Microdegree Cource Design for Game Programming (게임프로그래밍을 위한 마이크로디그리 교육과정 설계)

  • 본 논문에서는 게임프로그래밍을 위한 마이크로디그리 교육과정을 제안하였다. 마이크로디그리는 특정 분야에서 특정 기술이나 지식을 제공하기 위해 설계된 단기과정의 집중 교육프로그램이다. 본 논문에서는 마이크로디그리 교육과정 운영 사례로 나노디그리로 유명한 온라인교육플랫폼 회사인 Udacity와 해외 대학 중 온라인/오프라인 학위과정뿐만 아니라 Certificate 과정을 체계적으로 운영하고 있는 Full Sail University, 국내 대학 중 소프트웨어 관련 마이크로디그리를 운영하는 경희대학교의 교육과정을 분석하였다. 분석결과 Udacity는 데이터분석, 프로그래밍, 인공지능, 클라우드컴퓨팅 등을 중심으로 교육과정이 운영되고 있다. Full Sail 대학의 게임관련 Certificate 교육과정으로는 Game Business & Esports이 운영되고 있고, 게임프로그래밍을 위한 단기교육과정이 없음을 확인하였다. 경희대학 마이크로디그리 교육과정 중 게임과련 교육과정은 "게임공학마이크로디그리" 교육과정 있다. 이 교육과정은 게임프로그래밍과 관련한 마이크로디그리 교육과정이지만 수강생들의 수준을 고려하지 않은 측면이 있어 비전공자나 초보자가 이수하기에는 한계가 있다고 판단된다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 사례 분석을 통해 게임프로그래밍을 위한 마이크로디그리 교육과정을 설계 제안하였다.

An Exploratory Study for Investigating Loyalty in On-line Games : Focus on Interactivity and the Sense of Presence (온라인 게임의 애호도에 관한 실증적 연구: 상호작용성과 현존감을 중심으로)

The popularity of online games can be attributed to the availability of broadband network and the presence of numerous PC Bangs and around the country, which have pushed online games Into the main-stream entertainment culture. The age distribution of online game players is expanding and a variety of new games are under development to target certain age groups. While the interactive entertainment market continues to expand, with many new online game publishers entering the market, relatively little is known about which factors influence online game players' behavioral intentions to play continuously in this area. It appears that in this extremely attractive and growing services segment, academics, as well as practitioners, would benefit from in vestigating the relationships among the players' loyalty, interactivity, the sense of presence and the impacts of several other key game-related constructs. Several types of interaction in on-line games and their relationship with the flow construct are investigated, and the resulting conceptual model is proposed. Based on data collected from online questionnaire survey, the validity of the simultaneous equation model has been tested and interesting conclusions have been developed concerning the relationships between the players' loyalty to the sense of presence, flow, satisfaction and interactions. Other interesting results concerning game development strategy are also provided.

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze the factors effecting users' satisfaction on game AI for early AI diffusion. For this purpose, we interviewed 20 users who had experiences playing Blade&Soul, made by NCsoft. Interview data had been analyzed through the Semantic Network Analysis program to identify key subject words and their relations. As a result, the paper has found keywords such as patterns, contents, variety, system, and getting new users as factors effecting users satisfaction on game AI.

  • Despite a great performance of Korean online game in Chinese online game market, Korean companies were faced with decreasing market positions in China from 2006. To overcome this problem, I will suggest a research model about determinant of repurchase behavior of on-line game user and moderation effect of online review. Data collected from questionnaire survey were used in empirical analysis on research hypothesis through moderated multiple regression method. There are several conclusions as such; first, perceived value and loyalty of consumer have great positive relationships with repurchase behavior. Second, online review has positive direct influence on repurchase behavior and moderation effect of relationships among them. Third, game company has great efforts to develop online games and game contents which were guaranteed before in price, quality, information, and accurate consideration of online review.

  • In 21 century, Game industry became one field of the cultural content industries. Also, It is one of the most important technologies as a Multimedia, 3-D sound, virtual reality field, and character industry and its scale and effect are getting big. But Korea still lags behind America and Japan in developing game. For that, many support business progressed. However, Special importance〔emphasis〕 is attached to the developing of software engines. In the mean time, The game market of children(under 8) is the biggest one, which form over 30% of all the markets in the PC game market of America. The Children's game, which has both entertaining and educating, is a content-concerned industry. So with a short period of the developing time, they make a high value added. In this paper, 1 study the existing computer games and propose for game contents and the game factor's abstraction suited to the character by kid age. It is concluded that 'Asports', 'Asim,' 'U.J RPG', 'S+RPG' are beneficial to the child growth on each stage, through serveys analysis of protocol, and research of the cjaracters of the growth on the each age.

Based on data collected from online questionnaire survey, the differences between hardcore and casual players have been analyzed, and interesting conclusions have been provided concerning the online-game design and development strategies for Japan online-game players.

  • Online game business has emerged as the most lucrative entertainment industry, with over 10 million players in South Korea and over 30million in Japan in 2005. While the interactive entertainment market continues to expand, with many new online game publishers entering the market, relatively little theory has been developed about which factors influence online gamers' behavioral intentions (i.e., loyalty, satisfaction, words of mouth, etc.) in this area. The purpose of this research is to investigate the relationships among the gamers' satisfaction, trust toward game publishers, the role of online game community, social reputation, and the managerial support of game publishers. We also examine the differences between Korean and Japanese gamers concerning the relationships of these key success factors. The structural model is tested with the data from entire data samples (i.e., Korean and Japanese gamers pooled together) and each of the sub-samples (i.e., Korean and Japanese gamers taken separately). Properties of the causal paths, including standardized path coefficients, the significance of difference, and variance explained for Trust and Satisfaction in the hypothesized model, are presented. Following the model test, we conduct a test of the differences in path coefficients between Korean and Japanese gamers. Statistical results show that, compared to Japanese gamers, Korean gamers had a greater salient effect on Social Reputation in determining. Trust, in addition to placing a greater emphasis on Support of Game Publishers in determining Social Reputation. Other interesting results concerning game Publishers' strategy are also presented.

  • The concept, means, value chain, the persons concerned and possible issues of game item trading in cash are analyzed in this study. The trading is characterized by not only being performed with its own unique business model but also causing issues related to delicate social problems, such as digital contents distribution, work place and gambling. The way of game item trading in cash and its value chain have been changed with game market growth for the past years. I analyzed in this article the new concept of game item trading in cash that is different from the past. Also, analysis on several issues related to game item trading in cash is conducted.
