  • Electrode pattern effects on the capacitive humidity sensor were investigated. The fabrication of the capacitive humidity sensor was formed with three steps. The bottom electrode was formed on the silicon substrate with Pt/Ti thin layer by using shadow mask and e-beam evaporator. The photo sensitive polyimide was formed on the bottom electrode by using photolithography process as a humidity sensitive thin film. The upper electrode was formed on the polyimide thin film with Pt/Ti thin layer by using e-beam evaporator and lift-off method. Three electrode patterns, such as circle, square, and triangle pattern, were used and changed the sizes to investigate the effects. The capacitances of the sensors were decreased 622 to 584 pF with the area decreament of patterns 250,000 to $196,250{\mu}m^2$. From these results, a capacitive humidity sensor with photo sensitive polyimide is expected to be applied to a high sensitive humidity sensor.

  • Electron transfer through an Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) monolayer film sandwiched between metal electrodes. We used an eicosanoic acid material and the material was very famous as a thin film insulating material. Eicosanoic acid monolayer was deposited by Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) technique and a subphase was a $CdCl_2$ solution as a 2${\times}10^{-4}$ mol/L. Also we used a bottom electrode as an Al/$Al_2O_3$ and a top electrode as a Al and Ti/Al. Here, the $Al_2O_3$ on the bottom electrode was deposited by thermal evaporation method. The $Al_2O_3$ layer was acted on a tunneling barrier and insulating layer in tunnel diode. It was found that the proper transfer surface pressure for film deposition was 25 mN/m and the limiting area per molecule was about 24 ${\AA}^2$/molecule. When the positive and negative bias applied to the molecular device, the behavior shows that a tunnel switching characteristics. This result were analyzed regarding various mechanisms.

  • We considered the uniformity of fabricated micromirror arrays by characterizing the fabrication process and calculating the appropriate driving voltages of micromirrors used as virtual photomask in maskless photolithography. The uniformity of the micromirror array in terms of driving voltage and optical characteristics is adversely affected by factors, such as the air gap between the bottom electrode and the mirror plate, the spring shape and the deformation of the mirror plate or torsion spring. The thickness deviation of the photoresist sacrificial layer, the misalignment between mirror plate and bottom electrode, the aluminum deposition condition used to produce the spring and the mirror plate, and initial mirror deflection were identified as key factors. Their importance lies in the fact that they are related to air gap deviations under the mirror plate, asymmetric driving voltages in left and right mirror directions, and the deformation of the Al sring or mirror plate after removal of the sacrificial layer. The plasma ashing conditions used for removing the sacrificial layer also contributed to the deformation of the mirror plate and spring. Driving voltages were calculated for the pixel operation of the micromirror array, and the non-uniform characteristics of fabricated micromirrors were taken into consideration to improve driving performance reliability.

  • To overcome the theoretical efficiency of single-junction solar cells (> 30 %), tandem solar cells (or multi-junction solar cells) is considered as a strong nominee because of their excellent light utilization. Organic-inorganic halide perovskite has been regarded as a promising candidate material for next-generation tandem solar cell due to not only their excellent optoelectronic properties but also their bandgap-tune-ability and low-temperature process-possibility. As a result, they have been adopted either as a wide-bandgap top cell combined with narrow-bandgap silicon or CuInxGa(1-x)Se2 bottom cells or for all-perovskite tandem solar cells using narrow- and wide-bandgap perovskites. To successfully transition perovskite materials from for single junction to tandem, substantial efforts need to focus on fabricating the high quality wide- and narrow-bandgap perovskite materials and semi-transparent electrode/recombination layer. In this paper, we present an overview of the current research and our outlook regarding perovskite-based tandem solar technology. Several key challenges discussed are: 1) a wide-bandgap perovskite for top-cell in multi-junction tandem solar cells; 2) a narrow-bandgap perovskite for bottom-cell in all-perovskite tandem solar cells, and 3) suitable semi-transparent conducting layer for efficient electrode or recombination layer in tandem solar cells.

