Reverse osmosis concentration for cephalosproin C was studied using a polyamide composite membrane, FT-30 in spiral wound type with high solute rejection. The experiments were carried out in the aqueous solution of cephalosporin C for water flux, solute rejection and mass transfer coefficient under applied pressure of $4{\sim}20kg/cm^2$, feed concentration of 100~1000 mg/L and feed velocity of 2.8 and 5.6 L/min at room temperature. The effect of operating pressure on the separation of cephalosporin C showed that permeate flux increased with increasing operation pressure. These results are consistent with those predicted by Kedem-Katchalsky model. Solute rejection was nearly 1. The increase of feed concentration caused the reduction of cephalosporin C rejection, which was higher at low concentration than at high concentration, but degree of reduction was small.

As climate change gets severe, the ecosystem acts as an important carbon sink, therefore efforts are being made to utilize these functions to mitigate climate change. In this study, we inventoried and analyzed the previous studies related to carbon storage and flux by ecosystem type (forest, cropland, wetland, grassland, and settlement) and carbon pool (aboveground and belowground biomass, dead wood, Litter, soil organic carbon, and ecosystem) in Korean ecosystems. We also collected the results of previous studies and calculated the average value of carbon storage and flux for each ecosystem type and carbon pool. As a result, we found that most (66%) of Korea's carbon storage and fluxes studies were conducted in forests. Based on the results of forest studies, we estimated the storage by carbon stock. We found that much carbon is stored in vegetation (aboveground: 4,018.32 gC m-2 and belowground biomass: 4,095.63 gC m-2) and soil (4,159.43 gC m-2). In particular, a large amount of carbon is stored in the forest understory. For other ecosystem types, it was impossible to determine each carbon pool's storage and flux due to data limitations. However, in the case of soil organic carbon storage, the data for forests and grasslands were comparable, showing that both ecosystems store relatively similar amounts of carbon (4,159.43 gC m-2, 4,023.23 gC m-2, respectively). This study confirms the need to study carbon in rather diverse ecosystem types.

Numerical prediction of nocturnal thermal high in summer of the 1995 near Taegu city located in a basin has been carried out by a non-hydrostatic numerical model over complex terrain through one-way double nesting technique in the Z following coordinate system. Under the prevailing westerly winds, vertical turbulent fluxes of momentum and heat over mountains for daytime hours are quite strong with a large magnitude of more than $120W/\textrm{m}^2$, but a small one of $5W/\textrm{m}^2$ at the surface of the basin. Convective boundary layer (CBL) is developed with a thickness of about 600m over the ground in the lee side of Mt. Hyungje, and extends to the edge of inland at the interface of land sea in the east. Sensible heat flux near the surface of the top of the mountain is $50W/\textrm{m}^2$, but its flux in the basin is almost zero. Convergence of sensible heat flux occurs from the ground surface toward the atmosphere in the lower layer, causing the layer over the mountain to be warmed up, but no convergance of the flux over the basin results from the significant mixing of air within the CBL. As horizontal transport of sensible heat flux from the top of the mountain toward over the basin results in the continuous accumulation of heat with time, enhancing air temperature at the surface of the basin, especially Taegu city to be higher than $39.3^{\circ}C$. Since latent heat fluxes are $270W/\textrm{m}^2$ near the top of the mountain and $300W/\textrm{m}^2$ along the slope of the mountain and the basin, evaporation of water vapor from the surface of the basin is much higher than one from the mountain and then, horizontal transport of latent heat flux is from the basin toward the mountain, showing relative humidity of 65 to 75% over the mountain to be much greater than 50% to 55% in the basin. At night, sensible heat fluxes have negative values of $-120W/\textrm{m}^2$ along the slope near the top of the mountain and $-50W/\textrm{m}^2$ at the surface of the basin, which indicate gain of heat from the lower atmosphere. Nighttime radiative cooling produces a shallow nocturnal surface inversion layer with a thickness of about 100m, which is much lower than common surface inversion layer, and lifts extremely heated air masses for daytime hours, namely, a warm pool of $34^{\circ}C$ to be isolated over the ground surface in the basin. As heat transfer from the warm pool in the lower atmosphere toward the ground of the basin occurs, the air near the surface of the basin does not much cool down, resulting in the persistence of high temperature at night, called nocturnal thermal high or tropical night. High relative humidity of 75% is found at the surface of the basin under the moderate wind, while slightly low relative humidity of 60% is along the eastern slope of the high mountain, due to adiabatic heating by the srong downslope wind. Air temperature near the surface of the basin with high moisture in the evening does not get lower than that during the day and the high temperature produces nocturnal warming situation.
Behavior of permeate flux decline was examined through the hollow fiber membrane in ultrafiltration system for Si colloidal solution. Flux decline with time was due to the growth of Si cake deposited on the membrane surface and the pore blocking by Si particles for the hollow fiber membrane. At the pseudo steady state of operation, the permeate flux of dead-end flow was 60 % to that of the cross flow. The ratio of permeate flux to the pure water flux, $J/J_w$, decreased with increasing the trans-membrane pressure, from 64.2 % for $0.5kg_f/cm^2$ to 45.7 % for $2.0kg_f/cm^2$. When the feed flow rate was 3 L/min, the pore blocking model was dominant at the initial period of filtration and was followed by the cake filtration model. And with increasing the feed flow rate from 1 L/min to 3 L/min, $R_c$ was $1.79{\times}10^{12}{\sim}2.34{\times}10^{12}m^{-1}$ which was the about 40 % decreased value to that of the 1 L/min while $R_p$ was not changed and was $1.71{\times}10^{12}m^{-1}$ approximately.

