A New SoC Platform with an Application-Specific PLD (전용 PLD를 가진 새로운 SoC 플랫폼)

  • SoC which deploys software modules as well as hardware IPs on a single chip is a major revolution taking place in the implementation of a system design, and high-level synthesis is an important process of SoC design methodology. Recently, SPARK parallelizing high-level synthesis software tool has been developed. It takes a behavioral ANSI-C code as an input, schedules it using code motion and various code transformations, and then finally generates synthesizable RTL VHDL code. Although SPARK employs various loop transformation algorithms, the synthesis results generated by SPARK are not acceptable for basic signal and image processing algorithms with nested loop. In this paper we propose a SoC platform with an application-specific PLD targeting local operations which are feature of many loop algorithms used in signal and image processing, and demonstrate design process which maps behavioral specification with nested loops written in a high-level language (ANSI-C) onto 2D systolic array. Finally the derived systolic array is implemented on the proposed application-specific PLD of SoC platform.

Automatic C Source Code Generation Technique for DirectShow Programming (DirectShow 프로그래밍을 위한 C 소스 코드 자동 생성 기법)

  • In this paper, we present an automatic C source code generation system for DirectShow based multimedia application programming. In this system, C source code is automatically synthesized from the filter connection graph edited with GraphEdit, a utility tool provided with DirectShow SDK package from Microsoft. In traditional DirectShow programming environments, program design and brief testing steps are usually done with GraphEdit tool just by inserting filters and connecting them properly, while actual implementation of the program should be done separately. The filter connection graph information from GraphEdit is used just as a reference in such the implementation step. Therefore, our system which automatically generates C source code directly from the filter connection graph of GraphEdit seems very useful and many programmers can develop DirectShow based multimedia application programs more effectively and quickly using our system. In addition, our system supports more various media stream control functions for the generated application programs than the existing system such as Wizard which supports limited and fixed number of media control functions only. This feature allows more flexibility in the user interface of the generated source program and makes our system more practical for DirectShow based programming.

  • To develop experts capable of responding to cyber security incidents, numerous institutions have established cyber training facilities to cultivate security professionals equipped with effective defense strategies. However, these challenges such as limited resources, scenario-based content development, and cost constraints. To address these issues, this paper proposes a virtual infrastructure variation generation framework. It provides customized, diverse IT infrastructure environments for each organization, allowing cyber defense trainers to accumulate a wide range of experiences. By leveraging Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) containers and employing Word2Vec, a natural language processing model, mutable code elements are extracted and trained, enabling the generation of new code and presenting novel container environments.

  • In CDMA, the currently used PN code acquisition methods detect the phase of the incoming PN signal on the basis of ML estimation. In serial search strategy, it takes relatively long time for PN code acquisition. A study related to reduce processing time of PN code acquisition is important. Therefore we propose a reference code design for a new algorithm that a reference code and the received PN code are fully correlated to detect the transmitted PN code, in detail, the relative phase offset j of c⒡. After choosing two weight factors, we show the mathematical analysis and derivation for the reference code design.

CRC-Turbo Concatenated Code for Hybrid ARQ System

  • The cyclic redundancy check(CRC) code used to decide retransmission request in hybrid automatic repeat request(HRAQ) system can also be used to stop iterative decoding of turbo code if it is used as an error correcting code(ECC) of HARQ system. Thus a scheme to use CRC code for both iteration stop and repeat request in the HARQ system with turbo code based on the standard of cdma 2000 system is proposed in this paper. At first, the optimum CRC code which has the minimum length without performance degradation due to undetected errors is found. And the most appropriate turbo encoder structure is also suggested. As results, it is shown that at least 32-bit CRC code should be used and a turbo code with 3 constituent encoders is considered to be the most appropriate one.

  • A number of different techniques are available to mitigate the problem of cross correlations caused by the limited dynamic range of the 10-bit Gold codes in the GPS C/A code. These techniques include successive-interference cancellation (SIC) and parallel-interference cancellation (PIC), where the strong signals are subtracted at IF prior to attempting to detect the weak signals. In this paper, a variation of these techniques is proposed whereby the subtraction process is delayed until after the correlation process, although still employing a pure reconstructed C/A code signal to permit prediction of the cross correlation process. The paper provides details on the method as well as showing the results obtained when the method was implemented using a software GPS receiver. The benefits of this approach are also described, as is the application of the method to the cancellation of CW interference.

