THE DISCRETE-TIME ANALYSIS OF THE LEAKY BUCKET SCHEME WITH DYNAMIC LEAKY RATE CONTROL

  • The leaky bucket scheme is a promising method that regulates input traffics for preventive congestion control. In the ATM network, the input traffics are bursty and transmitted at high-speed. In order to get the low loss probability for bursty input traffics, it is known that the leaky bucket scheme with static leaky rate requires larger data buffer and token pool size. This causes the increase of the mean waiting time for an input traffic to pass the policing function, which would be inappropriate for real time traffics such as voice and video. We present the leaky bucket scheme with dynamic leaky rate in which the token generation period changes according to buffer occupancy. In the leaky bucket scheme with dynamic leaky rate, the cell loss probability and the mean waiting time are reduced in comparison with the leaky bucket scheme with static leaky rate. We analyze the performance of the proposed leaky bucket scheme in discrete-time case by assuming arrival process to be Markov-modulated Bernoulli process (MMBP).

  • In this paper, the modified Usage Parameter Control(UPC) method based on Dual Leaky Bucket algorithm is proposed to improve the perfor mance of multimedia synchronization and to control burst traffic. In the proposed algorithm, Synchronous cells are by passed to the 2nd stage Leaky Bucket (LB) of the DLB. for overloaded traffic condition, the violated cells are saved in a temporary buffer and they are retransmitted when the 2nd stage bucket is empty.

  • 최근 개인정보 유출 사건과 관련된 사고가 사회적 이슈가 되고 있다. 민감한 개인정보를 암호화하여 데이터를 보호한다면 정보 유출이 확실히 줄어들 것이다. 본 논문에서는 데이터 보호를 위한 기존의 연구 방법을 분석하고, 블룸필터 방식에 버킷을 혼합한 복합적인 방법으로 민감한 정보를 암호화하기 위하여 제안하였다. 가장 많이 사용되는 튜플 암호화 방식에 버킷인덱스 방식을 적용한 방식이다. 이 방식은 버킷정보로 인하여 데이터의 분포가 노출된다는 단점을 가진다. 이러한 버킷인덱스 방식의 데이터 노출 특성을 방지하기 위하여, 본 논문에서는 버킷인덱스와 블룸필터를 적용한 복합적인 암호화방식을 제안한다. 제안된 방식의 특징은 데이터의 노출을 방지할 뿐 아니라 데이터베이스의 검색성능을 향상시킨다.

  • It is important to measure the excavator's work productivity that estimates the bucket's payloads on a process. If the bucket isn't filled at every working cycle, the excavator's operator has to drive the machine more to achieve his work quota. If bucket is filled over with the load, the other way around, the transferred object has to spread out on the workplace. That causes additional work to clean the site. This paper proposes a method that can estimate the bucket's payload to improve the excavator's work productivity. This method assumes that the excavator is a lumped mass system. And it uses a 3 points angle (boom link, arm link, swing) and 2 points pressure (boom cylinder's input port and output port) of measurable data. Depending on assumptions, the bucket's payload can be calculated by the payload's motion equation. And this suggested method can be verified by simple experiments.

  • Warehouses form an important link in a supply chain network. Among a variety of activities in warehouses, order picking is the process of retrieving a number of items out of storage to meet customer orders. Today, as the transactions through direct sales are wide spread, warehouses often receive a large amount of small orders to be handled within tight time windows, which makes fast and efficient order picking more important than ever. This paper examines a new order picking method where the concept of bucket brigade (BB) is applied. Bucket brigade is a way of dynamically coordinating workers who progressively perform a set of operations along a flow line. In bucket brigades, a worker is not assigned his jobs in a static way. Each worker takes a job from his predecessor when he is free. We identify some considerations when bucket brigades are applied to order picking activities. A new BB picking protocol is presented to improve existing BB picking protocols. Through simulation experiments, the performance of BB order picking is evaluated under various logistics environments.

