The physicochemical properties of rice flour roasted at various temperatures and times were analyzed, and the quality characteristics of tarakjuk made from these roasted rice flours were investigated. As roasting temperature and time increased, rice flour showed decreasing moisture, protein content, and glucose the major reducing sugar of rice flour. Total amino acid content did not show any significant changes, but the amount of free amino acids and individual amino acids, such as lysine, tryptophane, and tyrosine, decreased. A decrease in L value and increases in a and b values from both roasted rice flour and tarakjuk was observed. Reduced crystallinity and gelatinization temperatures of roasted rice flour were investigated with X-ray diffractogram and DSC, respectively. The thermal transitions between $100.6{\sim}127.6^{\circ}C$ of tarakjuk by DSC are considered to be due to the melting of amylose-lipid complex. As the roasting temperature and time of rice flours increased, tarakjuk showed lower viscosity and higher spreadability. Sensory characteristics, such as nutty flavor, color intensity, and gritty texture increased significantly. Tarakjuk made from rice flour roasted at $185^{\circ}C$ for 25min showed the highest score on overall preference. From the above results, roasted rice flour produced more preferable tarakjuk than nonroasted flour in terms of sensory quality.
Polymorphonuclear leukocytes(PMN) are the predominant inflammatory cells recruited in acute lung injury such as adult respiratory distress syndrome, pneumonia and also chronic lung disease such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and pulmonary emphysema. Interleukin-8(IL-8) is an 8,000 D protein produced by many cells and has potent neutrophil chemoattractant and activating properties. The GRO, also called melanoma growth-stimulatory activity(MGSA), referring to a peptide of 73 amino acids, was reported to be mitogenic for cultured human melanoma cells. Mature GRO/MGSA has marked sequence similarity to IL-8. In view of the structural similarities to IL-8, it was of particular interest to test GRO for neutrophil activating and chemotactic properties. We found a significant release of IL-8 and GRO/MGSA from the cultured human umbilical vein endothelial cell(HUVEC) which was stimulated either with TNF$\alpha$ or IL-1$\beta$ and also found the expression of IL-8 and GRO/MGSA mRNA. Neutrophil chemotactic activity was enhanced in accordance with the increased IL-8 and GRO/MGSA. Our study also suggest that the IL-8 is more important in the increased neutrophil chemotactic activity than GRO/MGSA when endothelial cell is stimulated with TNF$\alpha$ or IL-1$\beta$ in vitro.

Nutritional and functional components, and physicochemical characteristics of mulberry fruits from Morus alba L. cultivars, including Daejappong, Iksuppong, Daesungppong, Yongppong, Cheongilppong, Gwasang 1 and Gwasang 2, were investigated and compared. Among the 7 mulberry cultivars examined, Iksuppong, Cheongilppong and Gwasang 2 had higher contents of nitrogen free extract, total sugar and total reducing sugar, than other mulberry cultivars, while contents of protein, fat, and fiber were lowest. Gwasang 1 and Daesungppong had the highest content of total phenolic, total flavonoid, and total anthocyanin. Daesungppong, Gwasang 1 and Gwasang 2 had higher contents of C3G and C3R than other mulberry cultivars, although C3R content of Cheongilppong was the highest. Four flavonoid contents varied among of 7 mulberry cultivars. Contents of two major flavonoids, rutin and quercetin, were the highest in Gwasang 2, while Iksuppong and Cheongilppong were the lowest. Contents of piceid and 4-prenylmoracin were the highest in Daesungppong and Cheongilppong, respectively. Cheongilppong of mulberrys had the highest content of GABA. Iksuppong and Gwasang 2 with moderate weight and dark color had higher contents of total soluble solid than other mulberry cultivars, while contents of titratable acidity were lower. Our results provide useful information on nutritional and functional constituents of mulberry fruits according to cultivars, and their physicochemical and processing properties.