  • 본 연구에서는 Simulink Model(이하 Model)을 C Code 로 변환시켜주는 자동 코드 생성기, SimAutoCodeGenerator 를 제안하였다. Model 의 테스트케이스를 생성하기 위한 작업에서 반복적인 프로그램의 실행을 통한 테스터와의 다양한 피드백이 필요하다. 이때, Simulink는 이런 작업을 하는 데 있어서 적절한 정보를 제공하기 어려울 뿐만 아니라 테스트 케이스를 생성하는데 필요한, 실행 시 특정 시점으로 돌아가는 기능을 수행하기 위해서는 프로그램을 정지한 후 다시 실행해야하는 문제점을 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이와같은 단점을 보완하기 위하여 Model 을 C 코드로 변환하였다. 생성된 C 코드는 Model 과의 일치성을 증명한 후 자동 테스트케이스 생성을 위한 프로그램에 쓰이게 될 것이다. 먼저 C 코드의 생성 메커니즘을 알아보고 생성된 C 코드와 Model 의 일치성을 증명하였다.

A design and implementation of VHDL-to-C mapping in the VHDL compiler back-end (VHDL 컴파일러 후반부의 VHDL-to-C 사상에 관한 설계 및 구현)

  • In this paper, a design and implementation of VHDL-to-C mapping in the VHDL compiler back-end is described. The analyzed data in an intermediate format(IF), produced by the compiler front-end, is transformed into a C-code model of VHDL semantics by the VHDL-to-C mapper. The C-code model for VHDL semantics is based on a functional template, including declaration, elaboration, initialization and execution parts. The mapping is carried out by utilizing C mapping templates of 129 types classified by mapping units and functional semantics, and iterative algorithms, which are combined with terminal information, to produce C codes. In order to generate the C program, the C codes are output to the functional template either directly or by combining the higher mapping result with intermediate mapping codes in the data queue. In experiments, it is shown that the VHDL-to-C mapper could completely deal with the VHDL analyzed programs from the compiler front-end, which deal with about 96% of major VHDL syntactic programs in the Validation Suite. As for the performance, it is found that the code size of VHDL-to-C is less than that of interpreter and worse than direct code compiler of which generated code is increased more rapidly with the size of VHDL design, and that the VHDL-to-C timing overhead is needed to be improved by the optimized implementation of mapping mechanism.

  • With the increase of interest in ubiquitous computing, image code is attracting attention in various areas. Image code is important in ubiquitous computing in that it can complement or replace RFID (radio frequency identification) in quite a few areas as well as it is more economical. However, because of the difficulty in reading precise colors due to the severe distortion of colors, its application is quite restricted by far. In this paper, we present an efficient method of image code recognition including automatically locating the image code using the hue and saturation values. In our experiments, we use an image code whose design seems most practical among currently commercialized ones. This image code uses six safe colors, i.e., R, G, B, C, M, and Y. We tested for 72 true-color field images with the size of $2464{\times}1632$ pixels. With the color calibration based on the histogram, the localization accuracy was about 96%, and the accuracy of color classification for localized codes was about 91.28%. It took approximately 5 seconds to locate and recognize the image code on a PC with 2 GHz P4 CPU.

  • The sensor network is highlighted because it is one of the essentialbase networks in the ubiquitous computing realization. Researches for providing security and efficiency are being perfomed in the various isuues because of the characteristics of sensor nodes and sensor networks. Recently, code dissemination mechanism is recognized as an important research issue since sensor nodes are in the need of updating new software or the need of modifying bugs in dynamically. Generally lots of nodes are in the sensor networks and they are ramdomly deployed in hostile environments. Thus it is especially important that the code dissemination from the base station to nodes should be processed efficienctly and securely. In this paper, we check up the recent existing code dissemination mechanisms, and comparatively analyze the requirements of the code dissemination and the characteristicsof existing mechanisms. Through the analysis, we present future research issues for the code dissemination area. This research can expedite the research on the code dissemination and improve the usability of sensor networks with efficiency and security.
