In this paper, We proposed electronic ballast that applys Buck Converter operation principle to Full-Bridge inverter. The proposed ballast consists of an EMI Filter, a full-bridge rectifier, a passive power factor correction (PFC) circuit and a full-bridge inverter. The passive PFC is used and a Full-Bridge inverter operation by two frequency. High Side and Low Side switch was driven by high frequency and low frequency and realized buck Converter's operation. The lamp is driven by Low Frequency square wave to avoid Acoustic Resonance. Also, bulk of inductor is reduced by high frequency switching. Performance of the proposed ballast was validated through computer simulation using Pspice, experimentation and by applying it to an electronic ballast for a prototype 700W MHL.
In this paper, we have developed a ZVS half-bridge converter with a clamping circuit for the DC power source of PDP circuit. The clamping circuit in the developed converter reduces the oscillating current of the switch by resonant inductor and parasitic parameters in output rectifier diodes. Finally, comparing the experimental results of the developed converter to the conventional ZVS half-bridge converter, it is clarified that the developed converter is more efficient and lower noise than the conventional one.

A new high efficiency DC/DC converter is proposed, which is derived from the conventional half-bridge converter. The proposed converter has good ZVS condition compared with the conventional half-bridge converter, and shows a high efficiency by solving the unbalance voltage stress and current stress problem of secondary rectifier diode of the conventional half-bridge converter. In this paper, the basic operations of the proposed converter is analyzed compared with that of the conventional half-bridge converter, and the excellent performance of the proposed converter is verified by the experimental results with the 42W prototype of the power supply for PDP Sustain Driver.
Two AC-DC PWM full-bridge converters that can input current to improve input power factor while performing dc-dc conversion are investigated in this paper. Both converters are simple in that they are similar to the standard PWM full-bridge converter with a diode rectifier/LC low-pass filter input, and both can operate with a simple method of PWM control. In the paper, the operation of the converters is explained and their steady-state characteristics are discussed. The feasibility of the converters and their ability to meet EN61000-3-2 Class D Standards for electrical equipment are shown with results obtained from experimental prototypes. The performance of both converters in terms of dc bus voltage level, input power factor and efficiency is compared and discussed.

A hold-up time compensation circuit is proposed to get high efficiency of the front-end phase-shifted full bridge DC/DC converter. The proposed circuit can make the phase-shifted full bridge front-end DC/DC converter built with 0.5 duty ratio so that the conduction loss of the primary side and voltage stress across rectifier in the secondary side are reduced and the higher efficiency can be obtained. Furthermore, the requirement of an output filter significantly can diminish due to the perfect filtered waveform. A 12V/100A prototype has been made and experimental results are given to verify the theoretic analysis and detailed features.

This paper deals with the output characteristics of resonant PWM inverter type X-ray generators connected to different DC power units i.e. a single phase full bridge rectifier, a three phase full bridge rectifier and a power storage unit(PSU). The quality of X-ray beam depends on the pulsating waveforms of DC voltage supplied to the X-ray tube. In a X-ray generator, the waveform of DC output voltage can be affected from affected from harmonic distortion of DC input power. When a tube voltage waveform is distorted, the property of X-ray beam such as reproducibility, linearity and dose can be reduced. Therefore, we compared DC output waveforms and dose with three type of DC power units and show the experimental results in this paper.

In this paper, we show that, in case of piezoelectric micropower generator, just replacing Schottky diodes in the bridge rectifier with ultra-low reverse leakage current diodes improves the mechanical-to-electrical energy conversion efficiency by more than 100%. Experimental and PSPICE simulation results show that, due to the ultra-low leakage current, the charging speed of the circuit employing PAD1 is higher than that of the circuit employing Schottky diodes and the saturation voltage of the circuit employing PAD1 is also higher. This study suggests that , when the internal impedance of source is very large (a few tens of $M{\Omega}$) such that maximum charging current is a few microamperes or less, in order to realize literally the energy scavenging system, ultra-low reverse leakage current diodes should be used for efficient energy conversion. Since low-level vibration is ubiquitous in the environment ranging from human movement to large infrastructures and the mechanical-to-electrical energy conversion efficiency is much more critical for use of these vibrations, we believe that the improvement in the efficiency using ultra-low leakage diodes, as found in this work, will widen greatly the application of piezoelectric micropower generator.

In this paper, a single-phase to three-phase PWM converter topology using a single-phase half-bridge PWM rectifier and a 2-leg inverter for low cost three-phase induction motor drives is proposed. In addition, the source voltage sensor is eliminated with a state observer which controls the deviation between the model current and the system current to be zero. The converter topology is of lower cost than the conventional one, which gives sinusoidal input current, unity power factor, dc output voltage control, bidirectional power flow and VVVF output voltage. The experimental results for V/F control of 3Hp induction motor drives have been shown.
In the past, the PWM converter had a large switching loss by hard switching and difficult to high frequency operation. The resonance converter to decrease the switching loss and EMI is required the frequency control and needed to reduce the voltage or current stress at each parts. So, this paper propose the 3-phase boost converter and the method to compensated input power factor by control the amplitude - an instantaneous value of the DC inductor current -and control the switching frequency that a modulation error by the ripple of the DC inductor current. The proposed 3-phase PWM boost converter of single phase control type can takes higher capacity and compensate the power factor by using Feed back controller at each phase for the existing 3-phase bridge rectifier type. Moreover the 3-phase full bridge type using the rectifier at each 3-phase circuit will be small size reactor and compensate input power factor by minimize harmonic components of each phase.
