Chemical compatibility of interim material and bonding agent on shear bond strength (임시수복 재료와 본딩제의 화학적 호환성이 전단결합강도에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is finding proper bonding agents to be used when adding bis-acryl composite provisional materials. Materials and Methods: Three bonding agents with different chemical compositions were included in this study. Forty disk shaped specimens of bis-acryl composite provisional material were prepared and divided into 4 groups according to the bonding agents. Control group didn't have bonding agent. Through the Teflon mould with 4.0 mm diameter hole with 4.0 mm thickness the same bis-acryl composite provisional material was added on the disks after the surface of each specimen was treated with designated bonding agent according to the manufacturer's instructions. Shear bond test was performed and the fractured surfaces were inspected with a microscope. One-way analysis of variance was conducted and the result was further analysed with Turkey post hoc test at the significance level of 0.05. Results: The highest strength was acquired from the specimens bonded with chemical cure system and it was statistically significant (P < 0.05). This group showed 100% cohesive failures. The lowest bonding strength was recorded from the specimens used conventional light cure bonding agent, and this group's result was similar with the control group. The group used a light cure bonding agent claiming improved compatibility revealed significantly higher bond strength to the traditional light cure bonding agent group in a statistically significant way (P = 0.043). Conclusion: According to the bonding agent used the shear bond strength was significantly affected. Therefore the choice of proper bonding agent is important when hiring a bonding agent to add bis-acryl composite provisional materials.

A Study on the Curing Method to Improve Bonding Strength of Aluminum/CFRP Composites (알루미늄/CFRP 복합재의 접착강도 향상을 위한 경화방법에 관한 연구)

  • This study investigates the effect of curing method on the bonding strength of aluminum/CFRP composites. The surface of aluminum panel was treated by DC plasma. Lap shear tests and T-peel tests were performed based on the procedure of ASTM 906-94a and ASTMD1876-95, respectively. Test samples were fabricated by using the co-curing method and the secondary curing method. The results showed that the shear strength of test samples made by the co-curing method was 2.5 times greater than that of test samples made by the secondary curing method. The T-peel strength of the co-curing method case was almost 2 times greater than that of the secondary curing method case.

  • In reinforced concrete adhesion studies, the demolition of the specimen is inevitably involved, and the studies conducted are limited to the macro load-displacement analysis. In order to establish an elaborate model for concrete bonding reinforced rebars, it is necessary to observe the rebar bonding behavior in the in-situ state. In this study, specially manufactured reinforcing bars, micro-UTM and 𝝁-computer tomography (𝝁CT) are used to observe reinforcing bars in the in-situ state. As a result of the monotonic pullout test of the processed reinforcing bar, maximum bond stress were shown to be 16.7MPa, which is slightly higher than the existing 10 to 12 MPa, and then the empty space inside the specimen in which the pullout test was conducted using 𝝁CT was confirmed. Through additional research, the fracture phenomenon of concrete excluding voids will be studied.

Comparison of the shear bond strength of self-etching dentin bonding agents to dentin (자가부식형 상아질 접착제와 상아질과의 전단결합강도 비교)

  • The purpose of this study was to ascertain the bonding durability of self-etching dentin bonding agents to dentin by means of shear bonding strength. Several acid-etching dentin bonding system (ESPE Z100) and self-etching dentin bonding systems (DEN-FIL, GRADIA DIRET) were used. The occlusion surface of human molars were ground flat to expose dentin and treated with the etch bonding system according to manufactures instruction and followed by composite resin application. After 24hours of storage at 37$^{\circ}C$, the shear bonding strength of the specimens was measured in a universal testing machine with a 1mm/min crosshead speed. An one-way analysis of variance and the scheffe test were performed to identify significant differences (p<0.05). The bonded interfacial surfaces and treated dentin surfaces were examined using a SEM. Through the analysis of shear bond strength data and micro-structures of dentin-resin interfaces, following results are obtained. In dentin group, the shear bond strength of DEN-FIL showed statistical superiority in comparison to the other groups and followed by ESPE Z100 and GRADIA DIRECT (p<0.05).

