전자빔 패터닝과 double-angle 그림자 증착법을 이용한 sub-micron 크기의 $Al-AlO_x-Al$ 터널접합 제작공정개발 (Fabrication of Sub-Micron Size $Al-AlO_x-Al$ Tunnel Junction using Electron-Beam Lithography and Double-Angle Shadow Evaporation Technique)

  • We report our development of the fabrication process of sub-micron scale $Al-AlO_x-Al$ tunnel junction by using electron-beam lithography and double-angle shadow evaporation technique. We used double-layer resist to construct a suspended bridge structure, and double-angle electron-beam evaporation to form a sub-micron scale overlapped junction. We adopted an e-beam insensitive resist as a bottom sacrificing layer. Tunnel barrier was formed by oxidation of the bottom aluminum layer between the bottom and top electrode deposition, which was done in a separate load-lock chamber. The junction resistance is designed and controlled to be 50 $\Omega$ to match the impedance of the transmission line. The junctions will be used in the broadband shot noise thermometry experiment, which will serve as a link between the electrical unit and the thermodynamic unit.

교량 및 터널구간 차로운영 설계기준 (Design Standard for Lane Operation in Bridges and Tunnels)

  • 본 논문에서는 산지가 전국토의 70%를 차지하는 우리 국토의 지형적인 여건과 환경 및 생태계 보존의 중요성으로 인해 도로건설시 구조물(교량 및 터널)의 설치가 증가하는 추세에 있는 최근의 실정에서 터널과 교량으로 연결된 구조물 연속구간에서 차로변경이 제한될 경우, 중차량 등 저속차량으로 인한 고속도로 본선의 소통능력 저하에 대처하기 위한 방안으로 구조물 구간의 차로변경을 허용할 것을 제안하였으며 차로변경 허용시의 필요조건으로 구조적 측면, 안전적 측면, 운전자 편의측면을 검토하여 적절한 차로변경 허용기준을 다음과 같이 제시하였다. 1. 우측길어깨가 2.5m 이상인 구조물(교량 또는 터널) 구간. 2. 운전자의 원활한 차로변경을 유도할 수 있도록 도로안내표지, 전광표지판, 노면표지 등 충분한 교통안내시설이 설치 된 곳. 3. 결빙이 우려되는 지역에 설치된 교량의 경우 융설시스템을 구비한 곳. 4. 터널의 경우 터널방재기준(2004.11) 및 터널조명기준(KSA 3703)을 만족하며 터널입 출구부에 결빙방지설비가 구비된곳. 5. 터널 구간 내 전조등을 점등한 차량에 한함.

대형 구조물의 상설 감지를 위한 감지기의 최적 위치 (Optimal Transducer Placement for Health Monitoring of Large Structural System)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 대형 구조물의 상설 감지를 위한 감지기의 최적 위치의 알고리즘을 개발하는데에 있다. 구조물의 진동을 이용한 감지 시스템은 장기적으로 계속해서 구조물을 자동으로 감지하는데에 좋은 방법중의 하나이다. 하지만 구조물의 진동을 정확히 계측하기 위해서는 감지기의 위치나 감지기의 숫자에 큰 영향을 받는데, 이와 같은 일은 대형 구조물에 있어서 쉽지가 않다. 최적의 감지기 위치와 최소의 감지기로 가장 정확한 데이터를 획득하기 위하여 최적합한 감지기의 위치를 위한 알고리즘이 개발되어 수치적 그리고 실험적으로 유용성을 보인다. EOT가 개발되어 모형 교량에 적용하여 EIM과 비교 분석된다. 이들의 비교를 통하여, 이 연구에서 제안되어진 EOT가 적은 수의 감지기로 좋은 결과를 보여, 상설감지의 목적에 적합함을 보여준다.

  • 최근 신재생 에너지 중 하나인 풍력발전에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 풍력발전은 토지구입비, 소음문제에 자유로운 해상풍력으로 추세가 옮겨가고 있으며 이를 위한 연구개발이 전 세계적으로 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 그러나 해상에 위치한 풍력발전을 위한 설계기준은 국내, 국외 모두 없는 실정이다. 이 점을 고려하여 국내, 국외의 구조설계기준인 도로교 설계기준, 항만 및 어항 설계기준, DNV OS를 참고하여 다중 파일기초 콘크리트 지지구조물(MCF)의 내진해석을 수행하여 결과를 비교하였다. 또한 시간에 의한 효과를 확인하기 위하여 시간이력 해석 또한 수행되었다. 부가질량법(Added-mass method)을 사용하여 물과 구조의 상호작용을 고려하였고 물의 유무에 따라 구조물의 반응을 비교하였다.

  • 현재 압력이나 가속도를 측정하기 위해 사용되는 반도체 센서 중에서 압저항 센서가 가장 광범위하게 적용되고 있다. 이러한 압저항 센서는 반도체 공정에 의해서 제작되고, 기존의 센서보다 높은 민감도를 가지므로 그 적용성이 매우 높다. 하지만, 압저항 센서를 형성하는 구조물의 형상과 관련된 연구가 국내에서 미비하므로 이에 대한 연구가 요구된다. 본 연구에서는 과도한 압력에 센서를 보호하기 위한 보스(Boss)와 민감도 향상을 위해 사용되는 매스(Seismic Mass)의 기하학적 변화가 민감도에 미치는 영향을 압저항 분포를 통하여 분석하고, 적절한 위치와 크기를 제시하고자 한다.

