각종 매설관의 내진성능평가를 위한 곡선적합식의 개발 (Development of Curve Fitted Equations for Seismic Performance Evaluation of Various Buried Pipelines)

  • Purpose of this research is a development for the curve fitted equations that can improve practical calculation and work application when seismic performance has been evaluated and this work has been made a study of the dynamic response under various boundary conditions of buried pipelines to compare the dynamic behavior of concrete pipe and steel pipe, FRP pipe. This research have been developed curve fitted equations that can be improving efficiency and practicality. Using a nonlinear least square method, and after testing several different exponential equations, Proposed the curve fitted equations to give the best result and constant value by the propagation velocities. With these results, dynamic response analysis and seismic performance evaluation have been achieved on concrete pipe, steel pipe and FRP pipe that have a various boundary conditions. Degree of a polynomial expression and coefficient value by propagation velocity have been calculated when using the curve fitting equations.

지중매설 유리섬유복합관의 관변형에 관한 안전성 평가 (A Safety Evaluation on the Ring Deflection of Buried GRP Pipes)

  • 최근 지중매설 유리섬유복합관(GRP관)은 유해한 환경에서 뛰어난 성능을 보유하고 있어 하수관거용으로서 사용이 증가 되고 있다. 또한 지중에 매설되어 있는 조건에서 기존의 콘크리트관 등 강성관에 비해 구조적 성능이 뛰어나다. 지중매설 GRP관은 주로 상부에 작용하는 상부토압과 활하중에 의한 압축응력에 의해 원주방향으로 변형이 일어나게 된다. GRP관의 구조적 거동은 매설토와 주변의 지반의 성질에 따라 다르게 설계되어야 한다. GRP관의 설계는 Spangler 의 변형량 계산식을 Watkins에 의해 수정되어 사용되고 있다. 이 연구에서는 Watkins의 관변형 추정식에 GRP관의 재료적 특성을 고려하여 관변형량을 예측하였다.

공동주택 이중관 공법의 현안 분석 및 개선 연구 (A Study on the Status and Improvement of Double Pipe System in Apartment Buildings)

  • Double pipe system in which PB pipe is inserted in CD pipe buried in the concrete slab is widely used for cold and hot water supplies in apartment housings. The system, however becomes complicated and the overlaying pipes in the concrete slab weaken the compressive strength of the slab. Also, insufficient insulation increases energy loss. In this work, the problems of the double pipe system are studied and plans A, B, and C are suggested for improvement. In terms of compressive strength of the concrete slab, plan A(total pipe length 73 m) was the weakest and plan B(2 m) was the strongest. Energy loss of plan A was the largest with 558.9 W and plan B was the lowest with 220.7 W. However, considering the combined effect of strength and heat loss, plan C becomes the best choice, which retains the advantage of the double pipe system.

원전 냉각수 취수용 지중매설 GFRP관의 구조적 거동 조사 (An Investigation of Structural Behavior of Underground Buried GFRP Pipe in Cooling Water Intake for the Nuclear Power Plant)

  • GRP pipe (Glass-fiber Reinforced Plastic Pipe) lines making use of FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) are generally thinner, lighter, and stronger than the existing concrete or steel pipe lines, and it is excellent in stiffness/strength per unit weight. In this study, we present the result of field test for buried GRP pipes with large diameter(2,400mm). The vertical and horizontal ring deflections are measured for 387 days. The short-term deflection measured by the field test is compared with the result predicted by the Iowa formula. In addition, the long-term ring deflection is predicted by using the procedure suggested in ASTM D 5365(ANNEX) in the range of 40 to 60 years of service life of the pipe based on the experimental results. From the study, it was found that the long-term vertical and horizontal ring deflection up to 60 years is less than the 5% ring deflection limitation.

