In automotive disc brake systems, frictional heat is not uniformly dispersed for reasons such as heat flux and thermal deformation. The thermoelastic deformation due to the frictional heat affects the contact pressure distribution and the contact load may be concentrated on the contact portion on the the disc brake surface, resulting in thermoelastic instability. In this study, thermal analysis and thermal deformation analysis considering the contact between disk and pad occurred during braking through 3D axial symmetry model with reference to the experimental equation and Kao's analysis method of contact pressure of disk and pad. ANSYS is used to analyze the thermal and elastic instability problems occurring at the contact surface between the disk and the pad, considering both the thermal and mechanical loads. A 3D axisymmetric model with direct contact between the disk and the pad was constructed to more accurately observe the thermal behavior of the disk by observing the frictional surface temperature, thermal deformation and contact thermal stress of the disk.

Since the development of railway technology, the current urban Railway the first train line in the country for safe operation control automatic/unattended operation, automatic train operation equipment available (ATO) on time and reliable operation has introduced. ATO Automatic operation controlled by the value (Target velocity) and the feedback value (Actual velocity) by the error between the backing and braking of the train by repeated low energy efficiency. In this paper, given a fixed distance stations between time operation with minimal energy in the driving characteristics and driving trains are modeled. Therefore, in line 5 real route time sectional drive straight sections for experimental data analysis / draft Section / curved and section of the train on that line is selected according to the changing driving patterns to minimize the energy optimal driving patterns were presented.
Belt-driven Starter Generator (BSG) differs from other mild hybrid systems as the crankshaft of vehicle are not run off. Motor permits a low-cost method of adding mild hybrid capabilities such as start-stop, power assist, and mild levels of regenerative braking. Wound rotor synchronous motor (WRSM) could be adopted in BSG system for HEV e-Assisted application instead of the interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM). In practice, adequate torque is indispensable for starter assist system, and energy conversion should be taken into account for the HEV or EV as well. Particularly, flux weakening control is possible to realize by adjusting both direct axis components of current and field current in WRSM. Accordingly, this paper present an off-line current acquisition algorithm that can reasonably combine the stator and field current to acquire the maximum torque, meanwhile the energy conversion is taken into consideration by losses. Besides, on account of inductance influence by non-uniform air gap around rotor, nonlinear inductances and armature flux linkage against current variation are proposed to guarantee the results closer to reality. A computer-aided method for proposed algorithm are present and results are given in form of the Look-up table (LUT). The experiment shows the validity of algorithm.
It is well known that weather conditions are closely related with the number and severity of traffic accidents. At present, installation of safety countermeasures including systems is common approach to reduce the damage of traffic accidents at expressways. In this study, the differences of causation factors to influence traffic accidents considering road alignment characteristics and weather conditions. In order to identify the relationship between road and weather conditions, discriminant analysis has been performed with 500 traffic accident data at expressways. Weather conditions are divided into several categories such as snow, sunny, rain, fog, and cloud. Also, road conditions such as types of pavements, grades are analyzed. As the results, major impacting road conditions to traffic accidents are concrete pavement and 3% or more down grades. In these road conditions, visible distance will be reduced and actual braking distances will be increased. This study shows that the expressway sections under concrete pavement and down grades should be more cautious than other sections. It also shows that fog condition is the mose dangerous situation in terms of traffic accidents.

This research was conducted for the optimal design of large commercial gas oven system. Equivalent ratio was determined through a numerical analysis and experiments on the combustion condition of the combustor. After reviewing the supply capacity of burner(20,000 kcal) and control method of convection fan, two types of heat exchangers designed. In order to maintain a uniform temperature inside the oven is required convection fan braking system. The center temperature in the oven rises more rapidly when the convectional fan is rotated in the counterclockwise direction than the counter-clockwise direction. And The efficiency of the system by installing a large heat transfer area was higher.