As transistor density increases rapidly, a heat flux from IC device rises at fast rate. Thermal issues raised by high heat flux cause IC's performance and reliability problems. To solve these thermal management problems, the conventional cooling methods of IC devices were reached their thermal limit. As a result, alternative cooling methods such as liquid heat pipe, thermoelectric cooler, thermal Si via and etc. are currently emerging. In this paper microchannel liquid cooling system with TSV was investigated. The effects of 2 coolants (DI water and ethylene glycol 70 wt%) and 3 metal bumps (Ag, Cu, Cr/Au/Cu) on cooling performance were studied, and the total heat flux of various coolant and bump cases were compared. Surface temperature of liquid cooling system was measured by infrared microscopy, and liquid flowing through microchannel was observed by fluorescence microscope. In the case of ethylene glycol 70 wt% at $200^{\circ}C$ heating temperature, the total heat flux was $2.42W/cm^2$ and most of total heat flux was from liquid cooling effect.
We report growth of epitaxial AlN thin films on c-plane sapphire substrates by plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy. To achieve two-dimensional growth the substrates were nitrided by nitrogen plasma prior to the AlN growth, which resulted in the formation of a two-dimensional single crystalline AlN layer. The formation of the two-dimensional AlN layer by the nitridation process was confirmed by the observation of streaky reflection high energy electron diffraction (RHEED) patterns. The growth of AlN thin films was performed on the nitrided AlN layer by changing the Al beam flux with the fixed nitrogen flux at 860$^{\circ}C$. The growth mode of AlN films was also affected by the beam flux. By increasing the Al beam flux, two-dimensional growth of AlN films was favored, and a very flat surface with a root mean square roughness of 0.196 nm (for the 2 ${\mu}m$${\times}$ 2 ${\mu}m$ area) was obtained. Interestingly, additional diffraction lines were observed for the two-dimensionally grown AlN films, which were probably caused by the Al adlayer, which was similar to a report of Ga adlayer in the two-dimensional growth of GaN. Al droplets were observed in the sample grown with a higher Al beam flux after cooling to room temperature, which resulted from the excessive Al flux.

