  • A problem exists in the conventional transportation cart applications, in which an external power supply with mechanical contact connection (bus bar connection) is required to drive the motor. Therefore, continuous effort for maintenance is required, aside from the expensive bus bar connector. To solve this problem, a self-electricity-generated transportation cart system without bus bar has recently been introduced. In this system, a battery needs to store the power of the generated wheel, and a boost converter, which converts the low battery voltage to high bus voltage to drive the motor inverter, is necessary. However, since the instantaneous large current required for starting the motor is supplied from the battery, a battery with large size and volume should be adopted to withstand this large current. In this study, a boost converter that can supply a large instantaneous current by using super Capacitor string is proposed. The proposed converter can be realized with a small size and volume compared with the conventional battery-fed boost converter. Operational principles, analysis, and design of the proposed converter are presented, and experimental results are provided to validate the proposed converter.

  • In this paper, vibration suppression of an elastic beam fixed on a moving cart and carrying a fixed or moving mass is considered. A modified pulse sequence method with RIC(Robust Internal-loop Compensator) is proposed to suppress the single model residual vibration and to get accurate positioning of the beam-mass-cart system. The performance of the proposed input preshaping method is compared with that of the previous ones through simulations and experiments. Using the proposed method, it is able to suppress the initial vibration of the beam-mass-cart system carrying a concentrated mass. Accurate PTP(point-to-point) positioning of the moving mass without residual vibration is also obtained experimentally by modifying the proposed pulse sequence method. Finally, the proposed input preshaping method is applied successfully to the system to follow square trajectories of the moving mass without residual vibration.

  • Objectives: Determining the work-relatedness of lung cancer developed through occupational exposures is very difficult. Aims of the present study are to develop a decision tree of occupational lung cancer. Methods: 153 cases of lung cancer surveyed by the Occupational Safety and Health Research Institute (OSHRI) from 1992-2007 were included. The target variable was whether the case was approved as work-related lung cancer, and independent variables were age, sex, pack-years of smoking, histological type, type of industry, latency, working period and exposure material in the workplace. The Classification and Regression Test (CART) model was used in searching for predictors of occupational lung cancer. Results: In the CART model, the best predictor was exposure to known lung carcinogens. The second best predictor was 8.6 years or higher latency and the third best predictor was smoking history of less than 11.25 pack-years. The CART model must be used sparingly in deciding the work-relatedness of lung cancer because it is not absolute. Conclusion: We found that exposure to lung carcinogens, latency and smoking history were predictive factors of approval for occupational lung cancer. Further studies for work-relatedness of occupational disease are needed.

  • It is a challenging work for service operators to accurately classify different services, which runs on various wireless networks based upon numerous platforms. This works focuses on design and implementation of a classifier, which accurately classifies applications, which are captured horn WiBro Network. Notion of session is introduced for the classifier, instead of commonly used Flow to develop a classifier. Based on session information of given traffic, two classification algorithms are presented, Classification and Regression Tree and Support Vector Machine. Both algorithms are capable of classifying accurately and effectively with misclassification rate of 0.85%, and 0.94%, respectively. This work shows that classifier using CART provides ease of interpreting the result and implementation.

  • Electric cart, one of the many devices created to aid golfers, combines software and wireless technology with over 200 different parts and computers. It is designed to be controlled remotely and can be started or stopped using a remote control while on the golf course. However, one recurring issue is the frequent derailment of the electric cart during operation. This problem not only hampers game performance but also causes delays as drivers lose focus. The objective of this study is to enhance the driving system of autonomous electric carts, which are controlled by the driver's signals, in order to address the issue of derailments. These autonomous carts follow a line tracer on the course. By examining the evolution of golf carts and the safety enhancements implemented in current models, we propose to supplement the autonomous driving system to increase safety and improve the performance of these electric carts.

