보도포장의 종류에 따른 보행자의 안전성 및 쾌적감에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Safety and Comfort of Pedestrians according to the Type of Sidewalk Pavement)

  • Safety, resilience and comfort of pedestrian were assessed by the British Pendulum Test and SB/GB factor test at 8 kinds of sidewalk pavement. Sidewalk paving materials were normal concrete, porous concrete, concrete block, soil concrete, asphalt, rubber chip/resin mixture, wood chip/resin mixture and floor tile. In addition, a survey was conducted to investigate the perception of pedestrians on the sidewalk paving material. As a result, while the skid resistance value was measured in the most 60BPN above, the floor tile showed a low value of about 30BPN. The ratios of SB factor to GB factor of the elastic pavements(rubber/resin mixture and wood chip/resin mixture) appeared to be relatively large when compared with those of the conventional sidewalks. The survey showed that respondents perceived as more safe and comfortable elastic pavements compared to conventional pavements. Approximately 50% of respondents answered that hardened soil pavement was the most environmentally friendly.

염화물을 함유한 제설제가 콘크리트의 열 특성과 미끄럼저항성에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (Effect of Chloride-containing Deicer on the Thermal Charateristics and Skid Resistance of Concrete)

  • This research is targeting that estimate the effect on cement concrete pavement with type of chloride deicers. In order to this study objective, when chloride deicers were spread on road surface, thermal characteristics test was conducted. Also, skid resistance test according to types and concentration of chloride deicier, road surface conditions were investigated. As a test results, thermal characteristics with kind of chloride deicier could know that sodium chloride(NaCl) is exothermic reactive material, calcium chloride$(CaCl_2)$ is endothermic reactive material. And, in case of mixed salt of the calcium and sodium chloride, it could know that can change to the exothermic or endothermic reaction according to dosage ratios. Skid value by British Pendulum Tester(BPT) has shown that it is seldom difference between the types($CaCl_2$, NaCl, mixed salt) and solution concentrations(0.5, 0.8, 1.0, 4.0, $10\%$) of chloride deicier comparing with tap water except mixed salt($10\%$ solution concentration).

아크릴 수지로 코팅한 배수성 아스팔트 콘크리트의 특성 평가 (Characterization of Porous Asphalt Concrete Coated with MMA Resin)

  • 본 연구는 배수성 아스팔트 포장의 표면을 아크릴 수지로 코팅 처리할 경우 내구성 측면 및 기능적 측면에서 어떠한 효과가 있는가를 실내시험을 통해 평가하는 기초적인 연구이다. 포장의 내구성 측면에서는 칸타브로 및 휠트래킹, 수분손상 간접 인장 피로 시험 등을 실시하였다. 시험결과 시편을 수지로 코팅을 한 경우 칸타브로 손실률이 3배 정도 감소되었고 균열에 대한 저항성도 대폭 향상되었으나 수분손상 및 소성변형의 저항성은 큰 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 기능적인 측면에서는 코팅 전 후의 투수계수 및 공극률 BPT(British Pendulum Tester)를 사용한 미끄럼 저항성의 변화를 측정하였다. 시험결과 공극률 및 투수계수는 약간 저하되나 기능상의 문제는 없을 것으로 판단되며, 미끄럼 저항성은 규사를 살포하지 않을 경우 미끄럼 저항성이 감소되나 규사를 살포할 경우 코팅 전 수준 이상의 미끄럼 저항성을 확보하는 것으로 나타났다.

미끄럼방지포장 유지관리를 위한 미끄럼저항 성능평가방법 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study on Skid Resistance Performance Evaluation Methods for Maintenance of Skid Resistance Pavement)

  • 미끄럼방지포장은 도로의 부속물로서 도로 및 교통 특성으로 인해 미끄럼저항을 충분히 확보하지 못한 곳이나 도로선형의 변화가 심한 구간에서 포장의 미끄럼저항을 높여 자동차의 안전한 주행을 도모하기 위한 시설이라고 명시하고 있다. 특히, 눈, 비, 블랙아이스와 같은 기상 악천후 상황에서 미끄럼방지포장의 미끄럼저항성능은 도로교통 및 운전자의 안전에 큰 영향을 미친다. 하지만 현재 미끄럼저항성능을 측정하는 데 주로 사용되는 BPN은 시험 면적이 0.009 m2에 불과하여 전체 포장면에 대한 대표성을 나타내기 어렵기 때문에 미끄럼방지포장 유지관리를 위한 신뢰성 있는 미끄럼저항성능 평가방법이 필요한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 지침 및 표준 조사를 통하여 BPN, SN, GN 시험의 미끄럼저항 성능평가 방법을 비교하고 현장 미끄럼저항 성능평가에 적용하고자 하였다. 또한, 미끄럼방지포장의 체계적인 유지관리를 위하여 미끄럼방지포장재 미끄럼저항 성능평가 Test-bed 및 실도로 실증 현장에 미끄럼저항성능이 다른 미끄럼방지포장을 설치하여 성능평가방법(BPN, SN, GN)별 미끄럼저항성능을 비교하였다. 실험결과, SN과 GN은 미끄럼저항성능이 비슷한 경향으로 나타났으며, GN은 BPN × 0.01 과 유사하게 도출되었다.

