Water flow characteristics of an apartment complex consisting of 12 buildings and 635 units in total have been investigated numerically. The complex incorporates two zone booster pump water supply system, and some units have pressure reducing valves in them. Input data to a commercial code Flowmaster7 include survey results on the water usage for the last three years, dimension of the water supply system and its operation condition, etc. Calculated static pressures at the inlet of all units are compared with their design and measured counterparts, and they agree quite well with each other. Then, the pressure distributions and volumetric flow rates at all 635 units are estimated. Flow balancing is also attempted by varying the ratio of angle valve of each unit to improve the non-uniformity of flows.

In this paper, we propose a vision-based simultaneous localization and map-building (SLAM) algorithm. SLAM problem asks the location of mobile robot in the unknown environments. Therefore, this problem is one of the most important processes of mobile robots in the outdoor operation. To solve this problem, Extended Kalman filter (EKF) is widely used. However, this filter requires computational power (${\sim}O(N)$, N is the dimension of state vector). To reduce the computational complexity, we applied compressed extended Kalman filter (CEKF) to stereo image sequence. Moreover, because the mobile robots operate in the outdoor environments, we should estimate full d.o.f.s of mobile robot. To evaluate proposed SLAM algorithm, we performed the outdoor experiments. The experiment was performed by using new wheeled type mobile robot, Robhaz-6W. The performance results of CEKF SLAM are presented.

The meaning of hologram is widely used as a similar hologram. The use of holograms has been proposed in many cases. In this paper, we present an outline of similar holograms using up to 3 or 4 facets, and express the similar holograms using the results produced by 3D modeling of the university headquarters building at Wonkwang University. Through this, a virtual building seen by the human eye can be virtually shown in space through a hologram among various methods shown in a virtual space such as AR / VR / MR. Through this study, it is possible to try to construct a new digital contents utilization area by expressing various materials such as buildings or cultural property buildings through hologram.
Seismic design codes permit the use of Equivalent Static Analysis of buildings considering torsional eccentricity e with dynamic amplification factors on structural eccentricity and some accidental eccentricity. Estimation of e in buildings is not addressed in codes. This paper presents a simple approximate method to estimate e in RC Moment Frame and RC Structural Wall buildings, which required no detailed structural analysis. The method is validated by 3D analysis (using commercial structural analysis software) of a spectrum of building. Results show that dynamic amplification factor should be applied on torsional eccentricity when performing Response Spectrum Analysis also. Also, irregular or mixed modes of oscillation arise in torsionally unsymmetrical buildings owing to poor geometric distribution of mass and stiffness in plan, which is captured by the mass participation ratio. These irregular modes can be avoided in buildings of any plan geometry by limiting the two critical parameters (normalised torsional eccentricity e/B and Natural Period Ratio 𝜏 =T𝜃/T, where B is building lateral dimension, T𝜃 uncoupled torsional natural period and T uncoupled translational natural period). Suggestions are made for new building code provisions.
Advancements in the technology of building materials has led to diverse applications of nanomaterials with the aim to monitor concrete structures. While there are myriad instances of the use of nanoparticles in building materials, the production of smart nano cement-composites is often expensive. Thereupon, this research aims to discover a sustainable nanomaterial from tyre waste using the pyrolysis process as part of the green manufacturing circle. Here, Nano Structure Tyre-Char (NSTC) is introduced as a zero-dimension carbon-based nanoparticle. The NSTC particles were characterized using various standard characterization techniques. Several salient results for the NSTC particles were obtained using microscopic and spectroscopic techniques. The size of the particles as well as that of the agglomerates were reduced significantly using the milling process and the results were validated through a scanning electron microscope. The crystallite size and crystallinity were found to be ~35nm and 10.42%, respectively. The direct bandgap value of 5.93eV and good optical conductivity at 786 nm were obtained from the ultra violet visible spectroscopy measurements. The thermal analysis reveals the presence of a substantial amount of carbon, the rate of maximum weight loss, and the two stages of phase transformation. The FT-Raman confirms the presence of carboxyl groups and a ID/IG ratio of 0.83. Water contact angle around 140° on the surface implies the highly hydrophobic nature of the material and its low surface energy. This characteristic process assists to obtain a sustainable nanomaterial from waste tyres, contributing to the development of a smart building material.
Flexural behaviors of the two typical precast beam sections (inverted tee and rectangular) for buildings were investigated and compared. The height of web in the inverted tee beam was generally less than half of beam depth to be adapted to that of the nib in the ends of double-tee where the total building height limited considerably. The inverted-tee beams were designed for a parking live load - 500kgf/$m^2$ and a market - 1,200kgf/$m^2$ from the currently used typical shape of a domestic building site in Korea. The area and bottom dimension of rectangular beams were the same as those of inverted tee beams. These woo beams were also reinforced with a similar strength. following results were obtained from the studies above; 1) the rectangular beam is simpler in production, transportation, and erection, and more economic than the inverted tee beam in the construction test for these two beams with a same dimension and a similar strength, 2) all of the beams considered in the tests were generally failed in values close to those of the strength requirements in ACI Provisions. The ratios of test result to calculated value are averaged to 1.04. One rectangular and one inverted tee beams failed in a value only 2-3% larger than the estimated volue of the Strength Design Methool the results of the Strain Compatibility Method wire slightly more accurate than those of the Strength Design Method, 4) the maximum deflections of all of the beams under the full service loads were less than those of the allowable limit in ACI Code Provisions. The rectangular beams experienced more deflection then inverted tee in the same loading condition and failed with more deflection, and 5) the rectangular and inverted tee beams showed good performances under the condition of service and ultimate loads. However, one inverted tee beams with fm span developed an initial flexural crackings under 88% of the full service load even though they designed to satisfy the ACI tensile stress limit provisions.

