This experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of animal stable manure on the dry matter yield, botanical composition, crude protein content rates, in vitro digestibility and soil characters with treatments, which were divided into cattle manure, swine manure and poultly excreta of 375 and 750kg/lOa, respectively. The results obtained were summarized as follows: 1. A comparison made on the grass yield for one year period following the termination of the experiment did not indicate any signification in the yield of dry matter difference between chemical fertilizer treatment and 750kg/10a of organic manure. 2. Botanical composition was not shown an increasing of weed or bare land in organic manure of 375 and 750kg/lOa application during the whole period of growth. 3. Crude protein content and in vitro digestibility were shown an increasing tendency according to the increase of organic manure application. 4. Crude protein yield in organic manure of 750kg/10a was not a large difference compared with chemical fertilizer treatment. 5. Soil composition of organic manure had higher than the soil composition of chemical fertilizer treatment, which was shown an increasing tendency according to the increase of organic manure. 6. Therefore, It was suggested that the effect of organic manure on dry matter yield, botanical composition was similar to chemical fertilizer treatment and soil composition of organic manure had higher organic matter, available phosphate, potassium and C.E.C than the soil composition of chemical fertilizer treatment.

The botanical, chemical composition and dry matter digestibility of collected herbage samples from sheep fitted esophageal fistula were compared to those of offered herbage samples by the sown pasture, oversown pasture and forest pasture at the 3rd flush stage (25cm grass height). Experimental fields was treated by one plot design and lasted from Aug. 1987 to Oct. 1987 at Chungnam National University, Daejon. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. The botanical composition of collected herbage samples was different from offered herbage samples and this difference seemed to depend on diet selection. 2. The sheep consistantly selected more ladino clover than orchardgrass and tall fescue. 3. Crude protein content of collected herbage samples was high (P<0.01) and NDF content was low (P<0.01) on the sown and oversown pastures but forest diets contained more crude fat content (P<0.05) and less crude protein and NDF content (P<0.01) than offered herbage samples. 4. Dry matter digestibility of collected herbage samples was higher than offered herbage samples (P<0.0 1) and this difference was found out among pasture types.

This experiment was carried out to determine the effect of grazing and cutting system in the seven different seed mixture plots on the dry matter yield and botanical composition from October 1983 to November 1986 at 200m above the sea level in Cheju. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. Dry matter yield was increased more cutting system than that of grazing system during the first and second harvest year (P<0.01), but at the third harvest year grazed plot was increased (P<0.05). 2. Three-year average dry matter yield tended to be relatively higher with tall fescue mixture plots (T4 and T7) than without tall fescue mixture plots. 3. In botanical composition of the seed mixtures, orchardgrass was observed to be more dominate in cutting system, while perennial ryegrass was increased in grazed plots. 4. Tall fescue was dominated about 70-80% at the third harvest year, in the plot of both grazing and cutting system. 5. The percentage of ladino clover was slightly increased in grazed plot compared with cutting plots. However those of alfalfa and red clover were not influenced by grazing and cutting system.

This experiment was carried out to study the effect of cutting frequencies(2, 3: one time grazed after 2 cuts, 3, 4, 6 cuts per year) and nitrogen fertilization(0 and 120 kg per ha and year) on botanical composition of permanent grassland at the "Federal Research Institute for Agriculture in Alpine Regions(Gumpenstein)," Austria The results are summarized as follows: 1. With only fertilizing phosphorus(P) and potassium(K),mean annual dry matter yields were 6.9 - 8.4 ton per ha and highest when only one time grazed after 2 cuts, but fell progressively with increase in cutting frequency and additonal fertilization of nitrogen. The average nitrogen efficiences expensed as dry matter yieldsfig) per feltilized nitrogenfig per ha) were 10.3 kg. 2. When N fertilizer was applied, the proportion of tall and medium grasses in the mixed swards increased by 30 - 50% compared with only fertilizing PK. Whereas swards with fertilizing only PK generally stimulated composition of the legumes at the expense of the grasses(30 - 50%). 3. Although the proportion of tall and medium grasses(Trisetum flavescens and Dachlis glomerara) and tall herbs(hntodon hispidus, Taraxacum oflcinale and Aegopodium podagraria) increased by infrequent cutting, frequently cutting plots helped increase the proportion of short grasses(Poa pratensis and Poa trivialis), especially where plots both had been applied with nitrogen fertilizer. 4. Nitrogen fertilization resulted in higher existence of herbs and weeds such as Taramcum oficinale. Aegopodium podagraria, Galium mllugo, Anthriscus silvestris and Lamium album. 5. Due to unusually high or low cutting frequencies such as 4 cuts or 2 cuts per year increased botanical compostion of Heracleum sphondylium.hondylium.

The global nematicides market is expected to continue growing. With an increasing demand for synthetic chemical-free organic foods, botanical nematicides are taking the lead as replacements. Consequently, in the recent years, there have been vigorous efforts towards identification of the active secondary metabolites from various plants. These include mostly glucosinolates and their hydrolysis products such as isothiocyanates; flavonoids, alkaloids, limonoids, quassinoids, saponins, and the more recently probed essential oils, among others. And despite their overwhelming potential, variabilities in quality, efficacy, potency and composition continue to persist, and commercialization of new botanical nematicides is still lagging. Herein, we have reviewed the history of botanical nematicides and regional progresses, the potency of the identified phytochemicals from the key important plant families, and deciphered some of the impediments involved in standardization of the active compounds in addition to the concerns over the safety of the purified compounds to non-target microbial communities.