In this research, in order to improve the heat retention of greenhouse, comparative analysis of the heat flux of the marketed multi-later insulating curtain was carried out. Experiments is conducted by fabricating a test apparatus for investigating the heat flux characteristics. The multi-later insulating curtain used for the experiment was compared using the P, N, S, U and T company, which are commercially available, and the heat flux due to temperature difference between the experimental apparatus and the outside was compared and analyzed. When the internal temperature of the experimental result is the maximum temperature $60^{\circ}C$, the heat flux of multi-later insulating curtain is T Co.($73.1W/m^2$) > S Co.($119.5W/m^2$) > U Co.($155W/m^2$) > N Co.($163.1W/m^2$) > P Co.($177.7W/m^2$). The heat flux means the quantity of heat passing through the unit time per unit area, and the higher the numerical value, the higher the quantity of heat passing through the multi-layer insulating curtain. This can be determined that high heat fluxes produce low heat resistance. Further, it has been found that the weight of the insulating curtain is largely unrelated to the heat insulating property, and the heat insulating curtain having a thickness containing a high internal air layer is excellent in the heat insulating property. In the future when manufacturing a heat insulating curtain, It is judged that it is desirable to manufacture a combination of heat insulating materials that contain a high internal air layer content and that can maintain the air layer even for long-term use while minimizing the volume.
In order to understand the change of surface water temperature in the East China Sea (ECS), this study analyzed the relationship between sea surface temperature (SST), air temperature (AT) and heat flux using satellite and model reanalysis data from 2003 to 2017. SST in the ECS showed the lowest (average : $13.72^{\circ}C$) in March and the highest (average : $28.12^{\circ}C$) in August. AT is highly correlated with SST and shows a similar seasonal change. In August, SST is higher than AT and then continuously higher than AT until winter. To analyze the change of the summer SST in the ECS, we used the SST anomaly value in August to classify the periods with positive (04', 06', 07', 13', 16', 17') and negative (03', 05', 08', 09', 10', 11', 12', 14', 15') values. Spatial similarity between the two periods indicates that SSTs are relatively larger variations in the northern part than in the southern part, and in the western part than in the eastern part in the study area. AT and net heat flux values also show similar changes with SST. However, the periods of the positive SST anomaly have the relatively increasing SST, AT and heat flux values compared to the periods of the negative SST anomaly in the summer season of the ECS. Although the change of SST in the summer season generally well correlates with AT, there were the periods when it was different from general trends between SST and AT (10', 12', 15', 16'). SST in August 2010 and 2012 decreased by $0.5^{\circ}C$ from AT. It suggests that the decreasing SST was considered to be caused by the effects of the typhoon passing through the study area. In August 2015, AT was relatively lower than SST (> $0.5^{\circ}C$), which is might be weakening of the East Asian Summer Monsoon. In August 2016, SST and AT show the highest values during the whole study periods, but SST is higher than AT (> $1^{\circ}C$). From satellite and heat flux data, the variations of SST have been shown to be relatively higher in the area of the expansion Changjiang Diluted Water (CDW) originated from the China coast. More research is needed to analyze this phenomenon, it is believed as not only the effect of rising AT but also the expansion of the low-salinity water.

The interaction of forced convection-conduction with thermal radiation in laminar boundary layer over a plate fin is studied numerically. The analysis is based on complete solution whereby the heat conduction equation for the fin is solved simultaneously with the conservation equations for mass, momentum and energy in the fluid boundary layer adjacent to the fin. The fluid is a gray medium and diffusion(Rosseland) approximation is used to describe the radiative heat flux in the energy equation. The resulting boundary value problem are convection-conduction parameter N$_{c}$ and radiation-conduction parameter m, Prandtl number Pr. Numerical results are presented for gases with the Prandtl numbers of 0.7 & 5 with values of N$_{c}$ and M ranging from 0 to 10 respectively. The object of this study is to provide the first results on forced convection-radiation interaction in boundary layer flow over a semi-infinite flay plate which can be used for comparisons with future studies that will consider a more accurate expression for the radiative heat flux. The agreement of the results from the complete solution presented by E. M. Sparrow and those from this paper for the special case of M=0 is good. The overall rate of heat transfer from the fin considering radiative effect is higher than that from the fin neglecting radiative effect. The local heat transfer coefficient with radiative effect is higher than that without radiative effect. In the direction from tip to base, those coefficients decrease at first, attain minimum, and then increase. The larger values of N$_{c}$ M, Pr give rise to larger fin temperature variations and the fin temperature without radiative effect is always higher than that with radiative effect.
This study examined the impact of change of land-use and meteorological condition due to urbanization on heat environment in Seoul metropolitan area over a decade (2000 and 2009) using Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF)-Urban Canopy Model (UCM). The numerical simulations consist of three sets: meteorological conditions of (1) October 2000 with land-use data in 2000 (base simulation), (2) October 2009 with land-use data in 2000 (meteorological condition change effect) and (3) October 2009 with land-use data in 2009 (both the effects of land-use and meteorological condition change). According to the experiment results, the change of land-use and meteorological condition by urbanization over a decade showed different contribution to the change of heat environment in Seoul metropolitan area. There was about $1^{\circ}C$ increase in near-surface (2 m) temperature over all of the analyzed stations due to meteorological condition change. In stations where the land-use type changed into urban, large temperature increase at nighttime was observed by combined effects of meteorological condition and land-use changes (maximum $4.23^{\circ}C$). Urban heat island (UHI) over $3^{\circ}C$ (temperature difference between Seoul and Okcheon) increased 5.24% due to the meteorological condition change and 26.61% due to the land-use change. That is, land-use change turned out to be contributing to the strengthening of UHI more than the meteorological condition change. Moreover, the land-use change plays a major role in the increase of sensible heat flux and decrease of latent heat flux.
