Design and Fabrication of a Vacuum Chamber for a Commercial Atomic Force Microscope

  • A vacuum chamber for a commercial atomic force microscope (AFM) is designed and fabricated. Only minimal modifications were made to an existing microscope in an effort to work in a vacuum environment, while most of the available AFM functionalities were kept intact. The optical alignment needed for proper AFM operations including a SLD (superluminescent diode) and a photodiode can be made externally without breaking the vacuum. A vacuum level of $5{\times}10^{-3}$ torr was achieved with a mechanical pump. An enhancement of the quality factor was observed along with a shift in the resonance frequency of a non-contact-mode cantilever in a vacuum. Topographical data of a calibration sample were also obtained in air and in a low vacuum using the non-contact mode and the results were compared.

지면반발력을 이용한 인공족관절의 보행평가 기법에 관한 연구 (A Study on The Assessment Method of Gait Analysis for Ankle Assembly Using Ground Reaction Force)

  • In this study, ground reaction force(GRF), absolute symmetry index(ASI) and coefficient of variation(CV) of fixed, single-axis and multi-axis prosthetic ankle assemblies were investigated to show the biomechanical evaluation for above knee amputees. In the experiments, 37 normal male volunteers, two male and two female AK amputees were tested with fixed, single-axis and multi-axis prosthetic ankle assembly. A gait analysis was carried out to derive the ratio of GRF to weight as the percentage of total stance phase for ten points. The results showed that fixed-axis ankle was superior to the other two ankle assemblies for the characteristic of forwarding and breaking forces. Multi-axis ankle was relatively superior to the other two ankle assemblies for gait balancing and movement of the center for mass. single-axis ankle was relatively superior to the other two ankle assemblies for CV and ASI of GRF.

복합가능형 절삭상태인식용 In-Process Sensor에 관한 연구 (A Study on In-Porcess Sensor for Recognizing Cutting Conditions)

  • In-process recognition of the cutting states is one of the very important technologies to increase the reliability of mordern machining process. In this study, practical methods which use the dynamic component of the cutting force are proposed to recognize cutting states (i.e. chip formation, tool wear, surface roughness) in turning process. The signal processing method developed in this study is efficient to measure the maximum amplitude of the dynamic component of cutting force which is closely related to the chip breaking (cut-off frequency : 80-500 Hz) and the approximately natural frequency of cutting tool (5, 000-8, 000 Hz). It can be clarified that the monitoring of the maximum apmlitude in the dynamic component of the cutting force enables the state of chip formation which chips can be easily hancled and the inferiority state of the machined surface to be recognized. The microcomputer in-process tool wear monitor- ing system introduced in this paper can detect the determination of the time to change cutting tool.

pH 조절 및 소금 첨가가 돼지 뒷다리부위를 이용한 수리미의 품질특성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of pH Adjustment and Sodium Chloride Addition on Quality Characteristics of Surimi Using Pork Leg)

  • pH 조절과 소금 첨가에 따른 돼지 뒷다리 부위를 이용한 수리미의 품질특성을 파악하기 위하여 C(명태수리미, 수세 2회, 소금 무첨가), 나머지 처리구들은 돼지 뒷다리 부위를 활용하여 제조한 수리미로 T1(pH 3.0, 소금 무첨가), T2(pH 3.0, 소금 첨가), T3(pH 11.0, 소금 무첨가) 및 T4(pH 11.0, 소금 첨가) 처리구로 하여 시험한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 육색은 pH가 높을수록 $L^*$값과 W값은 높았지만 $a^*$값과 $b^*$값은 현저하게 낮게 나타났다(p<0.05). 소금 첨가로 W값은 높았지만 $a^*$값과 $b^*$값은 현저하게 낮게 나타났다(p<0.05). 조직감의 응집성은 pH가 높을수록 높게 나타났으며(p<0.05), 탄력성을 제외한 모든 조직특성은 소금 첨가로 인해 현저하게 높게 나타났다(p<0.05). 파괴강도와 젤강도는 pH가 높을수록 높게 나타났고(p<0.05), 파괴강도, 젤강도 및 젤리강도는 소금 첨가로 인해 높게 나타났으나, 전단가는 오히려 낮게 나타났다(p<0.05). 관능검사 결과 연도는 pH가 높을수록 높게 나타났고(p<0.05), 소금 첨가로 인해 모든 관능평가 항목은 현저하게 높게 나타났다(p<0.05). pH 조절과 소금 첨가 유무 상호작용에는 육색, 조직감, 파괴강도, 변형값, 젤강도, 전단가 및 관능검사 결과는 현저한 차이가 없었다(p>0.05). 처리간에는 T2와 T4가 C와 가장 유사한 육색, 조직감, 물리적 특성 및 관능검사 결과를 나타내었고, 그 중에서도 pH 11.0 조절과 2% 소금 첨가구인 T4가 전반적으로 더 좋은 품질이었다.

