자연 노화에 따른 카본 에폭시 압력용기의 섬유 인장 강도 변화 (Natural Aging Effect on the Fiber Tensile Strength of Carbon Epoxy Pressure Vessel)

  • 카본 에폭시로 제작된 복합재 압력용기의 노화 특성과 구조 사용 수명 평가를 위해 실내와 실외에서 10년과 15년간 자연노화 시켰다. 노화 특성의 통계적 분포를 구하기 위해 노화된 압력용기로부터 링 시편을 채취하여 수압 파괴 시험을 실시하였다. 그리고 섬유와 수지 계면의 노화 특성 확인을 위해 시험 파편 계면을 SEM을 이용하여 관찰하였다. 섬유 인장 파손 변형률의 와이블 파라미터 값 기준으로 실내에서 10년, 15년 노화되었을 경우 각각 19%와 23% 저하되었으나, 실내와 실외의 노화 특성 차이는 크지 않았다. 그러나 압력용기 외면에 적용한 표면 페인트는 노화 방지에 큰 효과를 나타내었다.

  • 최근 들어 여러 테러에 의한 폭발사건에서 유발된 위험상황에서 보듯이 폭발에 의한 인명피해나 시설물의 손상은 우리가 고려하는 재해수준을 넘는 비참한 결과를 항상 수반한다. 하지만 폭발에 대한 구조물의 설계는 그 연구나 대책이 상당히 미비한 실정이다. 이에 미국건물설계기준(UBC94)을 바탕으로 내진설계(Welded Moment Resistant Frame)된 10층 건물의 폭발에 대한 해석적 모델을 제공하고자 한다. 현재 폭발하중의 정량적인 결과는 미국 육군(U.S.Department of Army)에서 개발된 경험적 방법에 기반을 둔 프로그램을 통해 폭간거리에 따른 하중의 크기와 분포를 알 수 있다. 본 연구에 사용된 폭원의 성격은 반구형 표면 폭발(Hemispherical Surface Burst)의 경우를 사용하였으며, 또한 선형 및 비선형 시간 이력해석을 통해 건물의 변위, 상대변위, 요구/수행비 및 비선형 거동에 대한 해석적 결과를 제공하였다. 또한 현재 사용되고 있는 내진기준(FEMA356)에 적용하여 소성힌지의 거동을 통해 폭발에 대한 건물의 성능수준을 예상하였다.

Effect of a surface oxide-dispersion-strengthened layer on mechanical strength of zircaloy-4 tubes

  • An oxide-dispersion-strengthened (ODS) layer was formed on Zircaloy-4 tubes by a laser beam scanning process to increase mechanical strength. Laser beam was used to scan the yttrium oxide ($Y_2O_3$)-coated Zircaloy-4 tube to induce the penetration of $Y_2O_3$ particles into Zircaloy-4. Laser surface treatment resulted in the formation of an ODS layer as well as microstructural phase transformation at the surface of the tube. The mechanical strength of Zircaloy-4 increased with the formation of the ODS layer. The ring-tensile strength of Zircaloy-4 increased from 790 to 870 MPa at room temperature, from 500 to 575 MPa at $380^{\circ}C$, and from 385 to 470 MPa at $500^{\circ}C$. Strengthening became more effective as the test temperature increased. It was noted that brittle fracture occurred at room temperature, which was not observed at elevated temperatures. Resistance to dynamic high-temperature bursting improved. The burst temperature increased from 760 to $830^{\circ}C$ at a heating rate of $5^{\circ}C/s$ and internal pressure of 8.3 MPa. The burst opening was also smaller than those in fresh Zircaloy-4 tubes. This method is expected to enhance the safety of Zr fuel cladding tubes owing to the improvement of their mechanical properties.