  • In this paper, we report a fluxless eutectic die bonding process which uses 80Au-20Sn eutectic alloy. The chip LEDs are picked and placed on silicon substrate wafers. The bonding process temperatures and force are $305\sim345^{\circ}C$ and 10$\sim$100gf, respectively. The bonding process was performed on graphite heater with nitrogen atmosphere. The quality of bonding are evaluated by shear test and thermal resistance. Results of fluxless eutectic die bonding show that shear strength is Max. 3.85kgf at 345$^{\circ}C$ /100gf and thermal resistance of junction to die bonding is Min. 3.09K/W at 325$^{\circ}C$/100gf.

  • Dimethyl Ether(DME) engine use a highly efficient alternative fuel having a great quantity of oxygen and has a advantage no polluting PM gas. The existing DME fuel cam material is a highly expensive carbide alloy, and it is difficult to take a price advantage. Therefore the study of replacing body area with inexpensive steel material excluding piston shoe and contact area which demands high characteristics is needed. The development of WC-Ni base carbide alloy optimal bonding composition technique was accomplished in this study. To check out the influence of bonding temperature and time, bonding characteristics of sintering temperature was experimented. The hardness of specimen and bonding rate were measured using ultrasound equipment. The bonding state of each condition was excellent, and the thickness of mid-layer, temperature and maintaining time were measured. The mid-layer thickness according to bonding temperature and maintaining time were observed with optical microscope. We analyzed the micro-structural analysis, formation of bonding specimen, wafer fabrication and fuel cam abrasion test. Throughout this study, we confirmed that the fuel cam for DME engine which demands high durability against velocity and pressure is excellent.

  • The relationship between the variation of crystallinity and the resultant self-bonding strength of PEEK was examined by using DSC in conjunction with the shear test. DSC measurement of the crystallinity produced at different bonding conditions demonstrated that even though PEEK specimens contain the same amount of crystallinity, the resultant self-bonding strength is sensitively dependent on bonding history. It also showed that all crystallization during the bending process occurs only in the healing and annealing stage and no additional crystallization occurs in the cooling stage.

  • The clad sheet material is produced by a roll-bonding process of one or more materials with different properties. Good formability of clad sheet material is an essential property in to deform a clad metal sheet into a part or component. Performance of the clad sheet material largely depends on interfacial bond strength between different materials. In this study, interfacial bond strength of STS/Al clad sheet was analyzed by varying experimental parameters using a blanking process. Experimental parameters are the punching speed, clearance, and stacking order of plate materials. In addition, blanking test results were compared with bond strengths measured by the T-peel test, that analyzes interface bonding strength of the standard clad sheet. The blanking process was analyzed by the finite element method under the sticking condition of interface of different materials, and experimental results and analysis results were compared.

  • There is a strong industrial demand for the development of light-weight vehicle to improve fuel efficiency and dynamic performance. The effective method of achieving the weight reduction is to use low-density materials such as aluminum and magnesium. In applying these materials to the vehicle, it is often required to join dissimilar materials such as aluminum and steel. However, conventional joining method, namely resistance spot welding cannot be used in joining dissimilar materials. Self·piercing rivet(SPR) and adhesive bonding is a good alternative to resistance spot welding. In this study, the impact test of double hat-shaped member made by resistance spot welding, SPR and adhesive bonding was performed. As a result, various parameters of crashworthiness were analyzed and evaluated. Also, the applicability of SPR and adhesive bonding as an alternative to resistance spot welding was suggested.

A Study on Improvement of Bonding Shear Strength of Geogrid-Reinforced Asphalt Pavements (섬유보강 아스팔트 포장 부착 전단강도 개선방안 연구)

  • Test constructions were performed at 3 sites to investigate ways for maximizing performance of geogrid-reinforced asphalt pavements known to reduce reflection cracking and rutting. Problems during construction operation which can affect bonding shear strength of the geogrid-reinforced asphalt pavements were defined and the construction conditions were intentionally made during the test constructions. Both immediately and 1year after the test constructions, cores were obtained from positions with good and bad construction conditions and then bonding shear strength tests were performed to be compared each other. Rules to be kept at construction sites were suggested to improve performance of the geogrid-reinforced asphalt pavements.