  • The concrete pipe used to distribute irrigation water to the right place now available is commonly made up of cement , sand, earth, pebble, etc. These materials with right ratio and right amount of water were mixed and squeezed through the pipe-making machine called vertical squeezed pipe-making machine, and then a cement prefabricated pipe is produced . This kinds of pipe has been expanding by leaps and bounds. Being little cement contents and low cost, the length of pipe is 1.0m or so with weight of 50kg, which is easy to be made and to be transported. The demolish pressure of it is 0.2 MPa or so, which meets the needs of agriculture irrigation . The buried pipe irrigation system, has been popularized in Jining Municipal , Shandong Province. By the year of 1995 , the irrigation area under pipe conveyancesystem usign this type of pipe has reached 74000 hectares. By calculation, about 27.7million ㎥ water, 2.88 million kWh power , 0.167 million man power and 1528 hectares cu tivated land will be saved one year, adding value of agriculture output increased by 10 million kg. The total economic benefits amount to 0.92 million US$ a year. The paper presents the pipe making course and its application on a large scale area.

콘크리트 매설관의 동적응답해석에 대한 곡선적합식의 개발 (Development of Curve Fitted Equation about Dynamic Response Analysis of a Buried Concrete Pipelines)

  • 본 연구는 일단고정-일단자유 단부 경계조건을 가진 콘크리트 매설관의 동적응답을 연구하고, 내진성능 평가 시 실용적이고 실무적용성이 높은 곡선 적합식의 개발을 목적으로 한다. 매설관의 동적응답을 연구하기 위해 기존 연구에서 개발된 수치해석 프로그램을 사용하여 일단고정-일단자유 단부 경계조건에 대한 최대변형 률 발생지점을 산정한 후, 산정된 지점에 대하여 5-1000(m) 의 파장${\lambda}$과 100-2000(m/see)의 전파속도 $(V_s)$를 적용하여 파장${\lambda}$의 변화와 전파속도 $(V_s)$의 변화에 따른 단위 (휨) 변형률 곡선식을 산출하였다. 적합성이 높은 곡선 적합식을 개발하기 위해 비선형 최소자승법을 이용하여 다양한 형태의 지수방정식을 검정한 후, 가장 좋은 결과를 나타내는 곡선 적합식과 필요한 계수 값을 제시하였다.

Experiment on the Feasibility of Cleaning Building Pipelines using Ultrasonic Cavitation

  • Residential heating systems in South Korea are largely based on the use of ondol pipelines. Heat is transferred to the floor by passing hot water through a metal or plastic pipe buried within the concrete of the floor. Consequently, it is difficult to clean the inside of these pipes after installation. Over time, foreign substances such as scale accumulate in the pipe when the ondol heating method is used for an extended period. Therefore, in the past, pipes were cleaned by removing foreign substances attached to the inside surfaces of the pipes using high-pressure water or by disassembling the pipes and removing foreign substances with chemical agents. Recently, a method for removing foreign substances through the cavitation effect of ultrasound has been proposed. This idea might lead to the development of new technologies for cleaning pipe interiors. Consequently, this study investigated the use of ultrasound to clean pipes embedded in concrete. In this study, devices that generated ultrasonic waves with various frequencies and directions were prepared. After preparing arbitrarily contaminated pipes, the appropriate frequency, output strength, and output direction for each foreign substance were determined through repeated experiments. The results of this experiment could provide important information for future methods of cleaning the interior of ondol piping systems.

열매체 순환수 배관이 매설된 콘크리트 도로 포장체의 표면 온도 변화와 방열량 평가 (Evaluation of Surface Temperature Variation and Heat Exchange Rate of Concrete Road Pavement with Buried Circulating Water Piping)