The purpose of this study was to suggest the growth characteristics, seasonal anthesis distribution and botanical composition of wildflower pasture. The experimental wildflower were 34 species (1 turfgrass species, 4 native wildflower species and 29 introduced wildflower species). The experiment were administered in the Chungnam National University experimental field from March, 2008 to December, 2009 and the result is as follows: the wildflower length were within the range of 8-60 cm and their up-and-down space arrangement quite good. They bloomed into several colors of nine but one or three of nine colors were biased during August, September, and October. Their anthesis was biased toward May and June, and their seasonal distribution and permanence maintenance were too difficult from August and moreover two years later (2009) because of the decrease of the botanical distribution of annual wildflower after winter, the color, seasonal distribution, and permanence of wildflower became a problem. The botanical composition of wildflower, turf grass, and weeds came to 24%, 62%, and 14% each one year later (2008) and two years later (2009) 16%, 69%, and 15% each. Being grounded upon this result, in case of wildflower pasture of spring seeding, it is more important to maintain the color, seasonal distribution, and permanence of wildflower two years later than in the establishment year.

The objective of this experiment was to suggest the optimum nitrogen fertilization level for orchardgrass(0G)- red clover(RC) mixtures. The field trials were conducted from 1993 to 1994 in order to evaluate the dry matter yield, botanical composition, chemical composition, dry matter digestibility(DMD), crude protein dry matter (CPDM) and digestible dry matter(DDM) yields on the nitrogen levels( 0, 50, 100, 150 and 300kgha). The results obtained were summarized as follows : 1. With increasing nitrogen levels, the DM yield of OG-RC mixttures significantly increased(P<0.05). The maximum total DM yield (7,964kgha) was obtained at N 300kgha level, However, there was no significant difference between N 150 and 300kgha. 2. With increasing the nitrogen levels, the botanical composition of OG in OG-RC mixttures was significantly increased(P< 0.05), whereas that of RC was remarkably decreased(P< 0.05). 3. The CP content was decreased by increasing nitrogen level(P
Butea monosperma Kuntze, commonly known as 'Palash', is employed in various indigenous systems of medicine against several diseases and almost every part of the plant has diversified medicinal properties. The seeds are used as anthelmintic, aperient, digesti and to treat piles, skin diseases and abdominal troubles. They also have the property of reducing 'Kapha' and 'Vata' (in Ayurveda). In the present paper a detailed pharmacognostical evaluation of seeds has been undertaken. The study includes macro- and micro-scopical details, fluorescence powder study and HPTLC fingerprinting. The seed is characterized by finely ridged seed coat and palisade-like malpighian cells, discontinuous transparent linea lucida in upper half of malpighian layer and simple & oblong hilum. The study also concludes that the seed samples procured from different places have similar morphological and physico-chemical characteristics. These observations are also supported by similar TLC profiles. The estimation of heavy metals (to detect permissible toxic limits), and fatty acid composition have been carried out. An attempt has also been made to see the ecological and edaphic variations, if any.

This field experiment was conducted to determine the effect of grazing and cutting management on the forage production and botanical composition at different legumes sown swards of the experimental field of Livestock Experiment Station. in Suweon, from Aug. 1985 to Oct. 1988. The results obtained are as follows: 1. Dry matter yield of cutting management (1213.0 kg/lOa) was higher by 19% than that of grazing management (1016.8 kg/lOa). Yield of pasture mixtures including alfalfa both cutting and grazing were higher than those including ladino clover and red clover. Yield under grazing was inferior to cutting in the first year but superior in the second year. 2. Seasonal dry matter production under grazing showed 5 1% in spring, 33% in summer and 16% in autumn, but under cutting showed 46% in spring, 42% in summer and 12% in autumn. 3. Daily dry matter production per 10a under grazing is decreased 5.9 kg in spring, 5.5 kg in summer and 3.7 kg in autumn. But under cutting is decreased 8.7 kg in summer, 6.6 kg in spring and 3.4 kg in autumn. 4. Botanical compositions of mixtures swards involving ladino clover and red clover were not influenced by method of defoliation. But mixtures swards including alfalfa were highly influenced by method of defoliation. Alfalfa ratio at the time of final utilization under grazing was about 30%, but under cutting was about 70-80%.

This experiment was undertaken to determine the effect of pasture ages on the total production and seasonal yield trends, botanical composition and forage quality of pasture mixtures. This experiment was conducted at the Livestock Experiment Station, RDA, Suweon. The results obtained were as follows : 1. Total dry matterDM) yield of pasture mixtures was the highest in the first year, and thereafter no significant reduction in the 2nd through the 4th year, but decreased by 30% in the 5th year. 2. The 34.4% of total DM yield was produced at the first cut, and decreased from then on. Total DM yield of pasture mixtures varied by year and climatic facton. In 1992, Total DM and TDN yields of pasture mixtures were 13.4 and 8.5 IvlT/ha, respectively. 3. The content of crude protein(CP), in virro DM digestibility(IVDMD) and TDN of pasture mixtures were 12-14, 70-80, and 62-65%, respectively. The highest forage quality was obtained at the 4th cutting. 4. The botanical compositions of legumes and weeds were increased as the year of establishment advanced, and highly increased at the 3rd cut after summer growth. 5. Based on the results of this study it appears that economic forage production could be expended to the 4th year with proper management, and the special renovation techniques may be needed for maintenance of pasture yield from the 5th year.
