Purpose: Burning mouth syndrome (BMS) is ambiguous and enigmatic oral condition. Sleep disturbance is one of the most prevalent complaints of patients with chronic pain. The aim of this study was to estimate general sleep characteristics and propensity in patients with BMS. Methods: A total of thirty BMS patients and thirty healthy control subjects were investigated. Self-reported measures of sleep quality were conducted using two widely used methods; the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS). Data were analyzed with one-way ANOVA, chi-square, Fisher's exact test, Kruskal-Wallis test, Holm method with 95% confidence interval and p<0.05 significant level. Results: BMS patients showed more poor sleepers than those in control subjects in both ESS and PSQI test. BMS patients also showed statistically significant poorer sleep quality compared with control subjects in both test. When BMS group were divided into three groups on the basis of numeric rating scale, the higher score subjects had, the more mean rank they had in the PSQI. Conclusions: BMS patients showed up poor sleep characteristics and propensity than control group, and they also showed the more severe the pain was, the worse the sleep quality was.
The characteristic analysis of cement clinker using light microscope can evaluate not only the quality of cement but also making process. Thus this study analyzed clinkers having different burning conditions by reflective light microscope. As heating and cooling rates is decreased, alite and belite minerals grew and especially cooling rate had an effect on the growth of belite. Futhermore as the retention time in max. temperature got longer by twenty minutes, alite and belite minerals grew more about 5 $\mu\textrm{m}$. In the case of temperature 1400$^{\circ}C$ in max, the size of belite was suitable but alite was not suitable with the size of 10~15 $\mu\textrm{m}$.

A new micro reformer system consisted of a micro reformer, a microcombustor and a micro evaporator was studied experimentally and computationally. In order to satisfy the primary requirements for designing the microcombustor integrated with a micro evaporator, i.e. stable burning in a small confinement and maximum heat transfer through a wall, the present microcombustor is simply cylindrical to be easily fabricated but two-staged (expanding downstream) to feasibly control ignition and stable burning. Results show that the aspect ratio and wall thickness of the microcombustor substantially affect ignition and thermal characteristics. For the optimized design conditions, a premixed microflame was easily ignited in the expanded second stage combustor, moved into the smaller first stage combustor, and finally stabilized therein. A micro reformer system integrated with a modified microcombustor based on the optimized design condition was fabricated. For a typical operating condition, the designed micro reformer system produced 22.3 sccm hydrogen (3.61 W in LHV) in an overall efficiency of 12%.
This study presents analysis of fire hazard of electrical heating pad. In order to analyze fire hazard fire experimental and flammability experiment is conducted. The fire experiment is conducted to simulate normal condition and abnormal condition such as breakdown of thermostat. Vertical burning test(UL 94) is conducted for the fire retardant experiment. Kinds of electric heating pad used for experiment are electric mat, fabric pad, vinyl pad. The results show that fire hazard is high in case of breakdown of thermostat with the rating voltage supply. And Material of electric heating pad has not fire retardant performance.
A turbulent combustion model, based on edge flame dynamics, is discussed in order to predict global extinction of turbulent flames. The model is applicable to the broken flamelet regime of turbulent combustion, in which global extinction of turbulent flame is achieved by gradual expansion of flame holes. The edge flame dynamics is the key mechanism to describe the flame hole expansion or contraction. For flames with Lewis numbers near unity, there is a $Damk{\ddot{o}}hler$ number, namely the crossover $Damk{\ddot{o}}hler$ number, at which edge flame changes its direction of propagation. The parametric region between the quasi-steady extinction condition and the edge-flame crossover condition is a metastable region, in that flames without edge can stay in their burning states while flames with edge have to retract to expand quenching holes. Using the above properties of edge flame, Hartley and Dold proposed a Lagrangian hole dynamics, which allows us to simulate transient variation of quenching holes. In their model, each stoichiometric surface is subjected to a random sequence of scalar dissipation rate compatible to the equilibrium turbulence. Then, each stoichiometric surface will evolve, according to the combustion map, dependent on the scalar dissipation rate and existence of flame edge, If all the burning surfaces are annihilated, the event can be declared as a global extinction. The consequence obtained from the above model also can be used as a subgrid model to determine local extinction occurring in a calculation grid.
Purpose: Burning mouth syndrome (BMS) is a chronic pain condition involving the oral and perioral regions, often characterized by a burning sensation and pain in elderly patients. In this study, we investigated the effectiveness of pharmacological agents for the treatment of BMS patients through a retrospective chart review. Methods: We enrolled 61 BMS subjects (57 females, 4 males; $66.4{\pm}10.9$ years of age) from among consecutive patients treated pharmacologically from January 2014 to June 2015 at Chonnam National University Dental Hospital. Patients with secondary BMS associated with local factors were excluded. The treatment period, number of pharmacological agents tried, and effectiveness of the drugs administered to each subject were analyzed. Results: The mean treatment period for the management of BMS was 2.5 months. More than three agents were tried to control BMS symptoms in 17 subjects (27.9%); two agents were used in 10 subjects (16.4%), and a single agent in 24 subjects (39.3%). Clonazepam was prescribed most frequently and was effective at relieving symptoms in 30 of 39 subjects (76.9%). Paroxetine was moderately effective, relieving symptoms in 7 of 17 subjects (41.2%). Some of the subjects benefited from tricyclic antidepressants, gabapentin, and lipoic acid. A topical local anesthetic used to supplement other systemic agents had ameliorating effects in four of six subjects. Conclusions: Within the study limitations, clonazepam was the most effective drug and antidepressants were efficacious in some subjects for relieving the symptoms of BMS. These pharmacological agents could be considered as first-line drugs for the management of BMS.