The purpose of this study was to investigate differences of food preference and nutrient intake of students between elementary school and middle school in the same area and to provide data for better school food service. The subjects were 486 students, third to sixth grade of 3 elementary schools and first to second grade of 1 middle school in Nam jeju gun, Jeju, and the survey was conducted during June 1999. Food preference was assessed using questionnaires and 24-hour food intake was assessed using dietary record method. Data of weight and height were obtained from annual physical examination conducted at schools in May 1999. All the variables were compared among 3 groups in each gender: third and fourth grade elementary school(ES3,4), fifth and sixth grade elementary school(ES5,6), and first and second grade middle school(MS1,2). The results were summarized as follows. The average height, weight and BMI for the 3th grade boys in elementary schools met the national averages, but those of the others are below the national averages. Although general pattern of food preference looked similar among groups, food preference scores were significantly different among groups in 38 kinds foods for boys, and 27 kinds of foods for girls. MS1,2 group showed significantly lower food preference scores for most of foods as compared to those of ES3,4 and ES5,6 in both genders. Students of higher grade took more starch foods such as instant noodle, stewed rice cake and snacks. Average energy intakes of all the groups except MS1,2 girls were lower than recommended dietary allowances(RDA), and average intakes of protein, vitamins B1 and C met RDA, but the other nutrients were taken less than RDA and especially the intakes of iron, calcium and vitamins B2 were poor. Most of nutrients taken by school food service meal provided a major proportion of intakes. In conclusion, students of middle school were more particular about their foods served at school food service and marked lower food preference score than elementary school children and more conscious about their weight and appearance. These points should be reflected in planning food service menu at middle school.
The results ok feeding experiments to the mice with ginseng extract, ginseng Powder, and ADAPTAGEN, for 30 days before X-ray irradiation and for 40 days after the X-ray irradiation at 750 rads were as follow: 1. The 50% lethals days (LD50, ) by the X-ray irradiation were 9 days at 1, 000 rads. 10 days at 900 rads, 11 days at 800 rads, 14 days at 760 rads, and 19 darts at 750 rads. Therefore, the standard radiation dose was set at 750 radb/8 min. 2. The 80% of the control group mice exposed to the X-ray radiation without ginseng feeding died in periods ranging from 14 to 24 days and the 20~30% of the ginseng extract and ginseng powder feeding groups died. But the 100% of the mice fed with ADAPTAGEN survived. 3. Testicles of the control group became smaller in weight than the nomad group by 26.5 to 29.0% and those of the ginseng extract and ginseng powder feeding group reduced by 44.6 to 60.4%. However, testicles of the ADAPTiIGEN feeding group increased in size by 77.4% to 87.1% and in weight by 61%, showing a recovery phenomenon approarhing to those of the ordinary mice. The ADAPTAGEN feeding group mice were also as active in color as the ordinary ones. 4. An electron micrograph(X8, 000X2.2) of the liver cells of the mice which had been 40 days after X-ray irradiation showed as follows; The control group appeared that is physiological action stopped due to the frequent occurrence of morphological change of the nucleus and diffusion of chromosome, reduction in microspores and expansion of microsomts, and endoplasmic change of mitochondria. The liver cells or the ADAPTAGEN feeding group were in a state similar to those of the ordinary mice restoring to normalcy In contrast, the liver cells of the ginseng extract and ginseng powder feeding groups were still far from being normal. 5. A serological analysis showed that the control group sharply decreased in albumin, Y-g1obu1in, and IgG so far as to cause dystrophy and to weaken antibody resistance but that ginseng extract and ginseng powder feeding groups, though in a little more restoring state than the control group, were still far from the normal group. The ADAPTAGEN feeding group restored to a state as comparable to the normal group in the contents of albumin ${\gamma}$-globulin, IgG and serum protein. In order words, it is noteworthy that ADAPTAGEN feeding was effective in revitalizing the destroyed cells of a living body and that it has the function of normalizing antibody components.
The present study was conducted to measure diurnal patterns in the flow of soluble non-ammonia nitrogen (SNAN) fractions in the liquid phase of digesta entering the omasum of cows fed grass-red clover silage supplemented with barley and rapeseed meal. Four ruminally cannulated cows were fed, in a 4×4 Latin square design, grass-red clover silage alone (GS) or supplemented with (on a DM basis) 6.0kg/d of barley grain, 2.1kg/d of rapeseed meal or 6.0kg/d of barley and 2.1kg/d rapeseed meal. Omasal digesta was taken using an omasal sampling system at 1.5h intervals during a 12h feeding cycle, and SNAN fractions (free AA, peptide and soluble protein) in the omasal digesta were assessed using ninhydrin assay. Dietary supplementation numerically increased the mean flow of SNAN fractions relative to GS diet despite the lack of statistical significance. Diurnal patterns in the flow of peptide entering the omasum during a 12h feeding cycle appeared to be highest immediately after feeding, declined by 10.0h post-feeding and slightly increased thereafter. In SNAN fractions, the flow of peptide was higher for supplemented diets than for GS diet throughout the feeding cycle. Based on the microbial contribution to total SNAN using 15N, diurnal patterns in the flow of dietary SNAN for dietary supplemented diets appeared to be higher compared with GS diets. Present results may conclude that peptide flow is quantitatively the most important N in SNAN fractions and that dietary supplementation can increase peptide flow entering the omasal canal.

