The effect of Gate type on Injection Molding of Automotive Bumper (자동차 범퍼금형에서의 게이트 형상이 제품 성형에 미치는 영향)

  • Injection molding process is one of the processes that can mold plastic product as low cost. However, manufacturing process of automobile bumper mold has lots of trial and error. Especially, desiging of a huge mold such as bumper mold is needed to establish a design standard for runner system. In this study, CAE was conducted to observe the variation of melt-flow by changing runner and gate type in automobile bumper mold as preceding study for a standard design of runner system.

  • Many rubber products are used in industrial products such as various hoses, rubber belts and oil seals etc. Especially, more then 200 rubber parts are used in the automobile, but design technology of these is largely dependent on Held experiences. These methods brought about too much time and cost in the developing procedures. However, with the help of recent rapid development of non-liner computer analysis, we can develop new sound products at low cost. Therefore in this study, optimizations of design variables such as location and number of gate in order to develop CLIP rubber product made of EPDM were performed by CAE in which Cross-WLF equations are adopted. The validity of proposed variables is evaluated by comparison with real forming results.

  • We evaluate the durability of vehicle chassis component under dynamic loadings. Since the fatigue analysis of vehicle component is based on the dynamic load history it must be done by dynamic analysis. But in case the vehicle component has natural frequencies much larger than reversing frequencies of load history, we can get small analysis errors by applying quasi-static analysis. So it is inefficient that we apply to the dynamic analysis for all the vehicle components. In this research, we discuss the quasi-static analysis method which is appropriate for the fatigue analysis. And in case we can only perform the fatigue analysis based on dynamic analysis, we introduce more efficient method in the analysis time and hard disk storage.

  • CAD/CAM이 국내에 도입되기 시작한 것은 70년대 후반이나, 본격적으로 보급되어 사용되기 시작한 것은 80년대 초부터라 하겠다. 도입초기에는 설계의 획기적인 변화를 약속해주는 새로운 기술로 각광을 받아오고, 또한 몇몇 분야에서는 그만한 가능성을 보여주기도 하였으나, 설계실 에서 컴퓨터가 제도판을 밀어내기 시작한지 약 10년이 지난 이 시점에서 돌이켜보건대 과연 CAD/CAM이 초기의 커다란 기대에 부응하는 성과를 올리고 있는 가에는 의문이 가는 것도 부 인할 수 없는 사실이다. 이는, 여러 가지 해석이 있을 수 있겠으나 필자의 견해로는 다음의 4가 지에 주로 기인한다. 1) CAD/CAM시스템 자체의 기능 및 성능 부족 2) 이기종 시스템간의 인터페이스 기술의 부족 3) 산업현장의 설계표준, 정보관리체계 등의 기반환경 미비 4) 적용 대상에의 전용화(customizing)기술의 부족 이 글에서는 이러한 원인들의 부분적인 해결을 위해서 필자가 속해있는 회사에서 수행한 노력 들을 몇 가지 사례를 통하여 소개하고자 한다.

  • Diesel engine injector is used for spraying the fuel into the cylinder chamber. Complex phenomenon like cavitation occurs from small scale domain, highly pressurized condition and rapid injection. Flow inside the nozzle affects the whole engine performance including combustion and exhaust, therefore understanding the flow inside the injector nozzle is very important. In this paper, cylindrical and convergent-divergent nozzles are suggested for nozzle types and their influences on nozzle internal flow and nozzle outlet characteristics will be analyzed by changing their outlet diameters.

  • This paper describes the analysis of extrusion process and integrity for the condenser tube which is component of the heat exchanger in automobile and air conditioning apparatus. As development of the analysis method using computer, recently. It have been applied to the 3-dimensional hot extrusion process with complex section area of the non-steady statement and then results of the analysis have been applied to optimal die design and process design. As the result, this paper confirmed that used extrusion die of the research is satisfactorily designed to dimensional accuracy. And the stress point of view, condenser tube confirmed that it was influenced by the flow pressure of alternative regrigerants.

  • In order to prevent the sharp edge during the side impact, a cause analysis and CAE based risk prediction were carried out in this study. It was found that sharp edge occurs mainly because of stiffness difference between the major parts and structural stress concentration. It could be improved by directly reinforcing the crack initiation region or by weakening the joints connecting the parts. The fracture criterion based on major in-plain strain was suggested and the risk prediction process for sharp edge prevention was established.

  • The Door hinge is a very important part for door sagging performance of a vehicle. It is divided into two classes as a forge- and press-type according to a manufacturing technique. The press-type door hinge is cheap, but shows low strength. To apply the press-type door hinge to a fullsized car with satisfactory door sagging performance, we optimized the design parameters of the door hinge using the DFSS method. As a result, the effective design parameters of the press-type door hinge with good door sagging performance were obtained.

  • The brake pedal is one of the most important parts for controlling the speed of the vehicle. Incorrect design of the brake pedal can place the driver in danger. CAE is being done for weight reduction to improve the safety of the driver and the vehicle performance and research is performed to improve the accuracy of analysis. The accuracy of the experimental and analysis values in regard to the stiffness of brake pedals, however, is still poor. Therefore, the aim of this study is to present appropriate analysis conditions based on the factors that influence the analysis in order to obtain accurate analysis results.

  • A hybrid structure composed of magnesium and steel is Instrument Panel structure used for the basement of cockpit module components. For that reason, A hybrid structure has to be designed for satisfying components assembly design facility and styling. There are various models of If like steel structure assembly, however having been applied normally, but magnesium structure assembly selected far saving weight down. This paper introduces a hybrid structure having advantages between steel and magnesium structure and presents a CAE technical solution based on a development project. furthermore, it provides desired direction of the future development is suggested.