The burning rate estimation method of solid propellants, based on closed bomb tests, has been introduced. The composition of the combustion gas is determined by using CEA and the Noble-Abel equation of state for high pressure operation conditions. Covolume taking into account the collision among molecules due to the actual volume of the molecule is modeled by LJ potential. A cubic form function is applied to calculate the volume change of propellant grains during combustion. The estimated burning rates of five different grain configuation at high pressure are fairly compared with BRLCB results within the maximum error of 6%.
A nonlinear acoustic instability of subcritical liquid-oxygen droplet flames burning in gaseous hydrogen environment are investigated numerically. Emphases are focused on the effects of finite-rate kinetics by employing a detailed hydrogen-oxygen chemistry and of the phase change of liquid oxygen. Results show that if nonlinear harmonic pressure oscillations are imposed, larger flame responses occur during the period that the pressure passes its temporal minimum, at which point flames are closer to extinction condition. Consequently, the flame response function, normalized during one cycle of pressure oscillation, increases nonlinearly with the amplitude of pressure perturbation. This nonlinear response behavior can be explained as a possible mechanism to produce the threshold phenomena for acoustic instability, often observed during rocket-engine tests.
Fast burning achieves higher efficiency, and reduces cycle variations which is able to improve vehicle driveability. Furthermore, the greater resistance to knock with fast burning can allow the fuel economy advantages associated with higher compression ratio to be realized. One way of increasing the combustion speed is to enhance the performance of ignition systems which were able to reduce the early period of combustion. It is well known that shortening the initial stage of combustion also reduces the cyclic variations. This literature survey deals with the papers which have studied the ignition process or various ignition systems. Those systems increasing the combustion speed, extending the lean misfire limit, reducing the exhaust gas and stabilizing the operating condition of the spark ignition engine by modifying the ignition process or increasing ignition energy.

Heat release characteristics of live fire load are an important parameter for performance oriented fire safety design of a building. While investigations have been carried out on the fire load and its burning behavior in office, residential and commercial buildings and so on, little effort has been paid for the rational treatment of fire load in post office buildings in Japan. In this report, burning behavior of typical combustible objects in post office buildings are studied by measuring heat release rates of plastic palettes with and without postal envelopes or packages and special containers loading numbers of palettes. The test results suggest that dynamic heat release rate is highly dependent on the condition of palettes especially if they load appropriate amount of postal envelopes or not.
