Value Chain Analysis of Geospatial Web Service for VGI Application (사용자 참여형 공간정보 웹서비스의 가치사슬분석)

  • The fact that the limits of information recency, diversity, and usability are mainly caused by the supply oriented geospatial data and service development is commonly recognized. It is recently tried to overcome the limits by facilitating user experience and VGI(Volunteered Geographic Information) in several geospatial web services. This study suggests 10C framework of geospatial web service for VGI through review and examination of previous research. Based on the 10C framework, the value chain system of 23 use cases relevant to the geospatial web service involving the creation of user's VGI is investigated. The result of the value chain analysis is applied to examine and formulate the strategies to generate value addition from public spatial information with respect to creation, aggregation, delivery, and consumption process of VGI.

Frame Synchronization for Mobile WiMAX Femtocells Using IEEE802.11 Based Wireless Backhaul (IEEE 802.11 기반의 무선 백홀을 사용하는 Mobile WiMAX 펨토셀을 위한 프레임 동기화 기법)

  • The use of femtocells in buildings and homes has been widely studied as a means to enlarge the cell coverage and increase the network capacity of mobile communication systems. Femtocells for Mobile WiMAX (M-WiMAX) using time division duplexing (TDD) requires frame synchronization with neighboring base stations to avoid interference between uplink and downlink signals. In this paper, we propose a new frame synchronization method for femtocell using IEEE 802.11 based wireless backhaul, which transfers the time information of mobile network to femtocells via the beacon signal provided by IEEE 802.11. Also, in order to reduce timing error of the proposed method, we modify the collision avoidance scheme in the transmitter of IEEE 802.11 and apply a timing estimation technique designed in the sense of least squares to the receiver of IEEE 802.11. Through computer simulations using the proposed scheme, we evaluate the performance of frame synchronization for femtocells and show that the recovered timing information satisfies the timing specification defined by M-WiMAX standard.

  • In this paper, we propose a new method with the improved continuity performance of overlap and add speech signal synthesis method using damping harmonic amplitude parameter. The existing method uses the average value of past and current parameters for the sinusoidal amplitude used as the weight of phase error function. But, the proposed method extracts the more accurate sinusoidal amplitude by using a correlation between the original signals and the synthesized signals for the sinusodal amplitude used as the weights. To verify the performance of the proposed method, we observed the average differential error value between the synthesized signals.

Adaptive Rate Control in Unit-level for Real-time H.264/AVC (실시간 H.264/AVC를 위한 적응적인 Unit-level 비트율 제어 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose an adaptive rate control in Unit-level for real-time H.264/AVC. For given QP, bits according to video characteristics, and current frame is close correlation between the adjacent frames. Using the statistical characteristic, we obtain change of occurrence bit about QP to apply the bit amount by QP from the video characteristic and applied in the estimated bit amount of the each unit of current frame. In addition, we use weight with QP and occurrence bit amount that is statistical information of encoded previous frames. Simulation results show that the proposed rate control scheme achieves time saving of more than 99% over JM 12.1 rate control algorithm. Nevertheless, PSNR and bit rate were almost same as the performances of JM.

Distributed Video Coding based on Adaptive Block Quantization Using Received Motion Vectors (수신된 움직임 벡터를 이용한 적응적 블록 양자화 기반 분산 비디오 코딩 방법)

  • In this paper, we propose an adaptive block quantization method. The propose method perfrect reconstructs side information without high complexity in the encoder side, as transmitting motion vectors from a decoder to an encoder side. Also, at the encoder side, residual signals between reconstructed side information and original frame are adaptively quantized to minimize parity bits to be transmitted to the decoder. The proposed method can effectively allocate bits based on bit error rate of side information. Also, we can achieved bit-saving by transmission of parity bits based on the error correction ability of the LDPC channel decoder, because we can know bit error rate and positions of error bit in encoder side. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm achieves bit-saving by around 66% and delay of feedback channel, compared with the convntional algorithm.

Adaptive Frame Rate Up-Conversion Algorithm using the Neighbouring Pixel Information and Bilateral Motion Estimation (이웃하는 블록 정보와 양방향 움직임 예측을 이용한 적응적 프레임 보간 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose a new Frame Rate Up-Conversion (FRUC) scheme to increase the frame rate from a lower number into a higher one and enhance the decoded video quality at the decoder. The proposed algorithm utilizes the preliminary frames of forward and backward direction using bilateral prediction. In the process of the preliminary frames, an additional interpolation is performed for the occlusion area because if the calculated value of the block with reference frame if larger than the predetermine thresholdn the block is selected as the occlusion area. In order to interpolate the occlusion area, we perform re-search to obtain the osiomal block considerhe osiomnumber of available ne block consblock. The experimental results show that performance of the proposed algorithm has better PSNR and visual quality than the conventional methods.