하중판을 이용한 미끄러짐 측정기의 동력학적 특성 평가 (Evaluation of Dynamic Characteristics of Slipmeters with Force Platform)

  • The purpose of this study were to evaluate the dynamic characteristics of the portable slipmeters with respect to actual slipping and to compare their output with those of force platform. The selected slipmeters were commonly used devices for slipperiness measurement in situ floors. Their output quantity represented force (BOT-3000), loss of energy(British pendulum striker) and angle of inclination(English XL). The validity of these devices was studied with respect to actual slipping using a force platform. The precision of these devices was also evaluated with force platform. Based on dynamics of human subject behavior when slipping during normal walking, the all devices tested in this study showed poor performances: low built up ratio, low normal pressure, and long contact time prior to slip. Nevertheless, their results reasonably correlated with those calculated from the ground reaction forces generated by the operation of the selected slipmeters on the force platform although the absolute values of COF from these three devices could be quite different. Also the results showed good repeatability under the some test conditions.

칼라 아스팔트 포장의 색채 표면보수를 위한 칼라코팅 공법 성능평가 (Evaluation of Color Coating Method for Color Maintenance of Color Asphalt Pavement)

  • 본 연구는 칼라아스팔트 포장의 표면 색채를 보수하기 위하여 사용되는 칼라코팅 공법에 대한 평가를 버스전용 차선에서 실시한 실내외 시험에 관한 연구이다. 교통과 시간의 경과에 따라 칼라아스팔트 표면은 탈변색, 마모가 발생하여 표면 색상에 손상이 발생하게 된다. 총 9개 공법에 대하여 평가를 실시하였다. 실내시험 항목으로 UV시험, 부착성능 및 타버시험장치를 사용하여 내마모시험을 실시하고 현장시험으로는 BPT를 이용한 미끄럼저항시험과 현장 육안조사를 실시하였다. 실험 결과 각 공법들은 서로 다른 공학적 특징을 보였는데 이러한 결과는 각 공법에 사용한 주재료와 관련이 있는 것으로 판단하였다. 고무에폭시를 주재료로 사용한 공법이 평가된 공법 중에서 만족할만한 결과를 보였으나 100일 후 현장 추적조사 결과 모든 공법이 탈변색, 마모, 벗겨짐 현상이 심하게 발생하여 코팅공법으로 적합하지 않으며 추후 적용하기 위해서는 연구가 필요한 것으로 나타났다.

1액형 광촉매를 아스팔트 포장에 적용하기 위한 기초연구 (Fundamental Study on Applying an Integral TiO2 Solution to Asphalt Pavement)

  • PURPOSES : This research was a fundamental study on the application of an integral $TiO_2$ solution to asphalt concrete pavement. The integral $TiO_2$ solution was produced in pilot production equipment; application of the integral $TiO_2$ solution to asphalt pavement was conducted to examine the pollution-reducing capability of photocatalytic compounds such as $TiO_2$. The photocatalytic $TiO_2$ reacted with air pollutants, converting them into small amounts of relatively benign molecules. METHODS : In this study, laboratory experiments were conducted using five various testing methods. Tensile strength ratio (TSR) and British pendulum test (BPT) were conducted in order to evaluate the properties of asphalt pavement subsequent to the integral $TiO_2$ solution coating. In addition, methylene blue testing, a measurement of nitrate on the coated pavement, and nitrogen oxide (NOx) reduction testing were conducted in order to evaluate photocatalytic reaction. Lastly, a UV-A lamp was used as a light source for photocatalytic reactions. RESULTS : Test results indicated no change in the properties of asphalt pavement following the integral $TiO_2$ solution coating. In order to evaluate the performance of asphalt pavement as a function of $TiO_2$, the moisture susceptibility and skid resistance were investigated. The moisture susceptibility and skid resistance satisfied there quirements related to pavement quality and safety specification. Furthermore, the effects of reduction of air pollution were significantly improved as determined via the methylene blue test and NOx reduction test. The $TiO_2$-paved asphalt specimen exhibited approximately 43% reduction of NOx. CONCLUSIONS : This study has suggested that applying $TiO_2$ rarely impacts asphalt pavement performance measures such as moisture susceptibility and skid resistance, and that its application may be a better means of reducing air pollution. Further studies, such as proper $TiO_2$ dosage rates and compatibility with various pavement types, are required to broaden and generalize its application.

