도시열섬 적응능력 제고를 위한 옥상녹화 중점지역 선정 방안 (Selection of Green Roof Initiative Zone for Improving Adaptation Capability against Urban Heat Island)

  • The improvement of adaptation capability against heat island (ACHI) by greening buildings is considered as an important measure to cope with a climate change. This study aimed to select the most appropriate zones for green roof initiative in case study sites, Bucheon, Anyang, and Suwon Cities and to investigate the characteristics of buildings for greening to improve ACHI. Relative ACHI for each lot was estimated from 0 to -9, assuming that it decreases with the distance from green space and waterbody. Low adaptation capabilities were mostly shown in the old urban blocks with dense low-rise buildings and lack of green space. Three blocks with the lowest ACHIs were chosen as a green roof initiative zone in each city. They are largely residential areas including low-rise buildings such as single, multi-household houses, townhouses, 5 or lower story apartments and few are industrial areas crowded with small factory buildings. The areas of building roof available for greening are 8.8% within the selected zones in Bucheon City, 5.3% in Anyang City, and 4.9% in Suwon City. As it were, 25.2~41.7% of the roof top areas are available for greening in these zones. It means that roof top areas of $25,000{\sim}120,000m^2$ can be used for greening within the selected zones of $0.64{\sim}1.65km^2$ to improve ACHI. The approach and results of the study are significant to provide a logical basis and information on location, scale, effect, and target figure of greening as a measure to cope with climate change.

서울 은평 뉴타운 1지구 조경설계 (A Landscape Design Proposal for Eunpyeong New Town, Seoul)

  • The Seoul Housing Corporation pronounced an alternative design competition and a bidding for Eunpyeong New Town in December of 2004. At first many construction companies were interested in the first New Town Project. But at last a few companies had proposed the alternative design and construction cost. This project needed a conjunction of design ideas and technology know-hows. And the client wanted the brand power of construction company. Ultimately the Corporation hoped that the first New Town Project will end up with high quality successfully. This competition had started with the original construction drawings. Then it needed some alternative ideas and the lowest cost. There were two drawings of non changeable part and changeable part. Non changeable parts are structure like housing unit plan, underground parking lots. Changeable parts are outdoor layout, interior design and building facade. So we tried all ideas of landscape technology and design principles within limited guidelines. The author applied new technology like tilted rooftop greening and sustained container greening on high-rise apartment house. This green technology will be the first trial in Seoul and in the world as well. Daewoo Corporation have accumulated greening technology through the researches by national funding since 2002. Through this New Town Project the green technology will go forward step by step.

옥상녹화조성에 따른 온도저감효과에 관한 연구 -서울대학교 실험구를 중심으로- (The Effect of Temperature Reduction as Influenced by Rooftop Greening)

  • The objective of this study is to analyze the thermal properties of various green roof type. The experimental districts, have different soil thickness, soil type, the existence of module and the different kinds of vegetation, had installed. A measurement was conducted in Seoul University to investigate the thermal impacts of rooftop greening. The measurement point of temperature were 30, located in soil surface, middle of the soil layer, under the module, hard surface and soffit surface of each experimental district. The experimental investigation lasted from 6th August to 29th August, a total of 24 days. The results showed that green roof can contribute thermal benefits by soil and vegetation and reduce building energy consumption by a role of insulation. It's also better to make soil thickness over 20cm and various vegetation that should be more effective. The district installed only soil also could be effective for reducing the temperature of roof surface. Therefore, the increase of soil thickness and various vegetation could reduce more temperature of roof surface and building energy consumption. Also, it's helpful to reduce temperature that plant coverage rate be raised.

A Basic Study on Container-type Planting Ground for Perpendicular Greening

  • This study is to find the effective way to green perpendicular wall spaces as soon as possible and to get basic data for activating the perpendicular greening on high story building through the experiment of container-type planting ground in which lightened artificial soil mixed with rock wool was put. Comparative studies of the sizes of containers and soil were carried out but separate management was not performed. Four plants(Euonymus fortunei var. radicans, Lonicera japonica, Parthenocissus quinquefolia, Parthenocissus tricuspidata) which have the capability to cover and screen perpendicular spaces were used in the experiment. In result, a container must be equipped with over 15cm depth soil mixed with less than $30\%$ of rock wool.