  • This experimental research explores the effect of the movie that can be classified as non-news media on viewers' political and social attitude on the theoretical basis of priming effect, focused on the movie 'cart' that deals with non-regular workers' labor movement. For this experimental research, one group of subjects composed of university students were exposed to movie 'cart', and the other not to the movie. After watching a movie, each group of subjects responded to questions that are designed to measure the seriousness of non-regular workers' problem, the necessity of labor movement, support of opposition party, support of the current government. This research found that subjects exposed to the movie 'cart' consider non-regular workers' problem more serious and supports opposition party more positively than subjects not exposed to movie 'cart.' However hypotheses that expected the positive support of treated subjects on labor union and less positive support of treated subjects on current government were rejected.

  • Drought indices such as SPI(Standard Precipitation Index) and PDSI(Palmer Drought Severity Index) estimated using ground observations are not enough to describe detail spatial distribution of drought condition. In this study, the drought index with improved spatial resolution was estimated by using the CART algorithm and ancillary data such as MODIS NDVI, MODIS LST, land cover, rainfall, average air temperature, SPI, and PDSI data. Estimated drought index using the proposed approach for the year 2008 demonstrates better spatial information than that of traditional approaches. Results show that the availability of satellite imageries and various associated data allows us to get improved spatial drought information using a data mining technique and ancillary data and get better understanding of drought condition and prediction.

  • PURPOSE. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the reliability of computer-aided replica technique (CART) by calculating its agreement with the replica technique (RT), using statistical agreement analysis. MATERIALS AND METHODS. A prepared metal die and a metal crown were fabricated. The gap between the restoration and abutment was replicated using silicone indicator paste (n = 25). Gap measurements differed in the control (RT) and experimental (CART) groups. In the RT group, the silicone replica was manually sectioned, and the marginal and occlusal gaps were measured using a microscope. In the CART group, the gap was digitized using optical scanning and image superimposition, and the gaps were measured using a software program. The agreement between the measurement techniques was evaluated by using the 95% Bland-Altman limits of agreement and concordance correlation coefficients (CCC). The least acceptable CCC was 0.90. RESULTS. The RT and CART groups showed linear association, with a strong positive correlation in gap measurements, but without significant differences. The 95% limits of agreement between the paired gap measurements were 3.84% and 7.08% of the mean. The lower 95% confidence limits of CCC were 0.9676 and 0.9188 for the marginal and occlusal gap measurements, respectively, and the values were greater than the allowed limit. CONCLUSION. The CART is a reliable digital approach for evaluating the fit accuracy of fixed dental prostheses.

  • Data mining is to clarify pattern or correlation of mass data of complicated structure and to predict the diverse outcomes. This technique is used in the fields of finance, telecommunication, circulation, medicine and so on. In this paper, we selected risk factors of respiratory diseases in the field of medicine. The data we used was divided into respiratory diseases group and health group from the Gyeongsangbuk-do database of Community Health Survey conducted in 2012. In order to select major risk factors, we applied data mining techniques such as neural network, logistic regression, Bayesian network, C5.0 and CART. We divided total data into training and testing data, and applied model which was designed by training data to testing data. By the comparison of prediction accuracy, CART was identified as best model. Depression, smoking and stress were proved as the major risk factors of respiratory disease.

  • Recently, dispersion of damaged forest by pine wilt disease has been regarded as a serious social issue. Damages by pine wilt disease have been spreaded by natural area expansion of the vectors in the damaged area, while the national wide damage spread has induced by human-involved carrying infected trees out of damaged area. In this study, damaged trees were detected and located on the digital map by aerial photograph and terrestrial surveys. The spatial distribution pattern of damaged trees, and the relationship of spatial distribution of damaged trees and some geomorphological factors were geostatistically analysed. Finally, we maked natural spread pattern map of pine wilt disease using geostatistical CART(Classification and Regression Trees) model. This study verified that geostatistical analysis and CART model are useful tools for understanding spatial distribution and natural spread pattern of pine wilt diseases.
