  • This paper describes a development of the integrated controller system for car electrical signal and sensor input/output control with CAN communication protocol. In order to improve the system reliability and effectiveness for the conventional controller using the wiring harness, a detailed integrated control system is introduced and discussed. The CAN communication protocol is a robust control method with serial bus system for the control of distributed module in the multiplexed network. Therefore, this has high reliability and flexibility in the overall control system implementation. This paper proposes an integrated system with high reliability and stability for control of various car signal, and evaluates the effectiveness of the system using the actual implementation. For these purposes, after a brief of the main features of the CAN will be addressed, this paper presents the result of development of the integrated hardware system and overall control program.

  • The high performance intelligent robots have become to use a lot of sensors, actuators and controllers which are connected via bus-type networks while the point to point connection was widely used in-robot networks of existing robots. The bus topology makes the robot system share data internally and it can also reduce the weight of the robot because of smaller wiring harness. The CAN is one of serial bus communication protocols typically used for in-vehicle networks and now it can also be used for in-robot networks because of its low cost and reliability. A performance evaluation system for this type of networked system is developed to analyze the real-time operation and the reliability of a serial-bus network, and the usefulness of the developed evaluation system is shown by some experiments for a network of many CAN nodes.

  • A large number of motors and sensors are used to drive a humanoid robot. In order to solve the wiring problem that occurs when connecting multiple actuators, a controller based on a communication network has been used, and CAN, which is advantageous in terms of cost and a highly reliable communication protocol, was mainly used. In terms of the structure of the controller, a torque control type structure that is easy to implement an advanced algorithm into the upper controller is preferred. In this case, the low communication bandwidth of CAN becomes a problem, and in order to obtain sufficient communication bandwidth, a communication network is configured by separating into a plurality of CAN networks. In this study, a stability analysis on transmission time delay is performed for a multi-motor control system in which high-speed FlexRay and low-speed CAN communication networks are hierarchically connected in order to obtain a high communication bandwidth, and sensor information and driving signals are delivered within the allowed transmission time. The proposed hierarchical network-based control system is expected to improve control performance because it can implement multiple motor control systems with a single network.

  • Currently developing the OBC of the next-generation LEO satellite by Korea Aerospace Research Institute adopts the LEON2-FT/AT697F processor to achieve high performance. And various communication devices such as SpaceWire, MIL-STD-1553B, DMAUART and CAN Master are integrated to the separated standard communication FPGAs within the OBC, where they can be controlled by the processor and flight software (FSW) through PCI interface. The Actel 1553BRM IP core is used for the 1553B in the next-generation LEO OBC and the B1553BRM wrapper from Aeroflex Gaisler is used for connecting it to the AMBA bus in FPGA. This paper presents the design and development of PCI-based 1553B communication software, and describes the handling mechanism of 1553B operation in FSW task level. Also it shows the test results on real-hardware and simulator.

  • This paper consists of two parts: the protocol for tag-to-tag mesh network and the implementation of dual-radio RFID system. Recently, RFID has been adopted in ports or warehouse, being attached to containers and palettes for loading/unloading automation. However, the RFID system has encountered one problem - some tags cannot receive any command from reader intermittently due to signal interference by containers or field equipments (e. g. cranes and yard tractors). This area where reader signal cannot reach is called dead-zone. The proposed method for solving the dead-zone problem is as follows. A zone which can be communicated directly between readers and tags communicates in 433MHz frequency band in compliance with ISO/IEC 18000-7 standard. On the other hand, dead-zone communicates in 2.4GHz frequency band by using tag-to-tag mesh network in compliance with IEEE 802.15.4 standard. The proposed method can not only save much cost to install additional readers but also help resolve the dead-zone problem. Furthermore, it can provide the easier, faster, and more economical network infrastructure.

  • In this paper, This paper is a liquid droplet discharge system using a water level sensor that can linearly detect changes in water level through experiments with an infrared sensor, a laser sensor, an ultrasonic sensor, and a capacitance sensor. SMPS, regulator 5V, and LDO 3.3V were designed for power supply. A water level sensor input ADC circuit and microprocessor were used. Solenoid valve control, pump output control unit for positive/negative pressure generation, CAN, Ethernet, UART communication, and USB for industrial communication were used. The change in pressure was confirmed through the change in water level, the change in pressure was minimized, and a system for discharging liquid droplets was implemented.

  • As an NMEA 2000 is a standard for communicate to other electronic equipment, it implemented a Universal gateway based on this ship's network. To implement a NMEA 2000 based Universal gateway, it is porting a NMEA 2000 stack source and CAN device driver source to board, and then it connected a board that equip with various communication protocol(CAN, RS232, USB, Ethernet port). To verify converted ship's data to a developed gateway, it connected pc based simulater program and monitoring program to a developed board. so we can see a ship's data through NEMA 2000 network. We verified a gateway performance and analyzed a generated ship's data from simulator program through a monitoring program that was connected a gateway and NMEA 2000 network. so it was designed, implemented to allow monitoring through utilizing a communication method that user wants.