누설 및 파열실험용 SCC 결함 전열관 제작 및 누설거동 평가 (Production of SCC Flaws and Evaluation Leak Behavior of Steam Generator Tubes)

  • A forced outage due to a steam generator tube leak in a Korean nuclear power plant was reported.1) Primary water stress corrosion cracking has occurred in many tubes in the plant, and they were repaired using sleeves or plugs. In order to develop proper repair criteria, it is necessary to understand the leak behavior of the tubes containing stress corrosion cracks. Stress corrosion cracks were developed in 0.1 M sodium tetrathionate solution at room temperature. Steam generator(SG) tubes with short cracks were successfully fabricated with a restricted solution contact method. The leak rates of the degraded tubes were measured at room temperature. Some tubes with 100 % through wall cracks showed an increase of leak rate with time at a constant pressure.

  • In this study, the scattering of ultrasound by blood is theoretically studied. At first, the Chernow equation which represents acoustic propagation inside the region of inhomogenieties is modified to be fitted for blood. Then, scattering amplitude and scattering Cross-section at the far-field region are obtained from this equation. In this case, hemotocrit is assumed to be less than 26 per cent, and the red blood cell is modeled as independent scatterer. This study also develops a practical approximation for the backscattering of periodic sinewave bursts by a volume of randomly distributed scatterers, i.e., whole red blood cells. This expression for the received backscattering ultrasound pressure after the n-th burst of narrowband transducer is obtained from an ideal continuous wave transducer's response.

  • In this paper, the negative ion mobility of $SF_6$ is determined using as a negative ion detector the burst pulse which is triggered in a positive point-plane gap by electrons detached from negative ions near the anode point. The result obtained for the negative ion mobility for zero field at atmospheric pressure is $0.57cm^2v^{-1}s^{-1}$.

  • Future powertrain technologies will be developed focused on applications of eco-friendly technology for internal combustion engine, electric vehicle and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle. But it is expected that these cutting edge technologies will not be applied immediately due to lack of infrastructure, technical and economical reasons. Therefore, numerous developments of internal combustion engine will be carried out for the time being. There have been many turbo engine developments undergoing to maximize the engine performance using turbo charger system in accordance with global trend-green technology and downsizing of engine which coincides with HMC's future development strategy. This study reviews the development process and result of plastic intake manifold module which is firstly developed for turbo engine. CAE simulation and experiments were implanted to evaluate design validity.

  • 소결공정에 의하여 tertiary amine을 함유하는 hydroxypropyl methacrylate 고분자막을 제조하였다. 이 막의 함수율은 수용액의 pH가 감소함에 따라 증가하였다. 인슐린의 투과도 역시 수용액의 pH가 감소함에 따라 증가하였다. 이 막의 투과도는 소결 압력이 증가함에 따라 감소하였다. 이 막에 당산화효소를 고정화시킨 acryl amide 막을 부착하여 복합 matrix device를 제조하였다. 이 막의 인슐린 투과도는 glucose의 농도가 증가함에 따라 증가하였다.

비정방형실내에서의 직접음과 반사음 식별에 관한 연구 (Recognition of the Direct and Reflected Sounds in an Irregulary Formed Chamber)

  • An irregulary formed chamber was designed and constructed to recognize the direct sound radiated from the sound source and the reflected sound from the walls of the chamber. The sound signal used was tone burst in the frequency response characteristics with the signal detection after transient effect. The direct wave, transient phenomena and the primary reflected sound could be asiily distinguished each other by measurements of the arrival time of the time difference. And also noise could be easily distinguished by the same method. The result obtained can be used in industries for automatic measurement of the sound pressure reponse characteristics with respect to frequencies.

결과분석을 이용한 MEK-PO 제조공장의 폭발사고 사례연구 (A Case Study of Explosion Accident at MEK-PO Factory using Consequence Analysis)

  • In this case study, results of the explosion accident at MEK-PO factory were analysed by using the consequence analysis of quantitative hazard assessment and the explosion energy, the burst pressure of vessel, and overpressures at the explosion center and at 300m distance from the explosion center were estimated, respectively. As a result, we found that a cause of accident was the runaway reaction of product(MEK-PO) because of the molecular expansion in vessel and that the possibility of the runaway reaction was classified the mechanical failure(the obstacle of refrigerator or the shutdown valve), design error, and operating error by lack of thermochemical knowledge. Also, the evasive action to prevent accident was suggested.