  • 본 논문에서는 UPC(Usage Parameter Control) 기법의 하나인 Leaky Bucket 알고리즘에 Jumping Window 기법을 적용하여 평균비트율을 감시할 수 있는 새로운 사용 파라메터 제어 알고리즘을 제안한다. 본 논문에서 제안 알고리즈은 먼저 Leaky Bucket를 사용하여 최대비트율을 위반한 셀을 표시한 후, 만약 망으로 전송된 셀들의 평균비트율이 협약을 이하라면 표시된 셀들을 망으로 재전송한다. 평균비트율의 측정은 Jumping Window와 같은 윈도우 메카니즘을 응용하였다. 제안된 알고리즘의 성능평가를 위하여 On/Off 트래픽 소스 모델을 가정하고 시뮬레이션을 한 결과에 의하면, 제안한 알고리즘이 기존 Leaky Bucket 기법보다 셀 손실율이 저하되었고, 버킷 크기도 감소시킬 수 있었다.

  • 리키버킷 사용에 관해서 많은 연구가 있었다. 고속네트워크에서 제어기능을 다루는데 리키버킷 방식의 사용에 관해서 많은 관심을 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서 제안한 버스트 토큰 fill 방식은 최고율을 유지하고 버스트 크기도 조절하며 평균율에 그다지 큰 변화를 주지 않으면서 좋은 효과를 기대 할 수 있는 방법을 제안 하였다. 이러한 방법을 사용함으로써 어떤 효과가 있을지를 보여 주었다. 그러나 이방법의 사용에 있어서 on-off 방식과 같은 버스트 데이터의 특별한 형태에 보다 효율적이며 모든 데이터에 적용하는 데는 더욱 세심한 주의가 필요하다.

  • We build a queueing model for buffered leaky bucket system. First, we set up system equations and them calculate the steady-state probabilities at an arbitrary time epoch by recursive method. We derive the mean waiting time and the mean number of cells in the input buffer, and evaluate the performance of the buffered leaky bucket system to find the optimal queue capacity and token generation rate that meet the quality of service(QoS).

0.01 mm 급 우량계 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of Raingauge with 0.01 mm Resolution)

  • A new method of automatic recording raingauge is developed to measure rainfall with 0.01mm resolution. This use two different signals to measure rainfall more accurately compare than other raingauges. One is weight of the tipping bucket with rainfall amount and the other is pulse from tipping bucket reverse. New method applied 1 mm tipping bucket mechanism and install loadcell under tipping bucket mechanism for measuring rainfall weight. Loadcell measure weight of rainfall until 1 mm with 0.01 mm resolution and more than 1 mm than bucket reverse and pulse signal generate, after that loadcell measure weight again. The validation of new instrument was examined in the room 65 mm/hour rainfall rate total 53 mm range. There is below than 1 % error of absolute rainfall amount and 0.01 mm resolution. The field test of instrument was carried out by comparing its measured values with values recorded by weight type and standard type on June 1 2003 at Terrestrial Environmental Research Center at Tsukuba University in Tsukuba of Japan, when it has recorded total amount of 40.58 mm rainfall by standard raingauge and new raingauge recorded 41.032 mm. Same rainfall intensity pattern observed in field observation with weight type raingauge. Rainfall intensity between weight type and Lee-A type raingauge reached 0.9947 correlation in 3 minute average.

  • Because the rain gauges of tipping bucket type can easily use the digital signal, the rain gauges are widely used for the meteorological observation. In general, the resolution of rain gauges of tipping bucket type can be categorized by the 0.1mm, 0.5mm, and 1.0mm classes. But, the error of the tipping bucket rain gauges is made by the intensity of rainfalls and is expected to make the standard calibration method for error measurement. Thus, we developed the hardware of standard calibration facility for rain gauges by weighting measurement method and proposed the standard procedure by rainfall intensity in this study. Also, we calculated the error for the rainfall intensity and obtained useful result through the proposed calibration method.
