Automatic Verification and Tuning of Transaction-based Database Applications (트랜잭션 기반 데이타베이스 응용프로그램의 안전성 자동 검증 및 자동 튜닝)

  • In this paper, we suggest a system which automatically verifies and tunes transaction processing database applications based on program analysis technology. This system automatically verifies two kinds of transaction processing errors. The first case is the un-closed transaction. In this case, data is not updated as expected or performance of overall system can decrease seriously by locking some database tables until the process terminates. The second case is the miss-use of transaction isolation(inking) level. This causes runtime exception or abnormal termination of the program depending on runtime environment. This system automatically tunes two kinds of inefficient definition of transaction processing which decrease the performance of overall system. The first case happens when opened transaction is closed too late. And the second case happens when transaction isolation level is set too high.

Effects of a Cognitive Acceleration Program on Primary School Students (CASE 프로그램에 의한 초등학생들의 인지가속 효과)

  • This study investigated the effects of the cognitive acceleration program devised for accelerating the development of formal reasoning ability of students. ‘Thinking Science’ activities developed by the Cognitive Acceleration through Science Education(CASE) project were implemented to 420 students in 5th grade aged 10+ in four elementary schools over a period of two yea. Homogeneity between the experimental group and control group was tested with SRT II, and the improvement of formal reasoning ability of the students was tested with SRT III. The results were analyzed by treatment, gender, and cognitive levels of the students. Statistically significant gains were shown in the CASE group compared with those in the control group. Cognitive level of girls in the CASE group increased as compared with the control group, while there was moderate effect in boys for the primary school. These results implied that the thinking science activities were effective in cognitive acceleration of girls aged 10+. It was shown that much more CASE students in concrete operational level shifted to formal operational level as compared with the control group while there were no significant effects in the other levels for primary school.

  • The purpose of this study was to confirm the effect by case management program and durability of the effect, which targeted on the 250(101 men and 149 women) people who had undergone hypertensive patients case management program through the National Health Insurance Corporation from May 1. 2007 to June 30. 2007. In order to evaluate the effect of case management and durability, the study was examined just before the case management, right after case management, after 6 months and after 12 months through classifying case management 1(Group I) and case management 2(Group II). As a result, the participants' blood pressure level in the hypertensive patients case management improved just after the case management compare to just before one. but it had a tendency to increase once more after 6 months and 12 months case management. In addition, it was confirmed to maintain the effect by the case management in Group II compare to Group I.

  • A defect analysis program for a composite motor case was developed to apply the ultrasonic signal processing method, based on the ultrasonic pulse-echo method. With the proposed defect analysis program, defects of FRP delamination and FRP/Rubber disbond in the composite motor case could be quantitatively measured. The defects detected in the composite motor case were in good agreement with the results measured with the computed tomography and video microscope. This paper described the development process of the defect analysis program to convert the ultrasonic test data into the C-Scan images.

  • In an attempt to accelerate the development of formal reasoning ability of students, 'Thinking Science' activities developed by the Cognitive Acceleration through Science Education(CASE) project were implemented to 841 students in 7th grade aged 12+ in six middle schools over a period of two years. Homogeneity between the CASE group and control group was tested with SRT II, while the improvement of formal reasoning ability of the students was tested with SRT VII. The results were analyzed by treatment, gender, and cognitive levels of the students. Statistically significant gains were shown in the CASE group compared with those in the control group. Cognitive level of girls in the CASE group significantly increased as compared with the control group, while there was moderate effect in boys. These results implied that the thinking science activities were effective in cognitive acceleration of girls aged 12+. It was shown that much more CASE students in pre or concrete operational level shifted to formal operational level as compared with the control group while there were significant effects in all levels (ES=0.31${\sim}$1.10) without showing any tendency.

A Case Analysis of Program Outcomes Assessment Systems for Engineering Education Accreditation of South Korea and USA (한국과 미국의 프로그램 학습성과 평가체계 사례분석)

  • This study aimed to seek the ways of improving program outcomes assessment systems for engineering education accreditation of South Korea through performing comparative analysis on those of the United States. Case-study research method was implemented to achieve the research goal. Five university programs, which have been well recognized as good practices in engineering education accreditation in the United States, were selected and analyzed. In addition, those of three universities in South Korea were chosen for comparative analysis, which were reformed by university affiliated Engineering Education Innovative Centers. The analysis results indicated that there were differences in each program's program outcomes, assessment level of program outcomes, evaluation methods on program outcomes achievement, and analysis and improvement records. It was drawn up that the evaluation methods on program outcomes achievement should be paid full attention. For better program outcomes assessment system, however, the followings are in more attention. Firstly, to establish program outcomes reflecting program goal. Secondly, to set up the detailed plans for analysis and quality improvement on program outcomes. Thirdly, to keep continuing efforts on curriculum update.

  • This study analyzes how the health program is implemented by political and economic factors in the case of Minga Ambiental program in Paraguay. In the field of critical medical anthropology, the practice of health care programs explains that socio-cultural and political and economic factors can be the main variables besides the primary purpose of preventing and eradicating the disease. In the same vein, this study also analyzed how community-based health programs operate by various external factors. As a result, the Minga Ambiental program is a health program called Dengue Fever, which has been tended to be sustained and expanded by various actors, including politicians and corporations in countries and communities, despite concerns about effectiveness. In this case, this study found that health programs can be operated by political and economic relations different from their original purpose, and are intertwined in various social contexts by various actors in constructing health programs.

  • EPG (Electronic Program Guide), which was born with the development of digital broadcasting technology, is becoming a successful data service in the environment that a digital broadcasting station operates more than one hundred channels. In the circumstance, the request for the development or renewal of EPG frequently occurs and so the developers are looking for ways to improve the efficiency of the EPG development. This paper addresses the need of the developers by devising an EPG feature model based on FODA and the test-cases for each feature of the model. Utilizing the EPG feature model and the test-cases, the EPG development process, especially the phases of requirement analysing and test-case designing can be improved.