  • Hydronic heated road pavement (HHP) systems have been well established and documented to provide road safety in winter season over the past two decades. However, most of the systems run on asphalt, only a few are tested with concrete, and there rarely is a comparison between those two common road materials in their performance. The aim of this study is to investigate the thermal performance of the concrete HHP systems, including surface temperature variations of experimental pavements in winter season. For preliminary study a small-scale experimental system was installed to evaluate the heat transfer characteristics of the concrete HHP in the test field. The system consists of 3 concrete slabs made of 1 m in width, 1 m in length, and 0.25 m in height. In these slabs, circulating water piping was embedded with different pipe depths of 0.08 m (Case A), 0.12 m (Case B), and 0.20 m (Case C) and same horizontal space of 0.16 m. Heating performance in winter season was tested with different inlet temperatures of 25℃, 30℃, 35℃ and 40℃ during the entire measurement period. Overall, the surface temperature of the concrete HHPs remained above 3℃ in all experimental conditions applied in this study. The results of the surface temperature measurement with respect to the pipe depth showed that Case B was the highest among the three cases. However, the closer the circulating water pipe was to the pavement surface, the greater the heat exchange rate. This results is considered that the heat is continuously accumulated inside the pavements and then the temperature inside the pavements increases, while the amount of heat dissipation decreases as the temperature difference between the inlet and outlet of circulating water decreases. In this preliminary test the applicability of the concrete HHP on road deicing was confirmed. Finally, the results can be used as a basis for studying the effects of various variables on road pavements through numerical analysis and for conducting large-scale empirical experiments.

열사이클을 적용한 고온 조건 콘크리트 블록의 열용량 특성 (Thermal Energy Capacity of Concrete Blocks Subjected to High-Temperature Thermal Cycling)

  • 본 연구에서는 열에너지 저장시스템의 중요한 요소인 저장 매체에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. 열에너지 저장 매체로써 콘크리트는 열적 및 역학적 특성이 우수하며 저렴한 비용으로 인해 다양한 이점을 갖는다. 또한, 강섬유가 혼입된 초고강도 콘크리트는 고인성 및 고강도 특성으로 인해 고온 노출에 우수한 내구성을 나타내며, 강섬유의 높은 열전도율은 축열 및 방열에 유리한 영향을 미친다. 초고강도 콘크리트의 온도분포 특성을 파악하기 위하여 콘크리트 블록을 제작하고 일정한 열사이클을 적용하여 가열실험을 수행하였다. 열유체 흐름에 의한 열전달을 위하여 열전달 파이프를 콘크리트 블록 중심부에 매립하였다. 또한, 열전달 파이프 형상에 따른 온도분포 특성을 비교하기 위하여 핀의 유무에 따라 원형 파이프 및 종방향 핀 부착 파이프를 설정하였다. 열사이클에 따른 온도분포 특성을 분석하고, 이를 토대로 시간에 따른 열에너지 및 누적 열에너지를 산정하여 비교 분석하였다. 열사이클이 반복될수록 강섬유 혼입 초고강도 콘크리트는 고온에 대하여 안정화를 나타내었다. 또한, 온도분포 및 열에너지 산정 결과를 통해 축열 성능을 보유한 것으로 판단되며, 열에너지 저장 매체 역할을 수행할 수 있는 재료로 기대된다.

Analysis of underground post-tensioned precast concrete box utility tunnel under normal fault displacement

  • For long underground box utility tunnels, post-tensioned precast concrete is often used. Between precast tunnel segments, sealed waterproof flexible joints are often specified. Fault displacement can lead to excessive deformation of the joints, which can lead to reduction in waterproofing due to diminished contact pressure between the sealant strip and the tunnel segment. This paper authenticates utilization of a finite element model for a prefabricated tunnel fault-crossing founded on ABAQUS software. In addition, material parameter selection, contact setting and boundary condition are reviewed. Analyzed under normal fault action are: the influence of fault displacement; buried depth; soil friction coefficient, and angle of crossing at the fault plane. In addition, distribution characteristics of the utility tunnel structure for vertical and longitudinal/horizontal relative displacement at segmented interface for the top and bottom slab are analyzed. It is found that the effect of increase in fault displacement on the splice joint deformation is significant, whereas the effects of changes in burial depth, pipe-soil friction coefficient and fault-crossing angle on the overall tunnel and joint deformations were not so significant.
