  • In this study, the optimized initial hole shape for T-branch forming was proposed to obtain effective welding region. Design variables were determined by approximation analysis using volume constant condition. We performed 3D elastic-plastic FEM(Finite Element Method) analysis to simulate T-branch forming process. The variation of height and thickness of T-branch with various hole shapes was investigated. The optimized initial hole shape equation was obtained by using results for the numerical analysis.

  • In this article, Adomian decomposition method (ADM), variation iteration method(VIM) and homotopy analysis method (HAM) for solving integro-differential equation with singular kernel have been investigated. Also,we study the existence and uniqueness of solutions and the convergence of present methods. The accuracy of the proposed method are illustrated with solving some numerical examples.

  • Branch history is one of major input vectors in branch prediction. Therefore, the Proper use of branch history plays a critical role of improving branch prediction accuracy. To improve branch prediction accuracy, this paper proposes a new branch history management policy, based on interrelationship analysis of instructions. First of all, we propose three different algorithms to analyze the relationship: register-writhing method, branch-reading method, and merged method. Then we additionally propose variable input gshare predictor as an implementation of these algorithms. In simulation part, we provide performance differences among the algorithms and analyze their characteristics. In addition, we compare branch prediction accuracy between our proposals and conventional fixed input predictors. The performance comparison for optimal input branch predictor is also provided.

  • This paper presents He's Energy Balance Method (EBM) for solving nonlinear oscillatory differential equations. Three strong nonlinear cases have been studied analytically. Analytical results of the EBM are compared with numerical solutions using Runge-Kutta's algorithm. The effects of different important parameters on the nonlinear response of the systems are studied. The results show the presented method is potentially to solve high nonlinear vibration equations.

  • Radiofrequency medial branch neurotomy is an effective way of controlling pain in the posterior compartment of the spine such as the facet joint, and the interspinous ligament. However, it is difficult to determine the exact location of the medial branch. Up until now we have relied on sensory response provoked by 50 Hz stimulation. The responses elicited using this method are quite subjective and can originate from sources other than the medial branch such as the periosteum, the intermediate or lateral branch. We need a confirmed indicator to locate the medial branch reliably. We applied 2 Hz stimulation under 0.4 volts to locate the medial branch and elicited a motor response. Twitching of multifidus and muscles around the SI joint was observed. The observation of these muscles provides a much more reliable method for confirmation of the medial branch. We have treated 45 chronic nonspecific low back pain patients using radiofrequency medial branch neurotomy with this method of confirming the medial branch.

  • This paper proposes a method for improving a branch predictor for the extendable instruction set computer (EISC) processor. The original EISC branch predictor has several shortcomings: a small branch target buffer, absence of a global history, a one-bit local branch history, and unsupported prediction of branches following LERI, which is a special instruction to extend an immediate value. We adopt a G-share branch predictor and eliminate the existing shortcomings. We verified the new branch predictor on a field-programmable gate array with the Dhrystone benchmark. The newly proposed EISC branch predictor also accomplishes higher branch prediction accuracy than a conventional branch predictor.

  • A novel sol-gel method was implied to prepare CuO-doped ZnO nanoparticles. XRD and SEM techniques were used to characterize the CuO-doped ZnO sample. The photocatalytic degradation of Lidocaine HCl was investigated by two methods. The degradation was studied under different conditions such as the amount of photocatalyst, pH of the system, initial concentration, presence of electron acceptor, and presence of anions. The results showed that they strongly affected the photocatalytic degradation of Lidocaine HCl. The photodegradation efficiency of drug increased with the increase of the irradiation time. After 6 h irradiation with 400-W mercury lamp, about 93% removal of Lidocaine HCl was achieved. The degree of photodegradation obtained by Taguchi method compatible with the trial-and-error method showed reliable results.

  • Gallium oxide ($Ga_2O_3$) powders were synthesized using a precipitation method and a polymerized complex method. TG-DSC, SEM, and XRD were performed to investigate the phase and morphology of the $Ga_2O_3$. In situ high-temperature XRD analysis revealed the crystal structure of $Ga_2O_3$ at different temperatures. The $Ga_2O_3$ obtained using the precipitation method and polymerized complex method were generally spherical-shaped particles and their average particle size was approximately 80 nm and $1{\mu}m$, respectively. The crystal structure of the $Ga_2O_3$ prepared by the precipitation method was changed from rhombohedral to monoclinic at $700^{\circ}C$, while monoclinic $Ga_2O_3$ was obtained directly from the precursor by the polymerized complex method.

  • This paper deals with the makespan minimization problem of job shops. The problem is known as one of hard problems to optimize, and therefore, many heuristic methods have been proposed by many researchers. The aim of this study is also to propose a heuristic scheduling method for the problem. However, the difference between the proposed method and many other heuristics is that the proposed method is based on depth-first branch and bound, and thus it is possible to find an optimal solution at least in principle. To accelerate the search, when a node is judged hopeless in the search tree, the proposed flexible branch and bound method can indicate a higher backtracking node. The unexplored nodes are stored and may be explored later to realize the strict optimization. Two methods are proposed to generate the backtracking point based on the critical path of the current best feasible schedule, and the minimum lower bound for the makespan in the unexplored sub-problems. Schedules are generated based on Giffler and Thompson's active schedule generation algorithm. Acceleration of the search by the flexible branch and bound is confirmed by numerical experiment.

  • In this paper, He's Variational Approach (VA) is used to solve high nonlinear vibration equations. The proposed approach leads us to high accurate solution compared with other numerical methods. It has been established that this method works very well for whole range of initial amplitudes. The method is sufficient for both linear and nonlinear engineering problems. The accuracy of this method is shown graphically and the results tabulated and results compared with numerical solutions.