The use of regenerative energy in AC drive systems has been an issue since the system became an industry standard in the 1990s. According to the quantity of the regenerative energy, the braking resistor in the case of low capacity was common. However the use of such low amount of energy is actively discussed, and the method of mounting the regenerative converter is becoming popular. In this paper, an isolated regenerative converter for reducing the circulating current which is mentioned as the biggest disadvantage of the conventional power regenerative converter system is proposed. In order to save energy, employing a power regenerative converter system for utilizing regenerative energy in an AC drive system is common. However due to the structure of the system, a circulating current is generated, which inevitably causes a decrease in efficiency. In this paper, an isolated regenerative power converter system is proposed to solve the circulating current and computer simulation to verify the possibility. The simulation results show that 20% of the circulating current of the conventional system does not appear in the proposed system, and the validity of the proposed system is confirmed.
This study derived a reverse engineering procedure for verifying the design identity of original parts and developed parts for PMA(Parts Manufacturer Approval) and STC(Supplemental Type Certificate) of metal brake pads for transport aircraft, which are critical parts among aircraft parts and equipment. In Korea, the regulations for reverse engineering procedures are regulated by the Parts Manufacturer Approval Guidelines, and in the United States, AC No. 21. 303-4. In the reverse engineering for the brake pad, the detailed procedures for each component were determined by selecting verification test items to confirm identity based on sample quantity, dimensional tolerance, mechanical property measurement, material, weight and volume characteristics for each component. In addition, as a result of analyzing the regulation of Korea and United States, in the case of Korea, it is necessary to establish technical standards for braking systems for transport aircraft and regulations related to flight tests.

The forward collision of vehicles in high speed can cause a chain collisions and high fatality rate. Most of the forward collisions are caused by insufficient braking distance due to detection time of driver and safe distance. Also, accumulated detection time of driver is cause of chain collisions after the forward collision. The FVCWS prevents the forward collision by maintaining the safety distance inter-vehicle and reducing detection time of driver. However the FVCWS can cause chain collisions because the system that interacts only forward vehicle has accumulated detection time of driver. In this paper, we analyze forward and chain collisions of normal vehicles and FVCWS vehicles on static traveling scenario. And then, we analyze and compare V2V based FVCWS with them after explaining the system. The V2V FVCWS reduces detection time of driver alike FVCWS as well as remove accumulated detection time of driver by broadcasting emergence message to backward vehicles at the same time. Therefore, the system decrease possibility of forward and chain collisions. All backward normal vehicles and 3~4 backward FVCWS vehicles have possibility of forward and chain collisions in result of analysis. However V2V FVCWS vehicles almost do not chain collisions in the result.

Lithium rechargeable batteries have been widely used as key power sources for portable devices for the last couple of decades. Their high energy density and power have allowed the proliferation of ever more complex portable devices such as cellular phones, laptops and PDA's. For larger scale applications, such as batteries in plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) or power tools, higher standards of the battery, especially in term of the rate (power) capability and energy density, are required. In PHEV, the materials in the rechargeable battery must be able to charge and discharge (power capability) with sufficient speed to take advantage of regenerative braking and give the desirable power to accelerate the car. The driving mileage of the electric car is simply a function of the energy density of the batteries. Since the successful launch of recent Ni-MH (Nickel Metal Hydride)-based HEVs (Hybrid Electric Vehicles) in the market, there has been intense demand for the high power-capable Li battery with higher energy density and reduced cost to make HEV vehicles more efficient and reduce emissions. However, current Li rechargeable battery technology has to improve significantly to meet the requirements for HEV applications not to mention PHEV. In an effort to design and develop an advanced electrode material with high power and energy for Li rechargeable batteries, we approached to this in two different length scales - Atomic and Nano engineering of materials. In the atomic design of electrode materials, we have combined theoretical investigation using ab initio calculations with experimental realization. Based on fundamental understanding on Li diffusion, polaronic conduction, operating potential, electronic structure and atomic bonding nature of electrode materials by theoretical calculations, we could identify and define the problems of existing electrode materials, suggest possible strategy and experimentally improve the electrochemical property. This approach often leads to a design of completely new compounds with new crystal structures. In this seminar, I will talk about two examples of electrode material study under this approach; $LiNi_{0.5}Mn_{0.5}O_2$ based layered materials and olivine based multi-component systems. In the other scale of approach; nano engineering; the morphology of electrode materials are controlled in nano scales to explore new electrochemical properties arising from the limited length scales and nano scale electrode architecture. Power, energy and cycle stability are demonstrated to be sensitively affected by electrode architecture in nano scales. This part of story will be only given summarized in the talk.