The effect of different tropical feed sources on rumen ecology, cellulolytic bacteria, feed intake and digestibility of beef cattle was investigated. Four fistulated, castrated male crossbred cattle were randomly allocated to a $4{\times}4$ Latin square design. The treatments were: T1) urea-treated (5%) rice straw (UTS); T2) cassava hay (CH); T3) fresh cassava foliage (FCF); T4) UTS:FCF (1:1 dry matter basis). Animals were fed concentrates at 0.3% of body weight on a DM basis and their respective diets on an ad libitum basis. The experimental period was 21 days. The results revealed that the use of UTS, CH, FCF and UTS:FCF as roughage sources could provide effective fiber and maintain an optimal range of ruminal pH and $NH_3-N$. Total viable and cellulolytic bacterial populations were enhanced (p<0.05) with UTS as the roughage source. Animals fed FCF had a higher rumen propionate production (p<0.05) with a lower cellulolytic bacteria count. Moreover, three predominant cellulolytic bacteria species, namely Fibrobacter succinogenes, Ruminococcus albus and Ruminococcus flavefaciens, were found in all treatment groups. Roughage intake and total DM intake were highest with UTS (2.2 and 2.5% BW, respectively) as the roughage source (p<0.05). Nutrient intake in terms of organic matter intake (OMI) was similar in UTS, CH and UTS:FCF treatments (8.0, 6.8 and 8.7 kg/d, respectively), while crude protein intake (CPI) was enhanced in CH, FCF and UTS:FCF as compared to the UTS treatment (p<0.05). Digestion coefficients of DM and organic matter (OM) were similar among treatments, while the CP digestion coefficients were similar in CH, FCF and UTS:FCF treatments, but were higher (p<0.05) in CH than in UTS. CP and ADF digestible intakes (kg/d) were highest (p<0.05) on the CH and UTS treatments, respectively. It was also observed that feeding FCF as a full-feed resulted in ataxia as well as frequent urination; therefore, FCF should only be fed fresh as part of the feed or be fed wilted. Hence, combined use of FCF and UTS as well as CH and FCF were recommended.
In this study, the effects of granite-grit offered free-choice on voluntary intakes of grit and subsequently on some morphologic traits of the digestive tract and performance of broilers were investigated. A total of 240 7d-old male broiler chicks (Ross 308) were allotted randomly to 10 floor pens supplied with wood shavings. The experiment lasted for 42 days. There were 2 dietary treatments, each consisting of 5 replicates. Each replicate consisted of 24 birds kept in an experimental unit with a floor size of $2{\times}2m$. Dietary treatments consisted of control (C) in which broilers were fed standard broiler rations, and acid insoluble granite-grit choice (AIGG) in which broilers were fed standard broiler rations and grit in separate troughs. Mean amounts consumed varied quite widely from week to week, but on average broilers ate 3.41 g per d per bird during the experimental period. Birds had a higher voluntary intake of granite-grit at an early age (7 to 21 d of age) than later (22 to 42 d of age). The voluntary intake of granite-grit of AIGG broilers increased (p<0.05) from 2.7 g/day at 7-14 d to 4.4 g at 15-21 d of age, and then it decreased to 3.4, 3.2 and 3.4 g/day between 22-28, 29-35 and 36-42 d of age, respectively. This level of grit intake increased (p<0.05) weights of empty gizzard (0.97 vs. 1.30 g), edible inner organs (3.51 vs. 3.69 g), and length of gut (8.86 vs. 9.01 cm) as a proportion of body weight and the content of insoluble ash (8.4 vs. 42.2 g/kg) in the faeces compared to the control group. Feeding free-choice grit had little or no effect on final live weights (2,542 vs. 2,543 g), daily gains (69 vs. 69 g), carcass weights (1,924 vs. 1,911), dressing percentages (75.6% vs. 75.1%) and feed efficiencies (1.69 vs. 1.66). Birds given grit did not gain more weight than those not given grit but they tended to have (p<0.07) lower feed intake (116.7 vs. 114.5 g), and consequently lower protein and energy intake. In conclusion, the granite-grit consumed voluntarily by broilers increased gut length and empty gizzard weight without affecting growth performance of broilers. Thus, it can be assumed that the voluntary consumption of granite-grit was too low to affect performance.
