A Study on the Improving Effectiveness of Shipboard Electric Propulsion System with Ultra-capacitor Energy Storage Devices (울트라 캐패시터 에너지 저장장치를 적용한 함정 전기추진 시스템의 효용성 증대 연구)

  • Recently, integrated electric propulsion system has been vigorously adopted into naval vessels. To enhance effectiveness and efficiency of power management in these propulsion systems, this paper investigates necessity of energy storage devices and their operation strategies. By introducing the energy storage devices, engine can operate at higher efficiency point and accordingly costs for fuel and maintenance are significantly reduced. In addition, transient performance can also be improved with support of the devices and it leads to stable operation of shipboard power bus. To validate the proposal of this paper, computer simulation has been conducted with real load data of existing electric propulsion system.

  • The B-coefficient method is well-known and universally used method for its simplicity and computation speed. However, the B-coefficient method has a weak point of accuracy when it is applied to the ill-conditioned systems where generators produce excessive reactive power. This paper describes the developed module to be applied to commercial program package of calculating the penalty factors by Jacobian method. The effectiveness of the proposed program has been demonstrated using the IEEE 30 bus system.

  • Prepare need in each branch for a large scale event. especially prepare for transportation problem is very important. most research for until at now parking prepare according city management however, parking prepare for large event is a necessity which it will parking characteristic. accordingly this research is conducted study for parking prepare subject of large event. this study result, vehicle demand for parking by stadium have many but vehicle demand for parking off stadium have few. accordingly large parking supply is ineffective. shuttle bus service in principal position of city is effective. study result showed that it included 85% parking at 6~7hour before large event start time. accordingly disposition time of parking manager is desirable 6~7hour before large event start time.

  • In this Paper, an improved protocol is proposed by supplementing a control station for transmission cycle management. This protocol is proposed to complement the shortcomings of the conventional L-Expressnet protocol which is used for round robin process in bus topology. We analyzed the improved protocol in channel utilization viewpoint and compared the result with that of the conventional protocol. From this result, we showed that the channel utilization of the improved protocol is superior to that of the conventional protocol when a maximum normalized propagation delay is increased.

  • This paper describes the design and FPGA implementation of a system control unit within a multiprocessor chip which can be used as a node processor ina massively parallel processing (MPP) caches, memory management units, a bus unit and a system control unit. Major functions of the system control unit are locking/unlocking of the shared variables of protected access, synchronization of instruction execution among four integer untis, control of interrupts, generation control of processor's status, etc. The system control unit was modeled in very high level using verilog HDL. Then, it was simulated and verified in an environment where trap handler and external interrupt controller were added. Functional blocks of the system control unit were changed into RTL(register transfer level) model and synthesized using xilinx FPGA cell library in synopsys tool. The synthesized system control unit was implemented by Xilinx FPGA chip (XC4025EPG299) after timing verification.

  • This paper studies on effective rescheduling of generation when the single line contingency has occurred in power system with wind farm. The suggested method is formulated to minimize the rescheduling cost of conventional and wind generators to alleviate congestion. The generator rescheduling method has been used with incorporation of wind farms in the power system. Since all sensitivity is different about congestion line, Line Outage Distribution Factor(LODF) and Generator Sensitivity Factor(GSF) is used to alleviate congestion. The formulation have been proccessed using linear programming(LP) optimization techniques to alleviate transmission congestion. The effectiveness of the proposed rescheduling of generation method has been analyzed on revised IEEE 30-bus systems.

  • In this study, the design and operating strategy of DC home grid with PV, battery, and ultracapacitor have been discussed, The proposed sizing method can find the optimum size of the battery and PV which can reduce yearly utility energy consumption, whereas the control scheme can maintain the DC-bus voltage level of the DC home grid under different operating conditions, where day or night time operation, load and PV power levels, and the maximum current and state-of-charge of batter are considered. In addition, a supervisory power management strategy has been suggested, and its validity has been verified by HILS (hardware in-the-loop simulation) results.

  • This paper describes the communication system of sequencing sorter. Generally sequencing sorter is a machine that sorts mails by delivery order. And designed sequencing sorter is composed of 5 physical modules. So, it is necessary to communicate with each module and to control this communication. A computer called Machine Management Computer, controls this. This paper is about the communication system with MMC and module controllers. This is PC-based, asynchronous full-duplex 4-wire serial systems. 3 protocol layers are presented and stop-and-wait flow control is adopted. Because designed sequencing sorter has to be operated high speed about 27,000 letters per hour, we analyzed the network traffic in the worst case. So, we could find that the communication system has to use above 115,200bps speed.

  • The salient features of UWB(Ultra WideBand) networks such as high-rate communications, low interference with other radio systems, and low power consumption bring many benefits to users, thus enabling several new applications such as wireless universal serial bus (WUSB) for connecting personal computers (PCs) to their peripherals and the consumer-electronics (CE) in people's living rooms. Because the size of multimedia data frame, WiMedia device must transmit the fragment of MSDU. However, when the fragment of MSDU is lost, WiMedia device maintains active mode for the time to complete the transmission MSDU, and there is a problem that unnecessary power consumption occurs. Therefore we propose new power management scheme to reduce unnecessary power consumption of WiMedia devices in the case that the fragment is lost.
