A Comparative Analysis of Breast Type in 20's and 40's Women (20대와 40대 여성의 유방형태 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the differences of breast shapes by age, to classify breast types, and to investigate the characteristics of breast shapes by type and the distributions of types by age group, using comparative analysis for women in 20's and 40's. The subjects of anthropometry were 323 women in 20's and 40's. The anthropometric measurements were analyzed by mean, standard deviation, frequency, T-test, F-test, Duncan test, factor and cluster analysis. The results are as follws : 1) According to the increase of age, the items of height were decreased and the items of width, depth, circumference and length were increased, being obeser and breast points were dropped. So the volume and bottom area of 40's women's breast were larger than 20's women's and the breast point to breast point width of 40's women was being wider by the increase of the intereior of breast. 2) 6 factor were extracted from factor analysis by age group. There was no significant difference in consist of factor between age group. There was no significant difference in consist of facotr between age group, but were differences in the connection of factor extracted items and factor loading. Through factor analysis of all age froup, 5 factors were extracted as important factor of breast shapes (obesity of breast and location of breast point ; breast height and volume ; upper dimensions of breast/lower dimensions of breast ; interior dimensions of breast/exterior dimensions of breast ; volume of the lower part and drop of breast). 3) The breast shapes were classified into 4 types by cluster analysis. The frequency of 20's women's breast types appeared in order of type1(53.0%), type3(32.0%), type2(11.0%), type4(4.0%), but that of breast types of 40's women appeared in order of type2(37.9%), type3(31.1%), type4(26.5%), type1(4.5%). Namely, there was few type4 in 20's women and few type1 in 40's women. 20's women's breast types were characterized as type1·3 and type2·3·4 in 40's women. So 40's women had more various breast types than 20's women's.

A Survey on Wearing of Brassieres according to Body and Breast Type of College Women (20대 여대생의 체형 및 유방유형별 브래지어 착용실태조사 연구)

  • We performed an assessment of wearing, purchasing, satisfaction, and the fit of brassieres according to body and breast type for college women to provide basic data on the manufacture of an ergonomic brassiere. The classifications of domed and conical breast type or projecting and conical breast type were unclear. Flat breast were dissatisfied with the shape of small and flat, and drooping breast were dissatisfied with the shape of big, projected, and drooping. In purchasing a brassiere, the majority of subjects were ignorant of their brassiere size, and over 80% of the subjects bought a brassiere without trying it on. Over 50% of those surveyed said they found it difficult to buy a well-fitted brassiere, particularly for the flat and drooping breast type. Over 70% of those surveyed wore a brassiere of 3/4 cup size, the slim body type wore a brassiere of 1/2 cup size; however, the obese body type wore a brassiere of full-cup size. The flat-breast or slim-body wore a brassiere of a thick pad type but projecting-breast or drooping breast wore brassiere of a thin pad type. Many of the subjects wore an unfitted brassiere in cup size and under bust size. In the classification of breast type, there were slight differences between the breast type that they recognized and the breast type that they were shown. There were distinctions in function, satisfaction, and fitness based on breast type. Therefore, the development of an ergonomic brassiere should considered the characteristics of breast type for fitness and comfort.

A Study on Cup Size of Brassiere and Classification of Breast Type according to Breast Circumference and Volume (유방원주와 볼륨에 따른 브래지어 컵 치수 및 유방유형 분류에 관한 연구)

  • To provide the basic data to manufacture superior brassiere, this study was analyzed the evaluation of wear sensation of brassiere and the satisfaction of breast type by breast circumference and volume of 182 twenties-aged women. The results were as follows: First, it was reliable to set up the cup size of brassiere by using the breast circumference. Hemispherical breast was the same as cone-shaped breast in breast classification by breast circumference and volume. Second, the breast sizes were able to classify into under 200cc, 200~300cc, 300~400cc, and over 400cc by volume, but measuring the volume was more difficult than measuring the breast circumference. Last, there were correlations between breast circumference and breast volume by breast type. And there were differences on improvement, brassiere size, and the satisfaction of breast type by breast circumference and volume. This results will give basic informations for brassiere design that reflects breast type according to breast circumference and volume for functional brassiere.

  • The purpose of this study is to survey women′s poor breast shapes depending on their ages and breast types, and thereupon, analyze the differences and correlations among them, and thereby, provide for some basic data useful to the development of the comfortable brassiere which can serve to correct the poor breast. 1. As a result of categorizing the types of schematic breast sides, "type 1" was characterized by medium lower part, greatest pro trusion of breast itself, volumed upper part and visible breast outside, while "type 2" be characterized by medium lower part, most flatness, poor upper part, smallest outside size and medium outside, and "type 3" was characterized by least poor lower part, medium protrusion of breast, poor upper part, medium outside size , and "type 4" was characterized by poorest lower part, medium protrusion of breast, poor upper part, medium outside size and poorest outside. 2. The breast locations could be categorized depending on brest side types; "type 1" a higher location of breast than the other types, "type 2"had a lower location of breast except for the nipples thant the other types, "type 3" had the lowest location of breast and "type 4" had a comparatively low location of breast but had the highest nipples.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze breast shape by age, to classify breast types and then to suggest brassiere size chart. The subject of anthropometric measurement were 232 women in 20's and 40's. The direct anthropmetric measurement were analyzed by mean, standard deviation, duncan test, T-test, ANOVA, factor & cluster analysis The results are as follows; 1) as a result of analysis for the measurements, according to the increase of age, the items of height were decreased and the items of width, depth, cir- cumference, length were increased, being obesity and breast points were dropped. So the volume and bottom area of 40's women's breast were lager than 20's women's. The width of breast points was bide by increasing of intereior. 2) as a result of factor analyxis, 5 factors were extracted as important factor of breast shapes(obesity of breast and location of breast point, breast height and volume, upper dimensions of breast/lower dimensions of breast, interior dimensions of breast/exterior dimensions of breast, volume of the lower part and drop of breast) 3) as a reslut of cluster analysis, the breast shape were classified into 4 types. namely, typel has the smallest volume, bottom area of breast and the slenderest breast, type2 was the second obesity type. type3 was middle sized type. type4 has much dropped, wide bottom area of breast and the biggest form. 4) To establish brassiere sizing system, the loss funtion was used to decide interval of under bust girth and cup size of size chart. 20 brassiere sizes were established and the size chart covers 92.2% of all subject.