  • Over a few decades, off-site construction (OSC) has been widely used for building and bridge constructions. OSC is a construction method that build structures at a different location than the location of use, and normally it occurs in a manufacturing plant. There are many studies on the perceived benefits of OSC, yet relatively few studies which quantitatively assess the benefits and factors affecting the decision of the use of OSC have been investigated. This study investigates the influencing factors of the use of OSC system and its revitalization solutions in the construction industry. As the research method, interview and questionnaire survey are conducted by visiting industry experts of OSC and sending a questionnaire to the OSC stakeholders including engineers, manufacturers, contractors and clients in the United Kingdom (UK). The construction industry of the UK is targeted for the study since it has a number of commons with the Korean construction industry in terms of the structure of the construction industry and current low take-up of the OSC. The survey provides the results that the reluctance of clients to use OSC is the key factor of the slow use of OSC despite of the perceived benefits of OSC. In addition, in order to revitalize OSC in the construction market, three revival recommendations are suggested based on the survey results.

Numerical and experimental verifications on damping identification with model updating and vibration monitoring data

  • Identification of damping characteristics is of significant importance for dynamic response analysis and condition assessment of structural systems. Damping is associated with the behavior of the energy dissipation mechanism. Identification of damping ratios based on the sensitivity of dynamic responses and the model updating technique is investigated with numerical and experimental investigations. The effectiveness and performance of using the sensitivity-based model updating method and vibration monitoring data for damping ratios identification are investigated. Numerical studies on a three-dimensional truss bridge model are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed approach. Measurement noise effect and the initial finite element modelling errors are considered. The results demonstrate that the damping ratio identification with the proposed approach is not sensitive to the noise effect but could be affected significantly by the modelling errors. Experimental studies on a steel planar frame structure are conducted. The robustness and performance of the proposed damping identification approach are investigated with real measured vibration data. The results demonstrate that the proposed approach has a decent and reliable performance to identify the damping ratios.

The System of City Planning and Development in North Korea: Focused on Development of Kaesong Industrial Complex (KIC)

  • South and North Korea, the divided nations on the Korean peninsula, began with the same modern city planning system, but following the adoption of different national ideologies-capitalism and socialism-, they established their own city planning system and developed their cities accordingly. However, the process of planning and developing a joint city of Kaesong Industrial Complex (KIC) led to the recognition about the need to bridge the differences and prepare for future joint development. This study examines North Korea's city planning system by comparing the two Koreas' systems, and identify the characteristics of North Korea's city planning system through a case analysis of the KIC. By comparing two cases, we found two distinct characteristics of North Korea's. The one is a tool for realizing ideologies and maintaining national system. The other one is that it is ideology-oriented system for the supreme leader and party while South Korea has control-oriented system for the public. We analyze the KIC case based on four pillars: planning system, development system and procedure, master plan, and use behaviors. Result of analysis shows that in KIC there are many socialistic features as we mentioned above in terms of planning system, urban design & structure, and use behavior even though a private enterprise-Hyundai Asan, in South Korea led the whole process. This study is meaningful in that it identifies the specific characteristics of North Korea's city planning focusing on the KIC and is expected to serve as a baseline material to set the future direction for North Korea's development.

Influence of para-orientating Methoxyl Units on the Electronic Structures and Light Absorption Properties of the Triphenylamine-based dyes by DFT Study

  • The geometries, electronic structures and absorption spectra of the two organic triphenylamine-based dyes TA-St-CA and TA-DM-CA, containing identical electron donors and acceptors but the different conjugated bridges, were studied by density functional theory (DFT) at the B3LYP and PBE1PBE levels, respectively. The influence of para-orientating methoxyl units on the electronic structures and light absorption properties of the dyes and the consequent photovoltaic performance of the dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) were investigated in detail. The results indicate that the introduction of the para-orientating methoxyl units into the conjugated bridge induces the increased absorption wavelength as well as the more negative EHOMO corresponding to the bigger driving force $(E_{I^-/I^-_3}-E_{HOMO})$ for dye reduction, which together improve the photovoltaic performance of TA-DM-CA, although there is a decline of the open circuit voltage caused by the more negative $E_{LUMO}$.

Solubility Enhancement of Flavonols in the Inclusion Complex with Thioether-bridged Dimeric β-Cyclodextrins

  • Dimeric ${\beta}$-cyclodextrin linked by a thioether bridge was synthesized from a reaction of mono-6-iodo-6-deoxy-${\beta}$-cyclodextrin with sodium sulfide, and the structure was analyzed using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry. The effects of thioether-bridged dimeric ${\beta}$-CD on the aqueous solubility of flavonols (myricetin, quercetin, and kaempferol) were investigated by ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy. The aqueous solubility of myricetin, quercetin, and kaempferol were enhanced 33.6-, 12.4-, and 10.5-fold following the addition of 9 mM of thioether-bridged dimeric ${\beta}$-CD. In comparison, the aqueous solubility of myricetin, quercetin, and kaempferol were enhanced 5.4-, 3.3-, and 2.7-fold using the same concentration of monomeric ${\beta}$-cyclodextrin. Furthermore, the formation of flavonol/thioether-bridged dimeric ${\beta}$-CD inclusion complexes was confirmed with nuclear magnetic resonance, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, and scanning electron microscopy. The results showed that the nature of the complexes significantly differed from that of free flavonols. Herein, we suggest that the thioether-bridged dimeric ${\beta}$-CD can act as an effective complexing agent for flavonols.
