Transmission Combining Arbiter for Reducing Bus Conflicts (버스충돌 감소를 위한 결합전송 아비터 구조)

  • 제안하는 arbiter 구조는 AMBA AHB Protocol에서 사용하는 표준 arbiter 를 개선하여, master device들간의 버스 사용에 따른 bus conflict 를 감소시킨 구조이다. 제안하는 arbiter 구조는 인접한 주소를 참조하는 master device 들의 전송을 버스의 대역폭 내에서 한 번에 전송함으로써 버스 전송 횟수 및 데이터 전송량을 감소시킨다. 실험결과, 제안하는 arbiter 구조는 기존의 arbiter 구조에 비해 최대 89%의 전송량이 감소하였다.

  • Recently, NMEA2000 became the de facto standard of the communication protocol for the instrument level network in vessels, and it is anticipated that most of the vessels will be equipped with the sensors and actuators based on this protocol. The conventional serial communication specifications such as RS-232, RS-485, or even NMEA0183 are single-talker/multiple-listener and interconnection among multiple sensors and/or actuators usually results in a bundle of wires. On the other hand, NMEA2000 is a true bus type(multiple-talker/multiple-listener) protocol and theoretically up to 256 instruments can be hot-plugged. With the advent of the protocol, it is necessary to consider a new type of monitoring system for the instruments in vessels: In most traditional serial communication environments, a dedicated monitor or user interface was necessary for each sensor or actuator as it was simply not easy to collect data in a single place. With NMEA2000, the collection of various types of information is simple. An embedded system can be employed to combine, to arrange and to display informations from various types of devices. Assuming that the actuators and sensors on a vessel are interconnected by NMEA2000 standard, we devise a tentative interactive vessel monitoring system in which the following 4 kinds of informations are collected and delivered: the navigation, engine, weather and tanks informations.

  • USB(Universal Serial Bus) is one of the most popular communication interfaces. When USB is used in an extended range, especially configurating In-home network by connecting multiple digital devices each other, USB interface uses the bandwidth in the way of TDM(Time Division Multiplexing) so that the bottleneck of bus bandwidth can be brought. In this paper, the more effective usage of bus bandwidth to overcome this situation is introduced. Basically, in order to realize the system for transferring realtime moving picture data among digital information devices, we analyze USB transfer types and Descriptors and introduce the method to upgrade detailed performance of Isochronous transfer that is one of USB transfer types. In the case that Configuration descriptor of a device has Interface descriptor that has two AlternateSetting, if Isochronous transfers are not processed smoothly due to excessive bus traffic, the application of the device changes AlternateSetting of the Interface descriptor and requires a new configuration by SetInterface() request. As a result of this adaptive configuration, the least data frame rate is guaranteed to a device that the sufficient bandwidth is not alloted. And if the bus traffic is normal, the algorithm to return to the original AlteranteSetting is introduced. this introduced method resolve the bottleneck of moving picture transfer that can occur in home network connected by multiple digital devices.

  • Small satellites can be used for various space research and scientific or educational purposes due to advantages in small size, low-cost, and rapid development. Small Satellites have many advantages of application to Responsive Space. Compared to traditional larger satellites, however, Small satellites have many constraints due to limitations in size. Therefore, it is difficult to expect high performance. To approach maximum capability with minimal size, weight, and cost, standard modular platform of Small satellites is necessary. Modularity supports plug-and-play architecture. The result is Small satellites that can be combined quickly and reliably using plug-and-play mechanisms. For communication between modules, standard bus interface is needed. Controller Area Network(CAN) protocol is considered optimum data bus for modular Small satellite. CAN can be applied to data communication with high reliability. Hence, design optimization and simplification can also be expected. For ease of assembly and integration, modular design can be considered. This paper proposes development method for standardized modular Small satellites, and describes design of data interface based on CAN and a method of testing for modularity.

  • This paper describes ASIC design of multimedia SoC Platform. The implemented Platform consists of 32-bit OpenRISC1200 Microprocessor, WISHBONE on-chip bus, VGA Controller, Debug Interface, SRAM Interface and UART. The 32-bit OpenRISC1200 processor has 5 stage pipeline and Harvard architecture with separated instruction/data bus. The VGA Controller can display RCB data on a CRT or LCD monitor. The Debug Interface supports a debugging function for the Platform. The SRAM Interface supports 18-bit address bus and 32-bit data bus. The UART provides RS232 protocol, which supports serial communication function. The Platform is design and verified on a Xilinx VERTEX-4 XC4VLX80 FPGA board. Test code is generated by a cross compiler' and JTAG utility software and gdb are used to download the test code to the FPGA board through parallel cable. Finally, the Platform is implemented into a single ASIC chip using Chatered 0.18um process and it can operate at 100MHz clock frequency.

  • 최근 임베디드 시스템 설계에서 저전력 소모와 SoC가 주된 관심사가 되면서, ARM 프로세서와 AMBA 버스가 각광을 받고 있다. AMBA 버스가 고속 모듈에 대해서는 장점을 지니지만. 저속 모듈과의 인터페이스에는 많은 제약이 따른다. 따라서 속도가 서로 다른 이종 모듈간에 속도 보상을 위한 bridge 가 필요하다. 이러한 용도로 APB bridge가 표준으로 자리 매김하고 있지만, 속도가 고정되어 있기 때문에 융통성이 배제된다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 단정을 보완하기 위해, 구조가 간단하고 구현이 쉬운 ISA 방식의 bridge를 제안하여, 많은 주변장치들을 손쉽게 AHB Slave로 인터페이스 할 수 있게 만든다.

  • The network service have been achieved recently in the vehicle train, bus etc. Network portability have been processed so that it is active around NEMO WG (Network Mobility Working Group)of IETF. We organize NEMO in the railroad environment of the route among the masses traffic mean which has the forecasting. We try to present necessary for a portability network protocol to produce CoA rather efficiently.

  • In this paper, the Mini-MAP network interface units are implemented for the IBM PC, general purpose, PLC, and robot respectively. The token bus controller, MC68824 is used to realize the IEEE 802.4. A protocol for the message exchanges between some automated devices called MMS is implemented where 76 services of total 86 MMS services are included.

  • A protocol on transferring informations between IBM-PC/AT and STC(self tuning controller) by using the RS-485 bus is suggested. The operating algorithm is designed so that the host computer monitors the status of STC, and can be updating parameters depending on the environmental conditions for the various oprating mode.

  • Real-time communication network is important for KTX high speed train system because small problem can make a huge accident. Communication network for KTX high speed train system consists of IEEE 802.4 token bus network and FM0 encoding. The network device is developed by using MC68824 TBC, MC68185 TPM and MC68020 MPU. The network device make available to analysis of the network protocol among vehicles for Kyung-Boo high-speed train system.