A study on breast from classification of elderly womend (노년여성 흉부 체형유형화에 관한 연구(I))

  • This research examines classifying and characterizing breast form's classification on elderly women, 242 subjects from 55 to 75 years of age participated. 27 direct anthropometric measurement were applied to classify the breast typesl. We analyzed measurement data using factor analysis, cluster analysis, analysis of variance. The results of the study were as follows. 1) 55-64 aged group was taller and higher than 65-79 aged group. Typical breast form in 55-64 aged group was more obese than breast form in 65-79 aged group. 2) We extracted 5 factors(obesity of breast, height of breast, height of breast items, location & size of breast, width of upper chest & shouldet length, height of breast & lower length of nipples) from total items through factor analysis. 3) Through cluster analysis, we categorized 3 clusters. Namely, type 1; characterized the best slender type, type 2; characterized middle sized type, type 3: characterized obesity type. Type 2 is the typical type on elderly women.

  • The purpose of this study is to classify breast types and to inquire about characteristics depending on breast types of women subjects in their twenties. We researched size items affecting breast volume and regression equations for the prediction of breast volume, and thereby, we will be able to provide some basic data, useful to the development of the brassiere depending on breast types. As a result of categorizing the types of three breast types, "type 1" was characterized by big and greatest protrusion of the breast with large breast volume and a large bust, while "type 2" was characterized by flat breasts with the least breast volume and least bust, and "type 3" was characterized by breast location apart from the center front line. Breast volume is significant in establishment of the brassiere cup depending on breast type. Five items such as, the circumference of the breast, the length of the upper breast, the depth of the breast point, the length of the shoulder point-breast point, and the length of the inferior breast were extracted through regression equations for breast volume.

  • This study investigates clothing pressure and subjective sensations in brassieres depending on breast type or bra type. The results of this study show that clothing pressure and subjective sensations were significantly influenced by breast type. The flat type breast and drooping type breast have a lower subjective satisfaction. Satisfaction for 3/4WL is the largest; however, 1/2W having low preventing breast shake and no-wire bra having low bust-up or low arrange-breast are required enhancements in bra function. The results are useful to provide basic data and produce high-quality brassieres depending on breast type.

  • It is necessary to research shape of the breast of girls at adolescence for developing well-fit brassiers. 313 participants reside in Chonju and Kunsan were gathered for body measurement. The conclusion of this study can be summarized as follows. 1) The Analysis of Body Shape by Measurement. Comparing Age GroupⅠ(aged 10 to 12)' measurement with Age GroupⅡ(aged 13 to 15)', Each items has statistical significance. Two groups differed in the length, girth, depth, width items. 2) Factor Analysis of Body Measurement (1) Age GroupⅠ'characteristics were categorized Three Factor : Breast size and breast apex length. Breast volume, Length of the Breast part. (2) Age GroupⅡ' characteristics consist of four factors, which are named as breast size and its jut (first factor), breast volume (second factor), contour of breast profile & its jut (third factor), shoulder length (fourth factor). 3) Characteristics of Breast Shape. (1) Breast shapes of Age GroupⅠ are classified into three types. Types 1 is a protruded and more voluminous shape. Type 2 is the most voluminous and breast fatness is highest. Type 3 is the smallest and flat shape growing now. (2) Breast shapes of Age GroupⅡ are also classified into three types. Type 1 is the longest in length and middle in fatness, voluminous in size. Type 2 is the smallest in stature and the slimmest in fatness in breast shape. Type 3 is middle in length, the fattest and the most voluminous in breast.

Knowledge and Attitude for Breast Feeding of Middle School Students (중학생의 모유수유에 대한 지식 및 태도)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate middle school students' knowledge and attitudes related to breast feeding. Methods: The knowledge and attitudes related to breast feeding were measured by structured questionnaires. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson correlation, using the SPSS/WIN 17.0 program. Results: The level of knowledge of breast feeding was 9.02 points out of 25 points, in average. Attitudes towards breast feeding was 3.77 points out of 5 points, in average. There were significant differences in the knowledge of breast feeding according to grade, feeding type, family type, experiences of observing breast feeding, experiences of obtaining breast feeding information, will to practice breast feeding, and the reasons for low breast feeding rate. There were significant differences in attitudes towards breast feeding according to gender, grade, feeding type, family type, experiences of observing breast feeding, experiences of obtaining breast feeding information, timing of breast feeding education, will to practice breast feeding, and the reasons for low breast feeding rate. There was a significant positive correlation between the knowledge of breast feeding and attitudes towards breast feeding. Conclusion: Middle school students should be provided with various education programs to improve their knowledge of and attitudes toward breast feeding.