옥상녹화 조성지역의 현황평가 및 이용객 만족도 연구 (The Evaluation of Present Condition and Visitors Satisfaction of Rooftop Greening)

  • The objective of this study is to the integrated evaluation of the present condition and satisfaction of visitors of rooftop greening area using quantitative and qualitative method. The thirteen green roofs were selected to investigate environmental variables as like building structure, soil, water, atmosphere and climate environment and questionnaire survey for investigate the satisfaction of visitors was conducted. The results of this study are as follows : remove of the hazardous inflow of species, install rain water recycling facility, install outdoor unit of air condition where not to affect plants in green roof, install safety facilities in the case of making resting place, plant variable vegetation and so on. The result of questionnaire survey are that visitors want to make more comfortable resting space. The more bigger the resting space and privacy, the more satisfaction of visitor became high. In conclusion, green roofs implementation should be considered reduction of temperature and delay of runoff, insulation effect and ecological restoration as well as rooftop greening is focused on the development of resting space nowadays.

담장허물기로 인한 주택지 외부공간의 열환경 평가 (Evaluation of Thermal Environment of External Space following the Fence Demolition Campaign in Detached Housing Area)

  • This study examines how fence demolition may change the thermal environments of external spaces of houses and suggests what factors need to be considered when a fence is demolished. The results of the research are summarized as follows. In terms of the surface temperature, there was no significant difference in all time plots after the removal of all materials. However, applying greening methods (changing the surface materials, planting trees, and building a green roof following fence demolition) could lower the surface temperatures, calling for proper plans for various greening methods. The MRT results indicates that walls block solar radiation and provide shade, reducing radiant heat from roads and surrounding structures during the daytime when solar radiation directly effects surface temperatures. Also, the application of greening methods such as planting vegetation and trees could have shading and evapotranspiration effects, leading to a lower temperature distribution. The HIP results were similar to the MRT results. They indicated that walls block solar radiation within the residential sections and provide shade, resulting in a lower temperature distribution during the daytime. However, areas where greening methods such as a green roof or tree planting were applied showed $1{\sim}2^{\circ}C$ difference in temperature distribution.

  • For the purpose of reducing defects (cracking) in topping concretes cast as artificial greening layer base, synthetic macro fibers were mixed. The flexural strength of synthetic macro fiber mixed topping concretes was tested via comparing its performance with current topping concrete. According to the results of the testing, topping concrete with adjusted mixing ratio after mixing with 1kg of synthetic macro fiber showed approximately 15% higher flexural strength compared to the current topping concrete.

  • As industrialization progresses is rapidly growing, the city of density and temperature is rising successively. It leads to the status of environmental issues. It is needed to develop process of planting concrete block using by Eco-materials for replacing to he existing rooftop light soil that imported. In this study, developing the process of planting lightweight block is researched on using applications of 6 Sigma technique. It makes process object improve standard by using statistical method. Also, there are suggestion that it is optimum mix design conditions and affection of experimental factors in matters of developing planting concrete block for rooftop greening.

폐목질 자원을 이용한 옥상녹화용 식생기반재의 물리 및 화학적 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Physical and Chemical Properties of Vegetation Foundation for Rooftop Greening Using Wood Waste)

  • 경제가 성장함에 따라 도시 곳곳에 인공구조물이 건설되면서 녹지공간이 줄어들고 있다. 녹지공간의 축소는 도시의 열섬현상, 지구온난화 등을 가중시키고 삶의 질을 저하시키는 등의 문제를 가져왔다. 최근 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 건물의 옥상과 같이 버려진 공간을 이용한 옥상녹화에 관한 연구가 많이 이루어지고 있다. 옥상녹화 시 가장 중요한 문제로 대두되는 것은 건물에 미치는 토양의 하중으로 건물에 부하되는 하중을 줄이기 위해 경량성 녹화소재가 필요하게 되었다. 본 연구에서는 경량성 소재인 폐목재칩과 폐지 슬러리를 이용하여 녹화용 식생기반재를 제작하였다. 폐목재칩과 폐지 슬러리의 사용은 자원을 재활용한다는 의미에서도 의의를 가진다. 폐목재칩과 폐지 슬러리를 60 : 40으로 혼합하고 습윤지력증강제의 처리를 달리하였고, 보수력을 위해 표면사이즈제를 처리하여 각 처리 조건에 따라 물리적 특성과 화학적 특성을 평가하였다. 실험결과 15%의 습윤지력증강제를 첨가한 식생기반재가 습윤 시 최대의 강도를 보였고, 표면사이즈제를 도포하지 않은 식생기반재에서는 도포한 것에 비해 높은 수분증발량을 보여 표면사이즈제가 보수력을 높이는데 효과적임을 알 수 있었다. 흡수 시 두께변화는 1 mm 이하로 그 변화가 적어 치수안정성이 우수한 소재임을 알 수 있었다. 식생기반재의 pH는 7.6~8.25로 중성에서 약 알카리성으로 나타났다.