아스팔트 도로포장 유지보수용 표면처리공법의 공용성 평가 (Performance Evaluation of Surface Treatments for Asphalt Pavement Preservation)

  • PURPOSES : The objective of this study is to evaluate the performance properties of chip seals and fog seals with polymer-modified emulsions. METHODS : The performance of chip seals and fog seals was evaluated on the basis of common issues in surface treatments. Granite aggregate and four types of asphalt emulsions (one of the unmodified and three of the modified emulsions) were used considering the usage in field. A Vialit test was performed to determine the aggregate retention, and the MMLS3 (Third Scale Model Mobile Load Simulator) test was conducted to determine the aggregate retention, bleeding, and rutting. In addition, the fog seal specimens were tested by the BPT (British Pendulum Test) to evaluate skid resistance. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS : Overall, the polymer-modified emulsions (PMEs) showed better aggregate retention and bleeding resistance for both chip seals and fog seals. When comparing the performance of the PMEs, the difference was not considerable. In addition, PMEs present significantly better rutting resistance than unmodified emulsions. For skid resistance, if the recommended mix design is applied, the specimens do not cause issues with skid resistance. Although all of the fog seal specimens were over the criteria for skid resistance, the specimen fabricated by the high emulsion application rate (EAR) of the unmodified emulsion was nearly equivalent to the skid value criteria. Therefore, the use of an unmodified emulsion with a high EAR should be carefully applied in the field.

바닥의 미끄럼 저항이 보행 특성에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Floor Slipperiness on Gait Characteristic)

  • 바닥의 미끄럼 저항은 보행자 안전을 위해 반드시 필요한 성능이다. 본 연구는 실제 인간의 미끄럼과 잘 대응하는 미끄럼 시험장치를 개발하기 위한 기초적 연구로서, 지면 마찰력(RCOF)과 표면 거칠기(Rz) 및 3가지 미끄럼 저항계수(C.S.R, BPN, SCOF) 간의 상관성을 분석하였다. 보행 속도가 증가할수록 보간 거리, 보폭, 분당 보행 수 모두 증가하며, 보행 속도와 RCOF 간에는 유의한 상관성이 있었다. 그러나 RCOF와 각 미끄럼 저항계수 간에는 상관성이 거의 없기 때문에 RCOF만으로는 바닥의 미끄럼 저항 특성을 파악하기 힘들다.

Comparison of Three Different Slip Meters under Various Contaminated Conditions

  • Objectives: To challenge the problem of slipperiness, various slipmeters have been developed to assess slip hazard. The performance of in-situ slipmeter is, however, still unclear under the various floor conditions. The main objectives of this study were to evaluate the performance of three kinds of slipmeters under real conditions, and to find their dynamic and kinematic characteristics, which were compared with gait test results. Methods: Four common restaurant floor materials were tested under five contaminants. Slipmeters and human gaits were measured by high speed camera and force plate to find and compare their dynamic and kinematic characteristics. Results: The contact pressures and built-up ratio were below those of subjects. The sliding velocity of British Pendulum Tester was above those of subjects, while those of BOT-3000 and English XL were below those of subjects. From the three meters, the English XL showed the highest overall correlation coefficient (r = 0.964) between slip index and $R_a$, while the rest did not show statistical significance with surface roughness parameters ($R_a$, $R_z$). The English XL only showed statistical significance (p < 0.01) between slip index and contaminants. The static coefficient of friction obtained with the BOT-3000 showed good consistency and repeatability (CV < 0.1) as compared to the results for the BPT (CV > 0.2) and English XL (CV < 0.2). Conclusion: It is unclear whether surface roughness can be a reliable and objective indicator of the friction coefficient under real floor conditions, and the viscosity of contaminants can affect the friction coefficient of the same floors. Therefore, to evaluate slipperiness, the performance of the slipmeters needed to improve.