The building information should be up-to-date information and propagated rapidly for urban modeling, terrain analysis, life information, navigational system, and location-based services(LBS), hence the most recent and updated data of the building information have been required of researchers. This paper presents the developed system to extract the 3-dimension spatial information from aerial orthoimage and LiDAR data of HSI color model. In particular, this paper presents the image processing algorithm to extract the outline of specific buildings and generate the building polygon from the image using HIS color model, recursive backtracking algorithm and the search maze algorithm. Also, this paper shows the effectivity of the HIS color model in the image segmentation.

This paper presents an experimental investigation on the surface pressures on the CAARC standard tall building model concerning the effects of freestream turbulence. Two groups of incidence turbulence are generated in the wind tunnel experiment. The first group has an approximately constant turbulence intensity of 10.3% but different turbulence integral scale varying from 0.141 m to 0.599 m or from 0.93 to 5.88 in terms of scale ratio (turbulence integral scale to building dimension). The second group presents similar turbulence integral scale but different turbulence intensity ranging from 7.2% to 13.5%. The experimental results show that the mean pressure coefficients on about half of the axial length of the side faces near the leading edge slightly decrease as the turbulence integral scale ratio that is larger than 4.25 increases, but respond markedly to the changes in turbulence intensity. The root-mean-square (RMS) and peak pressure coefficients depend on both turbulence integral scale and intensity. The RMS pressure coefficients increase with turbulence integral scale and intensity. As the turbulence integral scale increases from 0.141 m to 0.599 m, the mean peak pressure coefficient increases by 7%, 20% and 32% at most on the windward, side faces and leeward of the building model, respectively. As the turbulence intensity increases from 7.2% to 13.5%, the mean value of peak pressure coefficient increases by 47%, 69% and 23% at most on windward, side faces and leeward, respectively. The values of cross-correlations of fluctuating pressures increase as the turbulence integral scale increases, but decrease as turbulence intensity increases in most cases.

The purpose of this paper is to examine relation between trust building level and linkages's spatial characteristics on the logistics & storage industry of Busan. As a result, First, long-term & repeated interaction, information sharing & reciprocity, and interdependence & asset specificity have an important effect upon the micro trust which implies the highest trust. Proximity and uncertainty impact on the meso trust, the trust of middle level. Culture, norm, and formal institution of firms affect the macro trust, the lowest level of trust. Second, the micro, the meso, and the macro trusts mainly form in the local scale where spatial proximity is great. The higher the trust building levels become, the more spatial dimensions by linkage expand to national and international dimension, respectively. Third, these results appear more clearly in the output linkage than input linkage, in the service areas-many firm, in the horizontal linkage than vertical linkage, in the advanced evolution phases of firm connection, and in the supply chain management than outsourcing.
In this study, we carried out a precedent investigation for an ultra-large container ship, which is expected to be a higher value-added vessel. We studied a preliminary optimized design technique for estimating the principal dimensions of an ultra-large container ship. Above all, we have developed optimized dimension estimation models to reduce the building costs and weight, using previous container ships in shipbuilding yards. We also applied a generalized estimation model to estimate the shipping service costs. A Genetic Algorithm, which utilized the RFR (required freight rate) of a container ship as a fitness value, was used in the optimization technique. We could handle uncertainties in the shipping service environment using a Monte-Carlo simulation. We used several processes to verify the estimated dimensions of an ultra-large container ship. We roughly determined the general arrangement of an ultra-large container ship up to 1500 TEU, the capacity check of loading containers, the weight estimation, and so on. Through these processes, we evaluated the possibility for the practical application of the preliminary design model.
