accession No. D49448). The redesigned EG genes were expressed in Escherichia coli, and their characteristics are discussed. Results showed that the degradation of cellulose by EG2 was about double that by EG1. The specific activities of EG1 and EG2 were tested under optimal conditions, and EG2 had higher activity ($169.1{\pm}2.74$ U/mg) toward CMC-Na than did EG1 ($84.0{\pm}1.98$) in the process of cellulose degradation. The optimal pH and temperature, pH stability, and heat stability of EG1 and EG2 were similar. Results indicated that the CBM plays an essential role in the hydrolysis of cellulose. We can improve EG's catalytic power by adding the CBM from Corticium rolfsii.

  • The United States has implemented the TLCSM (Total Life Cycle System Management) to minimize the total lifecycle cost of aircraft and to improve operating availability. As a practical strategy, CBM + is required to be applied to new weapons systems. The F-35 aircraft applied PHM under CBM + concept from the development stage. In this study, we analyzed the technology trends, the level of PHM technology in Korea, and the development trends of foreign technology. Then, we analyzed the PHM technical elements and constructed the 5 phases of technical elements acquisition roadmap for military fixed wing aircraft parts PHM.

선박의 주요 기기 5종에 대한 CBM(Condition Based Monitoring) 정보와 PMS(Planed Maintenance System) 정보를 통합 GUI(Dashboard) 형태로 선육간 구성하여, 선박-육상간 최적의 상태 모니터링과 신제적인 예방 정비 활동이 가능하도록 서비스를 제공한다.
