  • In this paper, we have fabricated and tested a broad band bow-tie slot antenna with dual reflector. If we put 1/2 length thin and long slot on a wide metal plate, the slot antenna radiates efficient and strong radio wave as same as 1/2 dipole antenna does. we made with bow-tie form slot which has wider broad band than normal rectangular slot. At first, we made and test a single reflector slot antenna. To enlarge the broad band, we inserted another reflection plate between the slot antenna and reflection plate. After the test, we could have known that the low band(VSWR<2.0) has about $22%(793MHz\sim992MHz)$, high band(VSWR<2.0) has about 61% (1626MHz\sim3064MHz).

  • A complete electromagnetic simulation for a ground-penetrating radar(GPR) is implemented by employing 3-dimensional dispersive finite-difference time-domain(FDTD) method. The presented simulation model includes the cavity-backed bow-tie antennas, which are terminated by resistors. And an equivalent cirvuit consisting of the input impedance of the antenna and the characteristic impedance of the feed line is used to calculate the response in the receiving antenna. Actual emasurements of a GPR system including our manufactured bow-tie antenna pair are performed just above dry sand contained in a PVC tank. It is confirmed that the FDTD simulation results agree well with the actual measurement data.

  • Modern communication systems employ wideband antennas with circular polarization (CP) radiation. In this work, asymmetric modified bow-tie (ABT) and symmetric modified bow-tie (SBT) slotted circularly polarized single-point probe-fed circular patch antennas with dimensions of $40mm{\times}40mm$ for wideband applications are proposed. A 10 dB RL bandwidth of 350 MHz with CP, 3 dB axial ratio (AR) bandwidth of 100 MHz, peak gain of 4.9 dBic, and 10 dB RL bandwidth of 530 MHz with CP, 3 dB AR bandwidth of 140 MHz, peak gain of 5 dBic are obtained for ABT and SBT slotted circular patch antennas, respectively. The proposed SBT slotted patch is scaled up and down to $50mm{\times}50mm$ and $30mm{\times}30mm$, respectively. The proposed scaled-up version offers 10 dB RL and 3 dB AR bandwidths of 340 MHz and 80 MHz, with a peak gain of 5 dBic. The scaled-down version offers 10 dB RL and 3 dB AR bandwidths of 710 MHz and 180 MHz, with a peak gain of 5.25 dBic. These prototypes are suitable to work in IEEE 802.11a WLAN, ISM, and IEEE 802.11ac applications. The measured and simulated results are then discussed and compared.

  • This paper proposes printed bow-tie antennas with 3 ~ 5 GHz broadband characteristics were proposed for testing the electromagnetic immunity of automotive electrical components in the 5G frequency band. The antenna get -10 dB bandwidth in the 2.75 ~ 6 GHz frequency band and the broadside radiation pattern with S11 characteristic of -16.2 dB at resonant frequency. In testing electromagnetic immunity in the 5G mobile communication frequency band, the VSWR characteristic remained below 2.1, forming a level of 1 W as proposed by international standards. As a result, it is confirmed that the proposed antenna can be applied to antenna testing for electromagnetic immunity verification in the 5G mobile communication frequency band.

  • In this paper, a log periodic bow-tie dipole array (LPBDA) antenna for UWB communications is investigated. Bow-tie shaped dipole elements are used instead of general dipole elements for LPDA antennas and the input reflection coefficient and realized gain characteristics of the LPBDA as a function of a flare angle are analyzed. It turns out that as the flare angle of the bow-tie dipole elements is increased, the lowest operating frequency is shifted toward lower frequency and the operating frequency band is increased, but the average gain is decreased. However, the gain variation of the LPBDA is much decreased and the front-back ratio is improved compared to the LPDA. Standard LPDA and LPBDA with a flare angle of 13 degrees are fabricated on an FR4 substrate with a dielectric constant of 4.4 and a thickness of 1.6 mm. Measured gain for the LPDA ranges from 4 to 6.5 dBi at 3.1 to 10.6 GHz band, while that for the LPBDA is in the range of 4.2 to 5 dBi.

  • With continuous advancements in industry, science, and technology, there is a steady increase in the number and utilization of new chemicals. The growing societal emphasis on chemical safety management is paralleled by an increasing public demand for robust safety measures. While various ministries at the government level oversee the safety management of chemical substances, the occurrence of accidents related to chemical substances remains frequent each year due to problems such as aging facilities and careless handling. Upon analyzing domestic chemical accident cases, incidents occurred predominantly in the sequence of leakage, explosion, fire, and others. The main causes of these accidents were examined, revealing facility defects and non-compliance with safety management as the primary contributing factors. In this study, Hazard and Operability Analysis (HAZOP) was employed to identify hazardous risk factors associated with the handling of hydrofluoric acid in workplaces, and a risk assessment was performed using Bow-Tie method. Based on the results of this study, it is expected to enhance safety management plans aimed at preventing chemical accidents in workplaces dealing with similar facilities. Ultimately, these insights contribute to the development of an advanced chemical safety management system, capable of proactively preventing potential chemical accidents.

  • In this paper, a technique is presented for broadbanding the bow-tie slot antenna fed by a CPW(coplanar waveguide). The bandwidth performance of existing bow-tie slot designs is greatly enhanced by optimizing the slot shape and properly adjusting the characteristic impedance of the coplanar waveguide feeding the slot. To connect the 50-ohm input coaxial line to the CPW feed line, a linear taper in the CPW is employed. The designed antenna shows a 3.5 $\~$ 10.0 GHz impedance bandwidth, a 3.5 $\~$ 6.0 GHz pattern bandwidth, and a 5.5 $\~$ 7.5 dBi gain over 3.5 $\~$ 6.0 GHz. Above 6.0 GHz, the antenna radiation pattern appreciably deviates from the typical dipolar pattern.

  • Several risk assessment techniques have been presented and investigated in previous research, focusing mainly on the failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA). FMEA can be employed to determine where failures can occur within industrial systems and to assess the impact of such failures. This research proposes a novel methodology for hazard analysis and risk assessments that integrates FMEA with the bow-tie model. The proposed method has been applied and evaluated in a real industrial process, illustrating the effectiveness of the proposed method. Specifically, the bowtie diagram of the critical equipment in the adopted plant in the case study was built. Safety critical barriers are identified and each of these is assigned to industrial process with an individual responsible. The detection rating to the failure mode and the values of risk priority number (RPN) are calculated. The analysis shows the high values of RPN are 500 and 490 in this process. A global corrective actions are suggested to improve the RPN measure. Further managerial insights have been provided.