  • The photovoltaic properties of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) with a carbon electrode fabricated using different annealing processes are investigated. Perovskite formation (50 ℃, 60 min) using a hot-plate and an oven is carried out on cells with a glass/fluorine doped TiO2/TiO2/ZrO2/carbon structure, and the photovoltaic properties of the PSCs are analyzed using a solar simulator. The microstructures of the PSCs are characterized using an optical microscope, a field emission scanning electron microscope, and an electron probe micro-analyzer (EPMA). Photovoltaic analysis shows that the energy conversion efficiency of the samples fabricated using the hot-plate and the oven processes are 2.08% and 6.90%, respectively. Based on the microstructure of the samples and the results of the EPMA, perovskite is formed locally on the carbon electrode surface as the γ-butyrolactone (GBL) solvent evaporates and moves to the top of the carbon electrode due to heat from the bottom of the sample during the hot plate process. When the oven process is used, perovskite forms evenly inside the carbon electrode, as the GBL solvent evaporates extremely slowly because heat is supplied from all directions. The importance of the even formation of perovskite inside the carbon electrode is emphasized, and the feasibility of oven annealing is confirmed for PSCs with carbon electrodes.

  • As preparing electrode for the OLED with the sputtering process, in order to be lower damage of the bottom organic layer and increase the life-time of the OLED, we prepared Al electrode for that by using Facing Targets Sputtering (FTS) system. Al electrode directly deposited on the cell (LiF/EML/HTL/Bottom electrode). Deposition condition was the working gas (Ar, Kr and Ar+Kr) and working gas pressure (1 and 6 mTorr). The film thickness and I-V curve of Al/cell were evaluated by a $\acute{a}$-step profiler and a semiconductor parameter (HP4156A) measurement. The thin film surface image was observed by a Atomic Force Microscope (AFM). In result, in comparison with about 11 [V] of the turn-on voltage of Al/cell with using the pure Ar gas, when Al thin film was deposited using the Ar-Kr mixture gas, the surface morphology was improved in some region and the turn-on voltage of Al/cell could be decreased to about 7 [V].

  • In MIM (metal insulator metal) capacitor, Ru (ruthenium) has been suggested as new bottom electrode due to its excellent electrical performance, a low leakage of current and compatibility to the high dielectric constant materials. In this case of Ru bottom electrode, CMP (chemical mechanical planarization) process was needed m order to planarize and isolate the bottom electrode. In this study, the effect of chemical A on polishing and etching behavior was investigated as functions of chemical A concentration, abrasive particle and pressure. Chemical A was used as oxidant and etchant. The thickness of passivation layer on the treated Ru surface increased with the increase of chemical A concentration. The etch rate and removal rate of Ru were increased by the addition of chemical A. The removal rate was highest m slurry of pH 9 with the addition of 0.1 M chemical A and 2 wt% alumina at 4 psi. The maximum removal rate is about 80 nm/min.

  • A discharge plasma reactor using a ferroelectric pellet packed bed is now used as a removal means of pollutant gases, such as NOx, SOx and VOCs. When an ac voltage is applied to this plasma reactor, then the pellets are polarized, and great electric fields are formed at each top and bottom contact points of the ferroelectric pellets. Thus the points of each pellet become covered with intense corona discharges, where an electrophysicochemical reaction is taking place strongly However these strong discharges also elevate the temperature of the pellets greatly and concurrently decrease the output ozone generation, as a result, the overall removal efficiency of gas becomes decreased greatly A new configuration of discharge plasma reactor using a ferroelectric pellet layer and a wire-to-wire electrode has been proposed and investigated experimentally. It is found that an intensive microdischarge is taking place on the surface of ac corona-charged ferroelectric pellet layer of the proposed reactor, which concurrently enhances the efficiency of plasma generation greatly And, this type of configuration of plasma reactor utilizing a wire-to-wire electrode and a ferroelectric pellet layer could be used as one of effective plasma reactors to remove pollutant gas.

  • The contact resistance between organic semiconductor and source-drain electrode in Bottom Contact Organic Thin-Film Transistors (BCOTFTs) can be effectively reduced by metal oxide/molybdenum double layer structure; metal oxide layers including nickel oxide (NiOx/Mo) and moly oxide(MoOx) under molybdenum work as a high performance carrier injection layer. Step profiles of source-drain electrode can be easily achieved by simultaneous etching of the double layers using the difference etching rate between metal oxides and metal layers.

  • In this paper, We have fabricated PMMA thin films by plasma polymerization method for organic thin film transistor's insulator layer. For improving the characteristics of organic transistor, we tested transistor's mobility and output values with organic transistor's electrode structures. As a results, the mobility of top contact was $8{\times}10^{-3}[cm^2V^{-1}s^{-1}]$, that of bottom contact was $2{\times}10^{-4}[cm^2V^{-1}s^{-1}]$. Also, off current of bottom contact was increased. Therefore, we recommend the top contact electrode structure of organic transistor.