유압 브레이커의 타격 에너지 측정을 위한 유압 변환장치 개발 (Development of the Hydraulic Pressure Transducer System for Testing the Impact Energy of Hydraulic Breaker)

  • Hydraulic breaker of excavator has been used for the destruction and disassembling of buildings, crashing road pavement, breaking rocks at quaky and etc. The performance of breakers is evaluated their own destructive force and the number of impact by input hydraulic flow rate and pressure on the operating conditions. Because hydraulic breakers generate high impact energy, the accurate measurement of the impact force has been facing a technical challenge. In this study, the hydraulic pressure transducer system was developed based on the characteristics of pressure variation in closed vessel fur testing the impact energy. The hydraulic pressure transducer system is consisted with a hydraulic cylinder, main base, pressure & temperature sensors, LVDT, data acquisition system and etc. The developed hydraulic pressure transducer system was applied to measure the impact energy for hydraulic breaker. The measured impact force was 438.8 kgf.m within the designed impact force bounds. The developed hydraulic pressure transducer system as a simple tester could be applied to measure the impact force and the number of impact.

종자 크기가 다른 콩 종류의 콩나물 생장과 물성 (Growth and Textural Properties of the Sprouts of Soybean Groups with Different Seed Size)

  • 이 실험은 다양한 크기의 종자로부터 콩나물을 키우고 콩나물의 생장 및 물리적 특성으로 조사함으로써 나물콩 품종육성과 나물콩 품질평가를 위한 기초자료를 얻고자 수행되었다. 대립 및 중소립 재배종 각각 3품종, 야생종과 재배종 교잡종 소립 3품종, 극소립 야생콩 3계통을 공시하여 4일간 콩나물을 키운 뒤 생육특성과 콩나물의 물성을 조사하였다. 콩나물 재배 96시간 후 배축 길이는 품종간 차이가 컸는데 황금콩, 풍산나물콩 및 소영이 가장 길었으며 극소립인 야생콩 계통들이 짧았다. 특히 대립종인 황금콩은 72시간까지 소립 나물콩 품종들과 비슷하게 생장하였으며 96시간 후에는 15.9 cm로 가장 길었다. 극소립 야생종계통은 재배 48시간 후부터 72시간 사이에 급격하게 증가하였으며 원료콩 1 g당 생장량도 월등히 많았으나 다른 품종들은 비슷한 증가양상을 보였다. 재배 96시간 후 단위 종자당 콩나물 생체중 증가비율은 소립일수록 컸으며 콩나물 수율도 소립종일수록 높은 경향을 보였다. 생체 배축의 hardness는 장엽콩이 3,505 g으로 가장 컸고 야생종 YWS516이 1,750 g으로 가장 낮았다. Mastication는 태광콩이 1,650 g으로 가장 높았으며 YWS516이 1,079g으로 가장 낮았으며 배축의 cutting force는 은하콩이 133 g으로 가장 크고 YWS516이 51 g으로 가장 낮았다. 익힌 후의 cutting force는 모든 품종에서 증가하였는데 전체적으로 종자크기가 클수록 물성특성이 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 배축의 breaking force는 장엽콩이 83.5 g로 가장 컸고 야생콩이 가장 낮아 종자크기가 클 수록 증가하였다.

  • Global bifurcations and chaos in modal interactions of an imperfect circular plate with one-to-one internal resonance are investigated. The case of primary resonance, in which an excitation frequency is near natural frequencies, is considered. The damping force is not included in the analysis. The renormalization-group technique for KAM tori is used to obtain the criteria for large-scale stochasticity in the system.

  • The rock fragmentation system with a capacitor bank, switching device, cable and blasting electrode are described. Utilization of the chemical energy from the electrolyte and the pseudospark with a large current capacity suggested the commercialization possibility of the rock fragmentation system. The vibration and noise level of the pulsed blasting is acceptable in the most ground breaking. And also the electromagnetic force produced by the inductor is introduced for the rock fragmentation.

  • The strength evaluation of a wheel is becoming very important due to the high speed of railway system and the reduction of wheel weight. Therefore, in this study, the influence of thermal stress at tread breaking in Korean High Speed Train wheel was investigated using FEM. During FEM analysis, the mechanical load or wheel-rail contract load and braking load were considered. When 300% of the block force was applied, the maximum von Mises stress of 61.0 ㎫ was found at the outside plate around 400mm far away from the wheel center.

실리콘 나노튜브 구조의 원자단위 시뮬레이션 (Atomistic Simulation of Silicon Nanotube Structure)

  • The responses of hypothetical silicon nanotubes under torsion have been investigated using an atomistic simulation based on the Tersoff potential. A torque, proportional to the deformation within Hooke's law, resulted in the ribbon-like flattened shapes and eventually led to a breaking of hypothetical silicon nanotubes. Each shape change of hypothetical silicon nanotubes corresponded to an abrupt energy change and a singularity in the strain energy curve as a function of the external tangential force, torque, or twisted angle. The dynamics of silicon nanotubes under torsion can be modelled in the continuum elasticity theory.