The results on the chemical characteristics of the pork fed with fermented feeds are summarized as follows; 1) The pork treated with fermented feeds had lower fat and higher protein content than control pork in proximate compositions. It is considered to be the improvement of the quality. 2) It was not recognized to the difference of oxidation level among the sample porks. 3) Oleic acid was the highest concentration in the components of fatty acid of pork. The rate of the saturated and unsaturated fatty acids is 38.8 % : 59.9 % in the ordinary meat, 40.8 % : 57.8 % in the a high-grade meat, and 36.3 % : 62.0 % in the pork treated with fermented feeds. In addition, the essential fatty acid content of them is 14 %, 11.2 %, and 16.7%, respectively. 4) Glutamic acid was the highest composition in total amino acids and the essential amino acid content was 39% in both an ordinary meat and the pork treated with fermented feeds, and 14 % in high-grade meat. 5) It was no difference in the inorganic content among the samples. The water holding capacity by extraction meat juice was higher to 92 % in the pork treated with fermented feeds and 15.6 % in a loss in quantity by heating than others. Thus, the pork bred with fermented feeds was evaluated to be good in terms of processing and cooking.

Objectives: TNM staging, especially for lymph node metastasis, is the scoring system most widely used among prognostic factors for cancer survival. Several biomarkers have been studied as serologic markers, but their specificity is low and clinical applications are difficult. This study aimed to establish a scoring system for patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) using platelet (PLT) and mean platelet volume (MPV) levels measured postoperatively and to evaluate their significance as prognostic factors. Materials and Methods: We studied 40 patients admitted to the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of Dankook University Hospital who were diagnosed with primary OSCC histopathologically between May 2006 and May 2012. Clinical pathological information obtained from the medical records of each patient included age, sex, height, weight, tumor location, degree of differentiation, tumor diameter, lymph node metastasis, TNM stage, and other test values including white blood cell, MPV, PLT, C-reactive protein (CRP), and albumin obtained through a test conducted within 7 days before surgery. Count of platelet (COP)-MPV Score: Patients with both PLT and MPV values below the cut-off values were defined as score 0 (group A). Patients with at least one of the two higher than the cut-off value were defined as score 1 (group B). Results: Univariate analyses showed N-metastasis, COP-MPV (A vs B), PLT, platelet-lymphocyte ratio, and CRP were statistically significant prognostic factors. A multivariate Cox proportional hazards model showed N-metastasis (hazard ratio [HR] 6.227, P=0.016) and COP-MPV (A vs B) (HR 18.992, P=0.013) were independent prognostic factors with a significant effect on survival. Conclusion: COP-MPV score is a simple and cost-effective test method and is considered a more effective prognostic factor than other considered factors in predicting the prognosis of OSCC patients.

② 상기 이용제한 규정에 따라 서비스를 이용하는 회원에게 서비스 이용에 대하여 별도 공지 없이 서비스 이용의
일시정지, 이용계약 해지 할 수 있습니다.
제 17 조 (전자우편주소 수집 금지)
회원은 전자우편주소 추출기 등을 이용하여 전자우편주소를 수집 또는 제3자에게 제공할 수 없습니다.
제 6 장 손해배상 및 기타사항
제 18 조 (손해배상)
당 사이트는 무료로 제공되는 서비스와 관련하여 회원에게 어떠한 손해가 발생하더라도 당 사이트가 고의 또는 과실로 인한 손해발생을 제외하고는 이에 대하여 책임을 부담하지 아니합니다.
제 19 조 (관할 법원)
서비스 이용으로 발생한 분쟁에 대해 소송이 제기되는 경우 민사 소송법상의 관할 법원에 제기합니다.

1. (시행일) 이 약관은 2016년 9월 5일부터 적용되며, 종전 약관은 본 약관으로 대체되며, 개정된 약관의 적용일 이전 가입자도 개정된 약관의 적용을 받습니다.
