The sapogenins of two-and four-year-old A-merican ginseng plants (Panax quinquefolium L.) (Araliaceae) collected in July and September were studied. American ginseng saponins (panaquilins) differ from Korean ginseng (Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer) saponins (ginsenosides). The American ginseng saponins separated and named were panaquilins A, B, C, D, E-l, E-2, E-3, G-l, G-2, (c) and (d). One-dimensional thin-layer chromatography did not completely separate panaquilin mixture and were subject to misinterpretation. The panaquilins were more accurately separated and identified by the two-dimensional thin-layer method established. Some differences in American ginseng saponins were dependent upon the plant age, time of collection, and part extracted. The American ginseng sapogenin components are panxadiol (panaquilins B and C), oleanolic acid (panaquilin D) and panaxatriol (panaquilin G-l). The panaquilins E-l, E-2 and E-3 mixture contains both panaxadiol and panaxatriol. The genins of panaquilins A, (c), (d) and G-2 were not identified. In addition, ${\beta}-sitosterol$ and stigmasterol were identified from the root ether extracts.

"Yut Kang Jung" is a kind of Korean traditional cookie. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of various kinds of syrups and cooking methods of Yut Kang Jung. The quality of Yut Kang Jung was evaluated by sensory and Instron machine test. The results is as follows; 1. The Recipe of the best Yut Kang Jung is this: White sesame 120g, sugar syrup 40g, and crude maltose watery 50g are used. Mixing sugar syrup crude maltose watery boiling for 4 min, in temperature $105^{\circ}C$. The sugar density after boiling was 86%. 2. Yut Kang Jung made by sugar syrup and crude watery maltose got the best result in sensory best. 3. Yut Kang Jung made by crude watery maltose got the best result in mechanical test. 4. The comparison between the sensory test & mechanical test were as follow; The hardness in the mechanical test was comparable with hardness & fracturability in the sensory test, and the chewiness in the mechanical test was comparable with flavor, adhesiveness, fractur ability in sensory test.

ESCP Project showed an urban excavation case and introduced design method for case of Soil-Structure behavior in urban excavation. In this case, a retaining structures design to analysis the behavior of retaining wall and adjacent structures in urban excavations was applied by using a Elasto-plastic beam and limit Equilibrium analysis and soil-structure interaction analysis. Reliable design of earth retaining structures and the ground adjacent to braced wall in urban excavation are often difficult due to many variable factors. The ground settlement and the damage of adjacent structures in urban excavation has been an imprtant issue. Therefore, the stability of the adjacent structures must be secured with the excavation support and research on the protection of adjacent structure is necessary.

배양 조건으로 온도는 4, 11, 18, 24, $32^{\circ}C$로 배양하여, $24^{\circ}C$에서 Lipid 내에 약 42.3%의 DHA 최대 수율을 보였으며, 교반속도는 50, 100, 150, 200rpm 으로 실험하여 l00rpm에서 최대수율로 42.1% 올 얻었다. 초기 당농도는 5, 8, 11, 14, 17, 23, 29, 35g/L로 주어 8g/L에서 Lipid 내 DHA 농도가 43.1%로 나타났으며, N/C 비율은 glucose 5 g/L로 고정하여0.1, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 에서 38-40 % 로 거의 일정하게 나타났다.

태양열 온수기로부터 획득한 $50{\sim}60^{\circ}C$의 온수를 이용하여 수온이 낮은 3, 4, 10, 11월은 물론 한 겨울철에도 미꾸리의 최적 성장온도를 유지시켰던 바 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 가. 전장 $4{\sim}5cm$, 체중 $1{\sim}2g$정도의 미꾸리의 최적 성장수온은 $18{\sim}20^{\circ}C$이고 $5{\sim}7cm,\;2{\sim}3g$인 것은 $20{\sim}22^{\circ}C$이고 $7{\sim}9cm,\;4{\sim}6g$인 것은 $22{\sim}24^{\circ}C$의 수온임을 알아냈다. 나. $1{\sim}3g$의 개체는 서서히 성장하나 $4{\sim}8g$의 것은 성장이 빠르고 총개체수의 무게 총량은 1개월간에 약 $30{\sim}50g$ 증가하였다.

Contemporary hotels adopt distinctive designs in order to symbolize themes of various spaces they consist of. This phenomenon shows that the importance of spiritual values reflected through themes of spaces is emphasized as much as those of basic functions and structures of hotels. Above all, a variety of expression methods pervading throughout spaces of guest rooms consist of thematic spaces, visualization of emotions, as well as mixture of artistic genres, ones that are originated from unconsciousness of symbolic theory of C.G. Jung and widely perceived as variations of archetype. Meanings of symbolic expressions derived from the analysis of various hotels can be defined by attributes of local cultures as well as propensities of mythicism, which feature local pride enlightened by natural environments, the spirit of the times, historical events and other transcendental and fantastic topics. These symbolic expressions are metaphysical forms that are made unconsciously and such symbols are far beyond mere historical and cultural signs which require us profound and mature methods to approach. It is pleasing to know that we are living in the modern society in which progresses are being made to better understand minds and metal states of human beings. Given such a circumstantial advantage, researches on meanings of symbolic expressions should not be limited to only those of hotel designs, but also those of religious architectures and museums in which spiritual values are emphasized throughout designs of the spaces they consist of.

Traditional costumes have evolved while reflecting the social, cultural and psychological values of the era. Costumes gain meaning by being worn that also allows their various symbolic meanings to be derived. Costumes worn in festivals by specific societies and organizations have especially apparent symbolism pertaining to their purpose. Most countries have traditional festivals that embody the country's distinct culture, history and traditions. These festivals are acts of consciousness expressing a special meaning of the community. Costumes represent a glimpse of life and culture during a festival period; in addition, the costume's style, color elements and decorations are expressions of community values and a distinct symbolic mechanism. Totemism (a significant element of these festivals) has been passed down for many generations. The current costumes for Totemism are distinct (compared to normal festival costumes) and embody a more symbolic meaning. This study deduces the exaggerated style, the concealment and disguise of the human body, and the pursuit of pleasure expressed in the Totemism costumes of regional European festivals. The symbolization theories of C. G. Jung and an analysis of Totemism costumes allow an understanding of their existential significance, their role as the medium between consciousness and unconsciousness, their meaning of symbolic transcendental unity, and their meaning of giving consciousness to the mind.
