HANDY MAX급 DOUBLE HULL BULK CARRIER의 구조적 안전성 고찰 (Study of Structural Safety for Handy Max Double Hull Bulk Carrier)

  • 일반적인 Bulk carrier는 Single deck, Double bottom, Hopper side tank, Top side tank와 함께 Single side skin 또는 Double side skin으로 구성되어 Single hull bulk carrier 또는 Double hull bulk carrier라 불린다. 본 논문의 연구선박인 Double hull bulk carrier는 CSR에서 규정짓고 있는 Double hull bulk carrier의 특징 중 Hopper side tank가 없기에 일반적인 Double hull bulk carrier와는 다른 구조를 가진다. 구조적 특징으로는 Inner bottom과 Inner hull 연결부위에 응력 집중 발생, Side shell의 Shear에 대해 구조적 안전성, Double hull에 대한 CSR for bulk carrier의 Rule적용 여부에 대한 판단 등이 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 Double hull bulk carrier의 구조적 특징과 구조해석을 통한 응력 집중 부위의 평가 및 Fatigue analysis을 통한 피로수명을 계산하여 이를 통해 구조의 안전성을 살펴보고자 한다.

BC-B Type150K DWT Class Bulk carrier 구조적 특성에 관한 고찰 (A study of Analysis for 150K DWT Class Bulk carrier(BC-B type))

  • A BC-B type bulk carrier is rarely built, so the structural characteristics is not reported and familiar so far. The biggest difference between BC-B and BC-A type vessel is applying alternate cargo loading, which density is over $1.0ton/m^3$. In this paper, 150K DWT class BC-B type bulk carrier is calculated and compared with BC-A type vessel, which has same condition such as main dimension and deadweight, about prescriptive rule and FEA based on CSR. And aspect ratio of target vessel is smaller than typical capsize bulk carrier, so 150K and 180K bulk carrier, which applied BC-A type, are also compared to find feature of wide beam vessel.

발크캐리어의 안전성 향상에 관한 연구 (A Study for the Improvement of Safety of Bulk Carriers)

  • Concerns related to the safety of bulk carriers we, most of all, the increasing number of bulk carrier accidents which amount to 425 during last 20 years; half of them are totally lost. A number of bulk tarriers are still missing. Bulk carrier safety has become an international issue since 1995. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) embarked on the legislation as a countermeasure to the increasing number of the bulk carrier accidents. The IMO discussed in the safety of bulk carriers including the strength of transverse watertight bulkheads, especially when the ship carries high density cargoes and the damage stability of bulk carriers in the flooded condition. In this study, statistics and causes of accidents of bulk carriers are analyzed in order to identify special features of bulk carrier accident and causes of the casualty. This study examines certain cases of hull collapses and severence which resulted in sinking to infer possible causes of missing ships.

  • 본 논문에서는bulk dynamic threshold voltage MOSFET(B-DTMOS)와 bulk MOSFET(B-MOS)에서 hot carrier 현상으로 인한 RF 성능 저하를 비교하였다. Normal 및 moderate 모드에서 B-DTMOS의 차단주파수 및 최소잡음지수의 열화가 B-MOS 소자 보다 심하지 않음을 알 수 있었다. 실험 견과로부터 hot carrier에 의한 RF 성능 저하가 DC 특성 열화 보다 심함을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 처음으로 hot carrier 현상으로 인한 B-DTMOS 소자의 RF 전력 특성 저하를 측정하였다.

The relative construction concept was used to certify the economical validity of double hull bulk carrier.

  • After many casualties of conventional bulk carriers in recent years, a double hull bulk carrier was proposed to enhance the structural safety of a side shell and a transverse bulkhead. In this paper, two alternative structural designs of a double hull bulk carrier were carried out based on the Lloyd's rule. One has the double sided hull with longitudinal stiffeners and the other has that with a girder. The final structural design was examined in comparison with an existing single hull bulk carrier from the viewpoints of cargo hold capacity and the increases of weight and construction cost. Generally, the construction cost of a ship consists of the costs of material, labor and overhead cost. But, in this study, the relative construction cost concept was introduced to compare the economical validity more precisely. In this concept, fixed overhead cost is excluded in the assessment of construction cost, and only the variable overhead cost is added up to labor cost. As the result of this study, a double hull bulk carrier can be constructed within 1% increase of weight and construction cost.

  • The present paper deals with the casualties of bulk carriers, many of which resulted in catastrophic and fatal consequencies - losses of ships and lives. In fact the fatality and the alarming statistics of bulk carrier casualty have ling been criticized since 1980's by several seafarers. In the paper, the features of hull structure and operation of bulk carrier are, firstly, examined and, then, casualties and major causes are speculated, Secondly, the issues of circumstances around shipping and naval architectural circles related to the casualties are raised and discussed. Finally, it highlights the need and the way for a higher safety standard for the shipping industy.

  • The International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) had developed the Common Structural Rules (CSR) for bulk carriers as per the needs noted above. ISO and IMO GBS (Goal-Based Standards) are now being developed in this regard. This study has been prepared to verity the strength of forward cargo hold of 82,000 DWT class bulk carriers. A cargo hold/tank 3-D FE model was established to assess the structural adequacy of the primary structural members with the loading conditions. Full breadth model was established for the analysis considering asymmetric nature of structural layout and loading conditions. To summarize this result of structural assessment based on IACS CRS for bulk carrier, it is benefit to design this kind of bulk carriers and to study the strength assessment for the similar type of bulk carriers.