A Macroblock-Layer Rate Control with Adaptive Quantization Parameter Decision and Header Bits Length Estimation (적응적 양자화 파라미터 결정과 헤더 비트량 예측을 통한 매크로블록 단위 비트율 제어)

  • A macroblock layer rate control for H.264/AVC has the problem that allocated target bits for current frame occasionally are exhausted too fast due to inadequate quantization parameter assignment. In this case, the maximum permissible quantization parameter is used to encode for remaining macroblocks and it leads to degradation of the visual quality. In addition, the header bits length estimation algorithm used for quantization parameter assignment takes the average header bits length for the encoded macroblocks of the previous frame and the current frame. Therefore, it generates a big mismatch between the actually generated header bits length and the estimated header bits length. In this paper, we propose adaptive quantization parameter decision method to prevent early exhausting target bits during encoding the current frame by considering the number of macroblocks that have negative targets bits in previous frame and the improved header bits length estimation scheme for accurate quantization parameter decision.

  • This paper describes a research work of developing computer-aided design of lead frame, semiconductor, with blanking operation which is very precise for progressive working. Approach to the system is based on the knowledge-based rules. Knowledge for the system is formulated from plasticity theories, experimental results and the empirical knowledge of field experts. This system has been written in AutoLISP on the AutoCAD using a personal computer and in I-DEAS Drafting Programming Language on the I-DEAS Master Series Drafting with Workstation, HP9000/715(64) and tool kit on the ESPRIT. Transference of data among AutoCAD, I-DEAS Master Series Drafting, and ESPRIT is accomplished by DXF(drawing exchange format) and IGES(initial graphics exchange specification) methods. This system is composed of six modules, which are input and shape treatment, production feasibility check, strip-layout, die-layout, modelling, and post-processor modules. The system can design process planning and Die design considering several factors and generate NC data automatically according to drawings of die-layout module. As forming process of high precision product and die design system using 2-D geometry recognition are integrated with technology of process planning, die design, and CAE analysis, standardization of die part in die design and process planning of high pression product for semiconductor lead frame is possible to set. Results carried out in each module will provide efficiencies to the designer and the manufacturer of lead frame, semiconductor.

An Efficient Transmission Plan for Adaptable Bandwidth Allocation Technique (적응형 대역폭 할당 방법을 위한 효율적인 전송 계획)

  • In the adaptable bandwidth allocation technique, a transmission plan for variable rate video data is made by the CBA algorithm and the data is transmitted by considering network traffic. But the CBA algorithm produces a transmission plan where the size of the increasing interval of transmission rate is generally larger than the size of the decreasing interval. And the transmission rate in CBA algorithm is changed in overflow curve during the increasing interval of transmission rate. This ぉy cause many frames to be discarded when available transmission rate is small. In this paper, a smoothing algorithm is proposed, where transmission rate is changed in the middle of underflow curve and overflow curve, but the transmission rate increases at the minimum. In order to show the performance, the proposed algorithm and a CBA algorithm were applied to a transmission plan in the adaptable bandwidth allocation technique, and the minimum frame rates, the average frame rates, the variation of frame rates, and the numbers of discarded frames were compared in both algorithms.

An Efficient Authentication Protocol Using Single Bit Synchronization for Wireless LAN Environment (단일 Bit 동기화를 이용한 무선 LAN 환경에서의 효율적인 인증 프로토콜)

  • Today, wireless LANs are widely deployed in various places such as corporate office conference rooms, industrial warehouses, Internet-ready classrooms, etc. However, new concerns have been raised regarding suity. Currently, both virtual private network(VPN) and WEP are used together as a strong authentication mechanism. While security is increased by using VPN and WEP together, unnecessary redundancy occurs causing power consumption increase and authentication speed decrease in the authentication process. In this paper a new synchronization protocol for authentication is proposed which allows simple authentication, minimal power consumption at the mobile station, and high utilization of authentication stream. This is achieved by using one bit per a frame authentication, while main authentication process including synchronization is handled by access points. Computer simulation reveals that the proposed scheme significantly improves the authentication efficiency in terms of the number of authenticated frames and authentication speed compared with an earlier protocol employing a similar authentication approach.
